Pre-processing Scheme for Indoor Precision Tracking Based on Beacon (비콘 기반 실내 정밀 트래킹을 위한 전처리 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a pre-processing scheme for improving indoor positioning accuracy in impulsive noise channel environments. The impulsive noise can be generated by multi-path fading effects by complicated indoor structures or interference environments, which causes an increase in demodulation error probability. The proposed pre-processing scheme is performed before a triangulation method to calculate user's position, and providing reliable input data demodulated from a received signal to the triangulation method. Therefore, we studied and proposed an adaptive threshold function for mitigation of the impulsive noise based on wavelet denoising. Through results of computer simulations for the proposed scheme, we confirmed that Bit Error Rate and Signal-to-Noise Ratio performance is improved compared to conventional schemes.

A Path Establishment Method for Improving Path Stability in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (이동 애드혹 네트워크에서 경로의 안정성 향상을 위한 경로 설정 방식)

  • This paper proposes a routing establishment method for improving path stability in mobile ad-hoc networks. In mobile ad-hoc networks, the network topology is highly dynamic due to the node mobility unlike wired networks. Since the existing methods are based on the shortest path algorithm with the minimum hop count regardless of the path stability, it could lead to packet loss and path disconnection in mobile ad-hoc networks. In particular, if control packets and critical data are transmitted on the unstable path, it causes serious problems. Therefore, this paper proposes one approach in order to minimize packet loss and path disconnection by considering the node mobility. After the destination node receives multiple RREQ messages, it selects the stable path through the proposed MinMax algorithm according to the node speed.

  • This paper presents an implementation and performance analysis of an access channel decoder which exploits a diversity gain due to the independent magnitude of received signals energy at each of antenna elements of a smart antenna BTS (Base-station Transceiver Subsystem) operating in CDMA2000 1X signal environment. Proposed access channel decoder consists of a searcher supporting 4 fingers, Walsh demodulator, and demodulator controller. They have been implemented with 5 of 1 million-gate FPGA's (Field Programmable Gate Array) Altera's APEX EP20K1000EBC652 and TMS320C6203 DSP (digital signal processing). The objective of the proposed access channel decoders is to enhance the data retrieval at co]1-site during the access period, for which the optimal weight vector of the smart antenna BTS is not available. Through experimental tests, we confirmed that the proposed access channel decoder exploitng the diversity technique outperforms the conventional one, which is based on a single antenna channel, in terms of detection probability of access probe, access channel failure probability, and $E_{b/}$ $N_{o}$ in Walsh demodulator.r.r.

Statistical Analysis for Fatigue Life Evaluation of Vehicle Muffler (자동차용 머플러의 피로수명평가를 위한 통계적 분석)

  • In this study, a statistical method for evaluating the fatigue life of a vehicle muffler was used to obtain reliable fatigue data using a limited number of specimens. Cyclic bending tests were conducted using specimens manufactured to be exactly the same as the mufflers installed in cars that are currently in use. To estimate the fatigue life by comparing the data obtained during the fatigue tests, the most suitable probability density function for the normal, lognormal, and Weibull distributions was selected. A goodness-of-fit test was performed on the probability distributions, and then a Weibull distribution using the least square method was selected. By using the selected Weibull distribution, the probability-moment-life curves (P-M-N curve) reflecting the fatigue characteristics were suggested as the data for the reliable design of a muffler.

The Risk Assessment and Prediction for the Mixed Deterioration in Cable Bridges Using a Stochastic Bayesian Modeling (확률론적 베이지언 모델링에 의한 케이블 교량의 복합열화 리스크 평가 및 예측시스템)

  • The main objective is to predict the future degradation and maintenance budget for a suspension bridge system. Bayesian inference is applied to find the posterior probability density function of the source parameters (damage indices and serviceability), given ten years of maintenance data. The posterior distribution of the parameters is sampled using a Markov chain Monte Carlo method. The simulated risk prediction for decreased serviceability conditions are posterior distributions based on prior distribution and likelihood of data updated from annual maintenance tasks. Compared with conventional linear prediction model, the proposed quadratic model provides highly improved convergence and closeness to measured data in terms of serviceability, risky factors, and maintenance budget for bridge components, which allows forecasting a future performance and financial management of complex infrastructures based on the proposed quadratic stochastic regression model.

