Convergence factors influencing the human papillomavirus vaccination in some female university students (일부 여대생의 인유두종바이러스 백신 접종에 영향을 미치는 융복합적 예측요인)

  • This study was done to identify convergence factors influencing the HPV vaccination in female university students. The subjects of this study were 546 female university students. The data were collected through interviews using a structured questionnaire from 5 to 30th of October, 2013. 138(25.3%) reported that they were vaccinated. Religion, ever heard cervical cancer, HPV and cervical cancer vaccination, ever had a pap test, knowledge about HPV vaccination, health beliefs(total), perceived benefit, perceived barrier, cancer preventive behavior(total) and cervical cancer preventive behavior were associated with being vaccinated. In logistic regression analysis showed that the predictors are ever had a pap test(OR=34.67, 95% CI=17.19~ 69.92), perceived benefit(OR=1.45, 95% CI=1.17~1.81) and perceived barrier(OR=1.44, 95% CI=1.27~1.63). It was recommended to make convergence policy supports and education programs reinforcing a pap test and perceived benefit and reducing perceived barriers about HPV vaccination.

Life Cycle Cost Analysis at Design Stage of Cable Stayed Bridges based on the Performance Degradation Models (성능저하모델에 기초한 사장교의 설계단계 생애주기비용 분석)

  • Recently, the demand on the practical application of life-cycle cost effectiveness for design and rehabilitation of civil infrastructure is rapidly growing unprecedently in civil engineering practice. Accordingly, in the 21st century, it is almost obvious that life-cycle cost together with value engineering will become a new paradigm for all engineering decision problems in practice. However, in spite of impressive progress in the researches on the LCC, the most researches have only focused on the Deterministic or Probabilistic LCC analysis approach and general bridge at design stage. Thus, the goal of this study is to develop a practical and realistic methodology for the Life-Cycle Cost LCC-effective optimum decision-making based on reliability analysis of bridges at design stage. The proposed updated methodology is based on the concept of Life Cycle Performance(LCP) which is expressed as the sum of present value of expected direct/indirect maintenance costs with expected optimal maintenance scenario. The updated LCC methodology proposed in this study is applied to the optimum design problem of an actual highway bridge with Cable Stayed Bridges. In conclusion, based on the application of the proposed methods to an actual example bridge, it is demonstrated that a updated methodology for performance-based LCC analysis proposed in this thesis, shown applicably in practice as a efficient, practical, process LCC analysis method at design stage.

Remaining Useful Life Prediction of Li-Ion Battery Based on Charge Voltage Characteristics (충전 전압 특성을 이용한 리튬 이온 배터리의 잔존 수명 예측)

  • Batteries, which are being used as energy sources in various applications, tend to degrade, and their capacity declines with repeated charging and discharging cycles. A battery is considered to fail when it reaches 80% of its initial capacity. To predict this, prognosis techniques are attracting attention in recent years in the battery community. In this study, a method is proposed for estimating the battery health and predicting its remaining useful life (RUL) based on the slope of the charge voltage curve. During this process, a Bayesian framework is employed to manage various uncertainties, and a Particle Filter (PF) algorithm is applied to estimate the degradation of the model parameters and to predict the RUL in the form of a probability distribution. Two sets of test data-one from the NASA Ames Research Center and another from our own experiment-for an Li-ion battery are used for illustrating this technique. As a result of the study, it is concluded that the slope can be a good indicator of the battery health and PF is a useful tool for the reliable prediction of RUL.

A Study on Flooding Characteristic Value for the Decision Method of an Urban Basin Design Magnitude (도시유역의 치수계획규모 결정을 위한 침수특성치에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is on the decision of design magnitude for flood control of urban basin, based on flooding characteristic values. In Korea, a design magnitude for flood control is established based on peak discharge of the outlet of basin. However, this method is inappropriate in an urban basin because sewerage only can flow out as much as it could and other discharge overflow to basin. In order to calculate a design magnitude for flood control of an urban basin, flooding characteristic values (peak discharge of pipe, average flooded depth, maximum flooded depths of an important point, flooded area, flooded volume, flooded time) were used as a tool. Using the Gwanghwamun Square as an example, a methodology was proposed that used XP-SWMM 2010 model as a platform to predict urban flood disaster. It can help other local government and residents to better understand, prepare for and manage a flood in urban environments.

A Comparison Study for Mortality Forecasting Models by Average Life Expectancy (평균수명을 이용한 사망률 예측모형 비교연구)

  • By use of a mortality forecasting model and a life table, forecasting the average life expectancy is an effective way to evaluate the future mortality level. There are differences between the actual values of average life expectancy at present and the forecasted values of average life expectancy in population projection 2006 from Statistics Korea. The reason is that the average life expectancy forecasts did not reflect the increasing speed of the actual ones. The main causes of the problem may be errors from judgment for projection, from choice, or use of a mortality forecasting model. In this paper, we focus on the choice of the mortality forecasting model to inspect this problem. Statistics Korea should take a mortality forecasting model with considerable investigation to proceed population projection 2011 without the errors observed in population projection 2006. We compare the five mortality forecasting models that are the LC(Lee and Carter) model used widely and its variants, and the HP8(Heligman and Pollard 8 parameter) model for handling death probability. We make average life expectancy forecasts by sex using modeling results from 2010 to 2030 and compare with that of the population projection 2006 during the same period. The average life expectancy from all five models are forecasted higher than that of the population projection 2006. Therefore, we show that the new average life expectancy forecasts are relatively suitable to the future mortality level.

