Hedge Effectiveness in Won-Dollar Futures Markets (원 달러 선물시장을 이용한 헤지효과성)

  • We examine hedge strategies that use Won-dollar futures to hedge the price risk of the Won-dollar exchange rate. We employ the naive hedge model, minimum variance hedge model and bivariate ECT-ARCH(1) model as hedge instruments, and analyze their hedge performances. The sample period covers from January 2, 2001 to December 31, 2002 with sub-samples such as daily, weekly, bi-weekly prices of the Won-dollar futures and cash. The important findings may be summarized as follows. First, there is no significant difference in hedge ratio between the risk minimum variance model and bivariate ECT-ARCH(1) model that controls for the cointegration relationship of the Won-dollar futures and cash. Second, hedge performance of the naive model and minimum variance model with constant hedge ratios is not far behind that of bivariate ECT-ARCH(1) model with time-varying hedge ratios. This results imply that investors are encouraged to use the minimum variance hedge model to hedge Won-dollar exchange rate with Won-dollar futures. Third, hedge performance and effectiveness of each model is also analyzed with respect to hedge period appear to be greater over long than over the short period. This evidence supports the hypothesis that futures prices would have more time to respond to the greater cash price changes over the longer holding period, leading to an improved hedge performance.

  • 최근 국내 하천복원사업의 방향(패러다임)이 구하도를 포함한 홍수터의 중요성을 인식하게 됨에따라 과거 하천사업 시 발생되었던 폐천구역을 가능한 한 하천구역에 편입하여 보존하려는 노력이 시도되고 있다. 본 연구는 하천복원사업의 일환으로 함평천 구하도 복원을 함으로써 발생할 수 있는 흐름특성변화 및 하상변화를 파악하기 위한 목적으로 수리모형실험과 수치모의를 수행하였다. 실험대상구간은 함평천 중류 구하도 복원구간(1.34 km)이며, 수리모형은 Froude 상사법칙에 따라 수평축척 1/50, 연직축척 1/25의 모형으로 제작하였다. 실험조건으로는 재현기간 50년, 100년의 홍수량과 강턱유량 두 케이스$(100\;m^3/s$, $120\;m^3/s)$를 적용하였고, 구하도 복원수로의 흐름특성은 고정상 조건에 대해 분석하였다. 구하도 복원전/후의 홍수위 비교를 통해 구하도 복원후의 하도에서는 단면확대로 인한 통수능 증가로 홍수위 저감효과를 확인 할 수 있었다. 구하도 복원후의 유속변화는 통수능의 증가로 복원전에 비해 저감되었다. 기존하도와 복원하도간의 유속차가 다소 크게 나타났는데 이는 복원하도의 단면형상과 와류발생으로 인해 나타난 것으로 판단된다. 복원하도내의 유황은 일부구간에서 흐름정체현상과 역류현상이 발생되는데 이 구간에는 퇴적현상이 예측된다. 수리모형실험의 유사퇴적경향과 FESWMS 모형의 하상전단력을 비교한 결과는 유사하게 나타났으며, 복원하도의 넓은 둔치지역에 넓은 퇴적층이 형성되어 차후 환경구조물 등을 이용한 흐름제어 및 유지관리대책에 의한 문제해결이필요할 것으로 판단된다.

  • As smart devices have proliferated and mobile networks have accelerated, various wired IT(Information Technology) services are transplanted in wireless environments. Cloud computing service, enabling individual users or firm users to download data from a server and upload data after manipulating data, is also available in mobile devices. Unlike cloud service in wired network environments, mobile cloud service provides differentiated aspects in mobility, security issues caused by persistent connection to networks. In this paper we aim to analyze the factors affecting the user attitude and their structural relationships towards mobile cloud service use. We extend TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) to consider the characteristics of mobile environments. Research findings, analyzed by SEM(Structural Equation Model), are explained and practical implications are presented with concluding remarks.

