  • The production of various commodity chemicals including fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, bulk chemicals, plastics, and fuels is based on fossil resources such as petroleum. However, the limited reserves and ever-increasing demand of petroleum lead to the rapid elevation of its price. In addition, the traditional chemical processes using petroleum as a raw material have been imposing a serious environmental burden to our planet including global warming. These problems can be alleviated substantially by employing biological raw materials and bioconversion processes. Industrial biotechnology is expected to significantly complement or replace the current petroleum-based industry and to play an important role in bringing about so-called 'bio-based society'.

  • In order to promote the consumption of small red muscle fish, such as saury, sardine, herring, etc., a new conditioning technique to soften backbone and small bones was investigated by using kimchi seasoning ingredients and organic acids. In the conditioning process, various chemical changes were examined during 60 days at 15 days intervals, The decrease of moisture content and the increase of salt concentration in seasoned fish meat were good correlated respectively. In the dry salt conditioning, the moisture content was more rapidly decreased than wet salt conditioning. The pH of fish meat during conditioning were more slowly decreased in dry salting than in wet salting. The VBN contents were suppressed under 30 mg/100 g in dry salt conditioning during 60 days at $5^{\circ}C$. The addition of rice bran in dry salting was effective on retarding lipid oxidation because the TBA value was most effectively retarded.

  • 원소분석 결과 평균값은 "화합물 및 화학제품 제조업"의 경우 C 33.06wt%, H 4.34wt%, O 24.81wt%, N 5.18wt%, S 0.72wt%로 나타났으며, "코크스, 석유 정제품 및 핵연료 제조업"의 경우 C 36.58wt%, H 4.74wt%, O 26.79wt%, N 5.09wt%, S 0.49wt%로 나타났다. 열중량분석 결과, B사에서 배출되는 슬러지는 $700^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 그리고 F와 N 사에서 배출되는 슬러지는 $600^{\circ}C$ 정도의 온도에서도 연소가 가능할 것으로 판단된다. 연소테스트 결과, 산화반응과 동시에 열분해 반응이 일어나 고농도의 일산화탄소가 배출된다.

  • ETA(Ethanolamine, 에탄올아민)는 Amine의 일종으로 정밀화학 제품의 중간원료로서 화학제품 제조나 비행기 기관 및 원전 2차계통의 부식방지제, 이산화탄소와 같은 산성 성분을 흡수하는 흡수제로 각종 산업에서 다양하게 사용되고 있는 화학물질이다. 이러한 ETA는 탄소와 질소, 산소로 이루어진 매우 안정된 유기화합물로 상온에서는 휘발성을 띠지만, 산/염기 평형상수가 9 이상이므로 9 이하일 경우에는 수중에 존재하며 COD 및 T-N을 유발하므로 제거해야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 수중에 존재하는 ETA를 제거하기 위해 온도와 농도에 따른 양이온교환 및 재생용액의 농도, 반응시간에 따른 양이온 교환수지 재생특성을 조사하였다. 양이온교환 수지의 이온교환능력은 ETA의 농도 및 온도에 영향을 받았으며 농도와 온도가 증가할수록 파과시간은 단축되었다. 양이온교환 수지의 재생효율은 재생액의 농도 및 반응시간에 영향을 받았으며, 재생액의 농도 및 반응시간이 증가할수록 재생효율은 증가하였다.

  • A variety of efforts are attempted to make the world sustainable in fabrication industries worldwide. To achieve the goals, a new design concept for products is one of crucial factors to be able to dismantle them after use in easy and simple ways. New debonding technologies have been developed in recent years for the recycle and/or repair of bonded structures, where the bonds are broken without the damage of the components and make recycling easier. Some representative technologies of controlled delamination materials (CDM) are reviewed with an emphasis on light induced debonding of adhesives. We also describe current applications of light induced CDMs as temporary bondable films in semiconductor and display industries.

  • As the autoclave process progresses in a given cure cycle, residual stress in the composite product is induced by cure shrinkage of the resin. As a result, It generates the thermal deformation such as spring-in and warpage, and the inaccuracy of the final product increases. It is important to predict thermal deformation in aerospace parts which require precise fabrication. The research has been done on predicting and grasping curing process of composite material. In this study, the cure mechanism of composite materials according to the process is predicted through finite element analysis, and the effect of cure shrinkage on thermal deformation generated by the process is analyzed.
