The Status of Methane Hydrate Development (메탄하이드레이트 개발동향)

  • Most gas hydrates (GH) occur in ocean sediments. Global GH reserves are estimated to be $10^{13}{\sim}20{\times}10^{15}m^3$, which is nearly 1,000 times the amount of current world energy consumption. Methane hydrate (MH) has the potential to be developed into future natural gas resources to replace traditional oil and gas resources, and thus MH production technologies such as depressurization, inhibitor injection, thermal stimulation, and $CO_2-CH_4$ substitution need to be further developed. MH production, which is expected to be in test production until 2014 in Korea, is focused on the development of GH production technologies for use in the commercial production of methane gas. This study compares MH production technology and its ability to meet the twin goals of being both effective and environmentally friendly while taking into consideration the complex phenomena of GH decomposition.

Dispersion of Silicon Nitride Particles and Sintering Additives of AlN and Nd$_2$O$_3$ in Nonaqueous Suspending Media (비수계분산매체에서 질화규소와 소결첨가제 AlN 및 Nd$_2$O$_3$의 분산)

  • The fundamental dispersion property of Si2N4 and a combination of AlN and Nd2O3 as sintering additives in a variety of organic solvents such as alcohols, hydrocarbons, ketones, and ethers was investigated. The stabilization mechanism and interaction between organic functional groups of the various organic additives were studied to clarify the dispersibility of the ceramic particles in the nonaqueous suspending medium. characterization of the suspensions was based mainly on electrokinetic sonic amplitude(ESA) measurements and the flow curves obtained from the rheological studies as well as estimated Hamaker constants. It was found that the contribution of electrostatic repulsive forces to the Si3N4, AlN and Nd2O3 stabilization in organic media is appreciably greater than anticipated and is dependent on the physicochemical properties of organic solvents.

  • 지난해 파리박멸을 위해 사용해오던 일부 사료첨가제 사용이 제한되면서 파리를 퇴치할 수 있는 방안 모색이 다각도로 연구되고 있다. 그동안 무분별하게 사용해온 해충(파리)살충제는 맹독성 유해화학물질로서 환경호르몬을 유발시켜 사람과 가축에게 암, 유산, 기형아출산, 저성장, 스트레스, 정자수감소 등 엄청난 피해를 주고 있어 그 대안이 절실히 요구되고 있다. 그러나 국내 중소기업에서 대한민국 나아가 세계최초로 살충제가 전혀 없는 친환경 해충(파리)스프레이 유인포충제라는 특허기술로 제품개발에 성공하여 3월부터 전국에 출시하면서 업계에 비상한 관심을 보이고 있다.

Soil Stabilization with Lime and Chemical Additives (석회 및 화학첨가제에 의한 건설잔토의 안정처리)

  • 본 연구에서는 울산 삼산지역의 도시 개발로 인하여 다량 발생되고 있는 건설잔토의 유효이용을 목적으로 대상토에 생석회와 화학 첨가제를 혼합하여 안정처리를 할 경우 보조기층 및 노상용 재료로써의 사용 가능성을 평가하였다. 1가 이온($Na^{+}$, $K^{+}$)가 2가 이온(Ca$^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$), 염화물(Cl)과 황산염(So$_4$)으로 구성된 화학 첨가제의 첨가에 따른 일축압축강도를 비교한 결과, 1가 이온의 첨가시 장기강도 발현이 우수한 것으로 나타났고, 염화물(Cl)은 첨가시 강도 발현이 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 건설잔토에 생석회와 CaCl$_2$를 첨가하면, 생석회로 처리된 시료에 비해 2배~4배의 강도가 증가되어 생석회 안정화에 대한 효과가 좋은 것으로 나타났다. 원시료토에 생석회, 생석회와 화학 첨가제로 안정처리하여 도로의 보조기층재료나 노상용 재료로의 사용여부를 평가한 결과, 생석회와 CaCl$_2$로 안정처리한 경우만이 시방기준 CBR 10%이상, 소성지수 10%이하를 만족시켜 노상용 재료로서의 사용가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 최근 환경 문제과 관련하여 건설 분야에서 발생하는 환경적인 부담을 줄이고자 다양한 재활용 소재들에 대한 연구에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 특히 폐기물 중 생활계에서 발생하는 폐플라스틱은 '쓰레기 대란'이라는 사회적 문제로 대두된 사례가 있다. 생활계에서 발생하는 폐비닐은 다양한 조성으로 이루어져 재활용 대상에서 제외되기 때문에 매립 또는 소각되는 플라스틱의 양을 줄이고 재활용율을 늘릴 수 있는 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구는 생활계에서 발생하는 폐비닐을 융용시켜 무기첨가제 등을 한 복합 Alloy를 생산한다. 또한 재생이 가능한 복합 Alloy를 압출 또는 사출 과정을 통해 테트라포드의 형태를 만들 수 있는 Preform으로 가공하는 공정연구 하였으며 이러한 Preform을 해안 및 항만에서 사용되는 콘크리트 피복재에 적용하였을 때 플라스틱 소재와 콘크리트 소재의 비중의 차이로 인해 발생하는 안정성을 정량적으로 평가하는 수리모형 실험를 수행하였다.