Development of a Model for Evaluating Metropolitan Railways' Competitiveness Against Passenger Cars: Focusing on the Express Train Service of Gyeongeui·Joongang Connected Line (광역전철의 승용차 경쟁력 평가모형 개발 : 경의선·중앙선 급행열차 직결운행을 중심으로)

  • With the aim of promoting the use of metropolitan railways, the present research developed a mode choice model for evaluating its competitiveness against passenger cars. A case study was carried out with Gyeongeui and Joongang line, and the area of interest was the direct operating railway between Ilsan and Guri station where the two lines intersect. The mode choice model was a disaggregate behavior model which used Stated Preference (SP) survey data, and the plot of competition was between private passenger cars and express trains. As a result, the mode choice model was established, and this model was used to analyze characteristics of passengers' time value and elasticity. It was shown that reducing travel time is more efficient than reducing travel cost when it comes to operating express trains in metropolitan railways. Therefore, policies designed for activating the use of metropolitan railways should expand direct operating service of individual lines and run more express trains in order to minimize transfer and in-vehicle time.

Undecided inference using bivariate probit models (이변량 프로빗모형을 이용한 미결정자 추론)

  • When it is not easy to decide the credit scoring for some loan applicants, credit evaluation is postponded and reserve to ask a specialist for further evaluation of undecided applicants. This undecided inference is one of problems that happen to most statistical models including the biostatistics and sportal statistics as well as credit evaluation area. In this work, the undecided inference is regarded as a missing data mechanism under the assumption of MNAR, and use the bivariate probit model which is one of sample selection models. Two undecided inference methods are proposed: one is to make use of characteristic variables to represent the state for decided applicants, and the other is that more accurate and additional informations are collected and apply these new variables. With an illustrated example, misclassification error rates for undecided and overall applicants are obtainded and compared according to various characteristic variables, undecided intervals, and thresholds. It is found that misclassification error rates could be reduced when the undecided interval is increased and more accurate information is put to model, since more accurate situation of decided applications are reflected in the bivariate probit model.

  • 전통적인 OD조사에 의한 OD추정의 여러 문제점들로 인해 링크관측교통량과 기존OD를 결합해 OD를 추정하고자 하는 연구들이 제시되고 있다. Yang(1995)은 일반화최소자승법을 풀기 위한 IEA와 SAB 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 그러나 두 알고리즘의 문제점은 첫째 실제 OD를 알기가 어렵기 때문에 기존 OD를 중요한 추정기준으로 설정한다는 것으로, 이러한 추정의 종속성으로 인해, 기존 OD와 실제 OD의 차이가 큰 경우 정확한 해를 도출하지 못한다. 두 번째 문제는 통행패턴 추정시 선형근사화를 가정하기 때문에 게임이론적 측면에서 전제로 설정한 완전한 Stackelberg 상황을 구현하지 못한다는 것이다. 이러한 문제점을 피하기 위해서는 기존 OD나 관측교통량의 오차에 일관적인 해도출 기법이 필요하다. OD추정 문제는 본질적으로 비선형이고 비볼록하여 전역해 탐색기법이 필요하기 때문에 전역최적화가 가능한 유전알고리즘을 이용한 OD추정모형(GAM)을 개발하였다. 사례네트워크 분석결과, GAM은 기존 OD의 오차에 대해 크게 종속적이지 않으며 OD구조가 변하는 경우에도 추정이 가능하여, 일반적으로 실제 OD를 알 수 없는(기존OD의 오차가 어느 정도인지를 알 수 없는) 도시부 네트워크에서 신뢰성있는 추정력을 보였다. 또한 기존 OD 추정모형은 비교적 용이하게 차종별로 관측할 수 있는 링크교통량을 차종구분 없이 단일차종으로 이용함으로써, 정보의 손실을 초래하여 결과적으로 모형의 추정력을 저하시켰다. 그렇지만 다차종 링크관측교통량으로부터 다차종 OD 추정연구는 거의 없었으며, 그 결과가 단일차종에 대한 추정결과와 어떻게 다른지에 대한 연구도 전무하였다. 본 연구에서는 유전알고리즘을 이용한 OD 추정모형을 다수단 OD 추정모형(GAMUC)으로 확대하였다. 사례 분석 결과 단일차종 OD추정기법은 심각한 추정오류를 범할 수 있으며, 그 적용성도 낮다는 것을 보였다. 다차종 OD 추정기법이 단일차종 OD 추정기법보다 양호한 추정력을 보였으며, 다차종 기법 중에서는 GAMUC가 IEAMUC보다 우수한 추정력을 보였다.

