Ferroelectric Properties and DPT in the Perovskite PMT-PT System (Perovskite PMT-PT계의 강유전 특성 및 확산상전이)

  • Ferroelectric properties of the PMT-PT were also studied from the temperature dependence of hysteresis loops using a method slightly modified from Sawyer-Tower's. Dielectric, pyroelectric and piezoelectric properties of the ceramics in the system PMT-PT were investigated. The resulted densities of the PMT-PT ceramics system were greater than 97 % of the theoretical value. As observed SEM micrograph of the fracture surfaces of the PMT-PT ceramics system, the average grain sizes were increased about 3-5 ${\mu}m$ to 6-8 ${\mu}m$ with increasing sintering temperature. The specimens with PT<0.30 for PMT-PT solid solution system exhibited the dielectric and pyroelectric properties of a typical relaxor ferroelectrics. The composition with the maximum dielectric constant exhibits relatively superior pyroelectric and piezoelectric properties.

  • Metal ions show various transitions in the cathode of a lithium-ion battery. The diffusion process of lithiumions and the phase transition in the cathode need to be thoroughly understood for the advanced design of an improved lithium-ion battery. Here, we employ a phase field model to simulate the diffusion of lithiumions and to study the phase transition in the cathode.

  • Dielectric and pyroelectric properties of relaxor ferroelectric in the PMN-PT solid solution series have been investigated. Features of the diffuse phase transition in PMN-PT system, typical relaxor ferroelectric materials, were studied as a function of temperature and frequency. The transition temperature of the ceramics with PT$\sim$0.325 did not depend on the measuring frequency. This can best realized in a relatively random environment that apparently is provided by PMN-rich complex perovskites, including those containing Pb. The composition with PT>0.35 show the characteristics of a normal single phase ferroelectric material. Thus the studies revealed that the morphotropic phase boundary in the PMN-PT system is in the vicinity of PT$\sim$0.3 and it has a small curvature and as a result the compositions near the morphotropic phase boundary show two phase transitions, rhombohedral$\rightarrow$tetragonal$\rightarrow$cubic, when the samples are heated up to higher temperature. The best optimum compositions are observed near the morphotropic phase boundary.

  • 마이크로 캡슐에 관한 연구는 벽 혹은 내부 물질의 성질, 캡슐화의 방법, 내부 구성물질의 내구성과 안정성 그리고, 확산, 투과, 부식, 용해등에 의한 유출현상등을 중심으로 진행되어 왔으며$^{1.2}$ , 1980년대 후반부터 섬유의 열적 성능을 개선하고자 캡슐화된 상전이 물질을 이용한 연구들이 시작 되었다[3-4]. 본 연구에서는 온도 조절 기능을 가지고 온도 감응형 섬유로의 적용을 위하여 상전이 물질(phase change materials: PCMs)을 함유하는 마이크로 캡슐을 제조하여 그 특성을 분석하고자 하였다.   • Poly(3-alkythiophene)은 온도에 따라 전기적 광학적인 성질의 현저한 변화가 관측되었다. poly(3-alkylthiophene)의 전기전도도는 온도가 상승함에 따라 증가하지만 최대치를 유지한 후 용융점에서 단게적으로 감소한다. 가열과 냉각과정 동안 전기전도도의 온도의존성에서 hysteresis가 관측되었다. 이 변칙은 carrier확산에 따른 분자구조 변화의 강한 영향인 것으로 생각된다. 흡수 spectrum 또한 상전이에서 급격히 변화한다. poly(3-alkylthiophene)의 흡수 peak는 액체상태에서 가열하면 energy는 높게 이동한다. 그러나 흡수 edge의 이동은 비교적 작다. 그렇지만 고체-액체 상전이에서 흡수 edge는 energy가 높은 쪽으로 이동한다. 이러한 현상은 고체-액체 상전이에서 poly(3-alkylthiophene)의 구조가 현저하게 변화하고 있는 것으로 설명되며 공역 길이가 짧게되는 것은 큰 구조 변화에 의해 공역계의 평면성 감소에 의한 결과로 생각한다.

The growth and characteristics $K_3$$Li_2$$Nb_5$$O_{15}$ of single crystals ($K_3$$Li_2$$Nb_5$$O_{15}$ 단결정의 성장과 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The potassium lithium niobate $K_3$$Li_2$$Nb_5$$O_{15}$ single crystals were growing in $K_x$$Li_{1-x}$$NbO_3$ (x = 0.4~0.6) chemical formular by the Czorchralski method. Crystal growth is studied in two orientations with growth along a-axis and c-axis. We have subjected this crystal to x-ray diffraction studies and found that they are single-crystalline and belong to tetragonal system with the lattice parameters a = b = 12.577 $\AA$ and c = 3.997$\AA$. The temperature dependence of dielectric constant was measured in the region of the phase transition. Curie temperature and diffuseness of phase transition are influenced by composition concentration. The composition and cation distribution of ferroelectric TB-type niobate crystals has a strong influence on the ferroelectric properties. Growth condition, optical transmittance, etching pattern and dielectric properties are presented and discussed.

The Effects of Ti Film Thicknesses and Si Substrate Orientations on Phase Transition of Tisi$_2$ ($TiSi_2$의 상전이에 미치는 박막의 두께 및 기판의 방위의 영향)

  • Ti-sillcides are formed on an atomically clean Si substrate and its phase transition and surface and interface morphologies are examined depending on the Ti-film thicknesses, deposition temperatures and Si substrate orientations. Ti film thicknesses of 400$\AA$ and 200$\AA$ have been deposited at elevated temperatures from 50$0^{\circ}C$ to 90$0^{\circ}C$ with increments of 10$0^{\circ}C$ on Si(100) and Si(111) Ti-silicides are formed and analyzed with using XRD, SEM, and TEM to verify the phase transition and the surface and interface morphologies. The phase transition from C49 to C54 is observed to occur around $650^{\circ}C$ and examined to show some retardation depending on the substrate orientation and film thickness. This retardation of phase transition is explained by the consideration based on the surface and volume free energies. A rough surface of C49 TiSi$_2$is exhibited because of characteristics of nonuniform diffusion across the interface while the smooth surface and island formation of C54 TiSi$_2$is examined.
