Investigation of Premixed Flame Instability with Heat and Momentum Losses (열 및 운동량 손실이 예혼합화염의 연소불안정성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • For MEMS applications, the effects of the momentum and heat loss on the stability of laminar premixed flames in a narrow channel are investigated by high-fidelity numerical simulations. A general finding is that momentum loss promotes the Saffman-Taylor (S-T) instability which is additive to the Darrieus-Landau (D-L) instabilities, while the heat loss effects result in an enhancement of the diffusive-thermal (D-T) instability. These effects are also valid in nonlinear behavior of the premixed flame. The simulations of multiple cell interactions are also conducted with heat and momentum loss effects.

  • The intent of this study is to develop an efficient calculation method which can be used to analyze the heterogeneous time-dependent reactor problems. By using the nodal theory one can not only reduce the calculational efforts, but accurately determine the group dependent flux densities averaged over the entire homogeneous nodes. This method uses correction factors(called“discontinuity factors”) in a rigorous manner to obtain the relationship between the node-averaged flux and the surface-averaged fluxes and currents. The discontinuity factors are calculated from the node-averaged fluxes, diffusion coefficients, and the discontinuity factors of the previous time step. The test results for two benchmark problems demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the method developed for the transient application in which assembly-size nodes can be used.

  • Convective-diffusion equations appear in various disciplines such as hydrology, chemical engineering and oceanography dealing with the transport problem of scalar quantities. Since it is nonlinear, numerical methods are generally used to obtain its solution. Very limited number of analytical solutions are available usually in cases when the convective velocity is constant or has a simple functional form (for some collection of the solutions, see Noye, 1987). There is however a continuing need to develop analytical solutions because of its practical importance. Analytical solutions of the convection-diffusion equation are valuable not only for the better understanding on the transport process but the verification of numerical schemes. (omitted)

Electromagnetic Field Distribution Analysis on Reverberation Chamber using Electromagnetic Diffusion Method (전자파 확산방식을 이용한 잔향실 내부의 필드 분포 해석)

  • This paper presents the results of an electromagnetic field analysis for a reverberation chamber that is an alternative method of a shielded anechoic chamber, which is widely used for the analysis and measurement of electromagnetic interference and immunity test. Inside the defined test volume of the rectangular and triangular type, the Schroeder Quadratic Residue Diffuser was employed. FDTD(Finite-Difference Time-Domain) simulation method was applied to produce the field characteristics inside those reverberation chambers. According to the results, field uniformities on the aforementioned two types of reverberation chambers were correlated within $\pm$3dB, and $\pm$4.4dB tolerances, and rectangular type reverberation chamber shows an independent polarization result.

  • In this paper we applied a ray tracing method to estimate the scattering characteristics from large scale random rough surfaces. For the electromagnetic field evaluation, we have used the diffracted coefficient of the knife edge diffraction for the diffracted rays and Fresnel's reflection coefficients in connection with reflected rays. In addition, we examine to search for the traced rays using the imaging method which can be obtained all rays to arrived at receivers accurately and the diffracted field from rough surfaces is considered. Numerical examples have been carried out for the scattering characteristics of an ocean wave-like rough surface and delay spread characteristics of a building-like surface. In the present work we have demonstrated that the ray tracing method is effective to numerical analysis of a rough surface scattering.

  • In this study, a OFDM mode, unlike traditional single carrier mode, is that a great number of carrier in multi-channel environment is transmitted by modulating objective Data parallel in order to execute high speed Data translation and make frequency orthogonal to offer high spectrum efficiency As a result, this method is adopted to a variety of fields and is being actively studied. In this papers, the efficiency of OFDM wireless-communication systems is evaluated by modulation methods through computer simulation. M-PSK and M-QAM are used as modulation methods. The simulation is executed in a real channel and a virtual channel included multi-path, AWGN, Peak Power clipping, Frame Start Time Error. As a result of simulation, it is confirmed that M-OAM method is superior to M-PSK in OFDM systems in terms of the transmission methods.

  • In this paper, the multipath effect on underwater acoustic channel bandwidth and BFSK and BPSK bit error dependancy on channel bandwidth are analyzed. The multipath is modeled as a discrete multipath and a continuous multipath and the channel bandwidth is expressed as a function of multipath delay spread constant. Bit error characteristics on the channel bandwidth and the criteria of the multipath delay spread constant are found through the numerical simulation. The transmission bit rate of less than 100bps in the water tank which has a channel bandwidth of 100Hz, is a consistent result with the numerical simulation.

  • The SARS virus began to appear and spread in North America and Southeast Asia in the early 2000' s, infecting and harming many people. In the process of examining the causes for the virus, studies on the airborne SARS virus and the way it spread were carried out mainly in the medical field. In the field of architecture, studies were done on the diffusion of air pollutants in buildings using gases such as $CO_2$, $N_2O$, or $SF_6$, but research on virus diffusion was limited. There were also explanations of only the diffusion process without accurate information and discussion on virus characteristics. The aim of this study is to analyze the physical characteristics of airborne virus, consider the possibility of using coupled analysis model and tracer gas for analyzing virus diffusion in building space and, based on reports of how the infection spread in a hospital where SARS patients were discovered, analyze infection risk using tracer gas density and also diffusion patterns according to the location, shape, and volume of supply diffusers and exhaust grilles. This paper can provide standards and logical principles for evaluating various alternatives for making decisions on vertical or horizontal ward placement, air supply and exhaust installation and air volumes in medium or high story medical facilities.

Performance Analysis of Coded-OFDM for Wireless Multimedia Communication (무선멀티미디어 통신을 위한 Coded-OFDM의 성능 해석)

  • OFDM(orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) modulates transmitting data with many carriers in parallel. As a result, high-speed data transmission is carried out and high spectral efficiency is provided by overlapping orthogonal frequencies. Therefore, OFDM is applied to many communication systems. In this paper, according to modulation methods(M-PSK and M-QAM), coded-OFDM wireless communication is simulated. Turbo code is used and two channels(virtual and real channel) are used. both channels have multipath delay spread, Gaussian noise, and peak power clipping. As a result of the simulation, coding gain is about 3dB and it is proved that M-QAM modulation is better than M-PSK. Start after striking space key 2 times.

  • This paper follows up the previous work on the linearly constrained, modified minimum mean-squared error(MMSE) detection for direct-sequence code-division multiple-access DS-CDMA) systems in fading channels. We find a condition to avoid the breakdown of joint modified MMSE detection and pilot symbol-aided channel estimation (PSACE). The linearly constrained, modified MMSE solution is theoretically shown to be robust against time variations in Rayleigh fading channels. This fact is consistent with the simulation results. We also show that under some conditions the linearly constrained, modified MMSE detection maximizes the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio.(SINR)