An Experimental Study of the Fuel Additive to Improve the Performance of a 2-Stroke Large Diesel Engine (2행정 대형 디젤엔진의 성능향상을 위한 연료첨가제의 실험적 연구)

  • In an effort to reduce the onset of global warming, the International Maritime Organization Marine Environment Protection Committee (IMO MEPC) proposed the reduction in ship speeds as a way of lowering the proportion of carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) in the Green House Gas emissions from ships. To minimize fuel costs, shipping companies have already been performing slow steaming for their own fleets. Specifically, the slow steaming approach has been adopted for most ocean-going container lines. In addition, because of the increased marine fuel cost that is required to enable increased capacity, there is an urgent need for more advanced fuel-saving technologies. Therefore, in this present study, we propose a fuel-cost reduction method that can improve the performance of diesel engines. We introduce a predetermined amount (0.025% of the amount of fuel used) of fuel additive (oil-soluble calcium-based organometallic compound). For improved experimental accuracy, as the test subjects, we utilize a large two-stroke diesel engine installed in land plants. The loads of the test engine were classified as low, medium, and high (50, 75, and 100%, respectively). We compare the engine performance parameters (power output, fuel consumption rate, p-max, and exhaust temperature) before and after the addition of fuel additives. Our experimental results, confirmed that we can realize fuel-cost savings of at least 2% by adding the fuel additive in low load conditions (50%). Likewise, the maximum combustion pressure was found to have increased. On the other hand, we observed that there was a reduction in the exhaust temperature.

Effect of Ethanol as a Dispersant and pH on the Particle Size and Phase Formation in the Synthesis of K+-β"-Al2O3 by Solution State Reaction (액상반응에 의한 K+-β"-Al2O3 합성시 분산첨가제 에탄올과 pH가 입도 및 상형성에 미치는 영향)

  • $K^+-{\beta}^{{\prime}{\prime}}-Al_2O_3$ in the $K_2O-Li_2O-Al_2O_3$ ternary system was synthesized using aluminum nitrate solution as a starting material. For the synthesis of pure $K^+-{\beta}^{{\prime}{\prime}}-Al_2O_3$, raw materials with chemical composition of $0.84K_2O{\cdot}0.082Li_2O{\cdot}5.2Al_2O_3$ were mixed in solution state. The effects of dispersant and solution-pH were investigated in minimizing the particle size and on the synthesis of pure $K^+-{\beta}^{{\prime}{\prime}}-Al_2O_3$. Ethanol was used for a dispersant, and $NH_4OH$ solution and nitric acid were added for pH adjustment. The solution pH was increased from 1.0 to 7.5 by 0.5 increments. Each sample was calcined at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 2 h and characterized with X-ray diffraction and particle size analyzer. The pH of solution significantly effected both particle size and phase formation, while the addition of ethanol only effected particle size. The synthesis of pure $K^+-{\beta}^{{\prime}{\prime}}-Al_2O_3$ was favored by addition of nitric acid (for pH control).

  • 원전 1차 냉각계통내 화학첨가제인 amine 또는 과산화수소를 사용하면서 $^{14}N$(n, P)$^{14}C$$^{17}O$(n, $\alpha$)$^{14}C$의 핵반응으로 생성된 $^{14}C$는 냉각수내에서 방사성 폐기물로 존재하게 된다. 이들 방사성 폐기물은 pH에 따라 다르지만 수용액상에서는 대부분 $CO_2$, $H_2CO_3$, ${HCO_3}^-$${CO_3}^{2-}$로 존재하고, 나머지 약 20% 정도는 유기성 탄소로는 메탄이 존재하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 폐이온 교환수지 내에 존재하는 $^{14}C$는 시간이 경과함에 따라서 방향족 화합물로 이온교환이 발생할 수가 있다.(중략)

  • Replacement of aluminum by copper for interconnections in the semiconductor industry has raised a number of important issues. The integration of copper interconnection can be carried out by CMP(chemical mechanical polishing) is used to planarize the surface topography. In this experiments, we evaluated the optimization of several conditions for chemical additives during Cu CMP process. It was presented that the main cause of grown particle size is tartaric acid. The particle size was in inverse propotion to a quantity of bead and the time of milling process. The slurry stabilizer and oxidizer have been shown to have very good effect by addition in later milling process.