  • We consider some problems of the Modified SPRT(Sequential Probability Ratio Test) method for fault detection and isolation of inertial redundant sensor systems and propose an Advanced SPRT method which solves the problems of the Modified SPRT method. The problems of the Modified SPRT method to apply to inertial sensor system come from the effect of inertial sensor errors and the correlation of parity vector components. We use a two-stage Kalman filter to remove effects of the inertial sensor errors and propose the modified parity vector and the controlled parity vector which reduces the effect of correlation of parity vector components. The Advanced SPRT method is derived form the modified parity vector and the controlled party vector. Some simulation results are presented to show the usefulness of the Advanced SPRT method to redundant inertial sensor systems.

  • Methods for mixing variable types of steel fibers have been developed recently to suppress outbreak of crack or to control the width of crack and improve the load resistible capacity at the same time. On the other hand, uncertainty by complex nature of destruction dynamics of steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC) is included. In this study, analysis of reliance considering uncertainty of SFRC beam is done. For this, intensity limit state model was proposed. Moreover, characteristic values about almost every kinds of probability variables were collected and presented according to home and foreign references. Process of improving uncertainty from the result of experiments by Bayseian updating method is also proposed on the purpose of offering better statistical characteristic values with more data in the new future.   • This paper is presented to study the error minimization of angular velocity for AGV(autonomous ground vehicle). The error minimization of angular velocity is related to localization technique which is the most important technique for autonomous vehicle. Accelerometer, yaw gyro and electronic compass have been used to measure angular velocity. And methods for error minimization of angular velocity have been actively studied through probabilistic methods and sensor fusion for AGVs. However, those sensors still occure accumulated error by mathematical error, system characters of each sensor, and computational cost are increased greatly when several sensor are used to correct accumulated error. Therefore, this paper studies about error minimization of angular velocity that just uses encoder and gyro. To experiment, we use autonomous vehicle which is made by ourselves. In experimental result, we verified that the localization error of proposed method has even less than the localization errors which we just used encoder and gyro respectively.

  • WSN(Wireless Sensor Network) performs to detect and collect environmental information for one purpose. As examples, WSN is applicable for home network, patient management of a hospital, logistics management, status detection during the war and so on. The WSN is composed of a sink node and several sensor nodes and has a constraint in an aspect of energy consumption caused by limited battery resource. So many required mechanisms in WSN should consider the remained energy condition. A routing mechanism is requested to deliver the collected information to a sink considering energy efficiency in WSN. There have been many researches to establish (a) route(s) for data delivery to the sink. In this paper, we propose establishment of efficient routes. We proposed a uniform routing mechanism together with considering energy efficiency. For the routing, we define energy probability as routing metrics information and Performs suppression of exchange of control messages. In addition, we derive to uniformly consume the energy of the sensor node when establishing the routes. Also, we evaluate and analyze the energy efficiency for proposed mechanisms through NS-2 simulator.

A Stability of P-persistent MAC Scheme for Periodic Safety Messages with a Bayesian Game Model (베이지안 게임모델을 적용한 P-persistent MAC 기반 주기적 안정 메시지 전송 방법)

  • For the safety messages in IEEE 802.11p/WAVE vehicles network environment, strict periodic beacon broadcasting requires status advertisement to assist the driver for safety. In crowded networks where beacon message are broadcasted at a high number of frequencies by many vehicles, which used for beacon sending, will be congested by the wireless medium due to the contention-window based IEEE 802.11p MAC. To resolve the congestion, we consider a MAC scheme based on slotted p-persistent CSMA as a simple non-cooperative Bayesian game which involves payoffs reflecting the attempt probability. Then, we derive Bayesian Nash Equilibrium (BNE) in a closed form. Using the BNE, we propose new congestion control algorithm to improve the performance of the beacon rate under saturation condition in IEEE 802.11p/WAVE vehicular networks. This algorithm explicitly computes packet delivery probability as a function of contention window (CW) size and number of vehicles. The proposed algorithm is validated against numerical simulation results to demonstrate its stability.