A Study on Effective Moving Object Segmentation and Fast Tracking Algorithm (효율적인 이동물체 분할과 고속 추적 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose effective boundary line extraction algorithm for moving objects by matching error image and moving vectors, and fast tracking algorithm for moving object by partial boundary lines. We extracted boundary line for moving object by generating seeds with probability distribution function based on Watershed algorithm, and by extracting boundary line for moving objects through extending seeds, and then by using moving vectors. We processed tracking algorithm for moving object by using a part of boundary lines as features. We set up a part of every-direction boundary line for moving object as the initial feature vectors for moving objects. Then, we tracked moving object within current frames by using feature vector for the previous frames. As the result of the simulation for tracking moving object on the real images, we found that tracking processing of the proposed algorithm was simple due to tracking boundary line only for moving object as a feature, in contrast to the traditional tracking algorithm for active contour line that have varying processing cost with the length of boundary line. The operations was reduced about 39% as contrasted with the full search BMA. Tracking error was less than 4 pixel when the feature vector was $(15\times{5)}$ through the information of every-direction boundary line. The proposed algorithm just needed 200 times of search operation.

  • Mobile WiMAX provides wireless broadband services for data communication based on IP protocol. The limitation of physical bandwidth in the radio links may cause performance degradation in providing wireless broadband services in WIMAX. To enhance the efficiency of the radio link utilization, Payload Header Suppression (PHS) is defined as an optional header compression mechanism for mobile WiMAX. It has, however, a very limited compression capability since it has very restrictive compression fields. In this paper, hence, we assumed the application of Robust Header Compression (ROHC), a header compression scheme proposed for links characterized by high bit error ratios, long round-trip times (RTT), and scarce resource, to Mobile WiMAX, and studied its performance. Previous studies on ROHC performance merely focused on the impact of high bit error rate. However, bit error is virtually transparent to ROHC in the wireless systems like WiMAX, since the MAC provides the bit error checking function. In order to evaluate the performance of ROHC in the Mobile WiMAX environments, therefore, we evaluated the performance of ROHC with respect to the packet losses instead of bit error. We investigated the impact of the ROHC parameters that are recommended for the implementation in the ROHC and compared the performance of ROHC with PHS.

Development of Reefer Container Real-time Management System (실시간 냉동컨테이너 관리 시스템 개발)

  • In spite of a recent trend of container ships becoming larger in size, the current circumstance is that managing reefer containers marine transportation is being mostly dependent upon manpower. Particularly, in the case of bad weather or nighttime, reefer containers are not being monitored due to lack of safety device. For the purpose of reducing such risk, IMO is recommending a system using PLC but the system is not being used. In addition, they are still relying on manpower for control and reliability of freight in transit is decreasing due to lack of information during marine transportation for every subject related to freight as well as shipper. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper is to propose a real-time reefer container management system to effectively control all reefer containers widely being used across the world.

Low Cost and Acceptable Delay Unicast Routing Algorithm Based on Interval Estimation (구간 추정 기반의 지연시간을 고려한 저비용 유니캐스트 라우팅 방식)

  • The end-to-end characteristic Is an important factor for QoS support. Since network users and required bandwidths for applications increase, the efficient usage of networks has been intensively investigated for the better utilization of network resources. The distributed adaptive routing is the typical routing algorithm that is used in the current Internet. The DCLC(Delay Constrained 1.east Cost) path problem has been shown to be NP-hard problem. The path cost of LD path is relatively more expensive than that of LC path, and the path delay of LC path is relatively higher than that of LD path in DCLC problem. In this paper, we investigate the performance of heuristic algorithm for the DCLC problem with new factor which is probabilistic combination of cost and delay. Recently Dr. Salama proposed a polynomial time algorithm called DCUR. The algorithm always computes a path, where the cost of the path is always within 10% from the optimal CBF. Our evaluation showed that heuristic we propose is more than 38% better than DCUR with cost when number of nodes is more than 200. The new factor takes in account both cost and delay at the same time.

Garbage Collection Protocol of Fault Tolerance Information in Multi-agent Environments (멀티에이전트 환경에서 결함 포용 정보의 쓰레기 처리 기법)

  • Existing distributed systems have higher probability of failures occurrence than stand-alone system, so many fault tolerant techniques have been developed. Because of insufficient storage resulting from the increased fault tolerance information stored, the performance of system has been degraded. To avoid performance degradation, it needs delete useless fault tolerance information. In this paper, we propose a garbage collection algorithm for fault tolerance information. And we define and design the garbage collection agent for garbage collection of fault tolerance information, the information agent for management of fault tolerant data, and the facilitator agent for communication between agents. Also, we propose the garbage collection algorithm using the garbage collection agent. For rollback recovery, we use independent checkpointing protocol and sender based pessimistic message logging protocol. In our proposed garbage collection algorithm, the garbage collection, information, and facilitator agent is created with process, and the information agent constructs domain knowledge with its checkpoints and non-determistic events. And the garbage collection agent decides garbage collection time, and it deletes useless fault tolerance information in cooperation with the information and facilitator agent. For propriety of proposed garbage collection technique using agents, we compare domain knowledge of system that performs garbage collection after rollback recovery and domain knowledge of system that doesn't perform garbage collection.