A Study on the Implication from Reform of HLC Institutional Accreditation Model (미국 고등학습위원회 기관평가인증제 평가모형 개혁의 시사점에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this research is to find the features of HLC institutional accreditation model and the implication on the second period institutional accreditation of Korea. This research focus on accreditation model, accreditation period, comprehensive evaluation, criteria, decision making for accreditation status and accreditation supporting system. This research draws following suggestions to the second period institutional accreditation of Korea. 1. The institutional accreditation should apply various accreditation models according to the features of institute. 2. The institutional accreditation should focus on the autonomous quality improvement of institute with the quality assurance. 3. The quantitative evaluation should be reduced and qualitative evaluation based on mission and objects should be reinforced. 4. The interim evaluation should be strictly enforced for quality improvement. 5. The government should enlarge reflection the results of accreditation on financial aid to universities. 6. The web-based accreditation supporting system interworking with "Higher Education in Korea" service is needed.

A Study of Safety Accident Prediction Model (Focusing on Military Traffic Accident Cases) (안전사고 예측모형 개발 방안에 관한 연구(군 교통사고 사례를 중심으로))

  • Purpose: This study proposes a method for developing a model that predicts the probability of traffic accidents in advance to prevent the most frequent traffic accidents in the military. Method: For this purpose, CRISP-DM (Cross Industry Standard Process for Data Mining) was applied in this study. The CRISP-DM process consists of 6 stages, and each stage is not unidirectional like the Waterfall Model, but improves the level of completeness through feedback between stages. Results: As a result of modeling the same data set as the previously constructed accident investigation data for the entire group, when the classification criterion was 0.5, Significant results were derived from the accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, and AUC of the model for predicting traffic accidents. Conclusion: In the process of designing the prediction model, it was confirmed that it was difficult to obtain a meaningful prediction value due to the lack of data. The methodology for designing a predictive model using the data set was proposed by reorganizing and expanding a data set capable of rational inference to solve the data shortage.

Determinants of Korea's Trade before and after the 2008 Financial Crisis Activating Augmented Gravity Model (중력모형을 이용한 2008년 금융위기 전후 한국의 교역결정요인 분석)

  • This research analyzes the determinants of Korea's trade using the Gravity model, Chow test and panel data anaysis. According to the pooled panel OLS analysis using the gravity model and Chow-test, Korea's trade patterns before and after the 2008 financial crisis are heterogeneous. Variables of basic gravity model, GDP per capita, distance, and population, identically showed positive and significant correlation with trade volume before and after financial crisis, but also equally showed the decrease in absolute value of coefficient. On the other hands, Overseas Direct Investments(ODI) variable showed the increase in absolute value of coefficient. But TCI was no longer significant. This research is significant in that it is able to show the strategy for the long term growth in Korea's volume of international trade through econometric analysis based on data of 55 trading partner of Korea.

Development of a Design Model for School Library-based Instruction under EduTech (에듀테크 기반 학교도서관활용교육 설계 모형 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a design model for school library based instruction under EduTech. EduTech-based education expands learning boundaries and requires new instructional environments and learning experiences for learner-centered deeper learning. Accordingly, this study modified the ADDIE model based on the system theory and presented a four-stage instructional design model (draft) consisting of 'analysis stage, preliminary learning and development stage, learning management stage, and team teaching evaluation stage.' This model reflects elements of flipped learning, the backward design model, and inquiry-based learning to develop of customized student materials and inquiry activities. In addition, the scope of learning was expanded to include prior learning, face-to-face learning, and additional learning to increase the diversity of collaboration and opportunities to utilize school library materials. Also, Several ways for school library based instruction within EduTec were proposed in terms of teacher librarians' expertise, school library space, budget, standard curriculum development, and comprehensive support system for reading education.
