Experimental study on the effect of exhaust ventilation by shafts for case of fire in long traffic tunnels (장대 교통터널 화재시 수직갱의 배연효과에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The objective of this study was to analyze the smoke movement and to investigate the effect of exhaust ventilation using by shafts for case of fire in long tunnels. Based on Froude modeling, the 1/50 scaled model tunnel (20 m long) was constructed by acrylic tubes and test were carried out systematically. The results of the shaft height test show that the effect on exhaust ventilation by a shaft delays the propagation time of backlayering, and the temperature decreases as the shaft height increases. If the fire occurs downstream of the shaft, the backlayering develops to get stronger by the shaft exhaust effect and then the propagation of CO and temperature increase along with propagation of CO. That is to say, in the case of fire downstream of the shaft, the shaft has the advantage of smoke exhaust effects, but it might result in a dangerous situation for the escaping passengers due to the more developed backlayering.

Evaluation of Design Fire Curves for Gas Fires in a Compartment Using CFAST (CFAST를 이용한 구획실 가스화재의 디자인 화재곡선 평가)

  • In this study, the prediction performance of design fire curves (DF) was evaluated for gas fires in a compartment by using CFAST. The CFAST simulations adopted the 2-stage DF suggested by the previous study and the Quadratic and Exponential DF suggested by Ingason. It was found by comparing the simulation and experimental results that the overall prediction performance of the design fire cures for the spatially-averaged temperature and concentrations of $O_2$ and $CO_2$ was, from the most reasonable to the most inaccurate, 2-stage DF > Quadratic DF > Exponential DF. The CFAST simulation could not predict for the difference in the spatially-averaged temperature and concentrations of $O_2$ and $CO_2$ at door and inner side locations in a compartment. The CFAST simulations also showed a limitation in the prediction of the spatially-averaged temperature at lower layer and the concentration of CO.

An Analytical Evaluation of Fire and Explosion Characteristics of Ethylene (에틸렌의 화재 및 폭발 특성치의 분석적 평가)

  • Explosion limit and autoignition temperature are the major properties used to determine the fire and explosion hazards of the flammable substances. Explosion limit and autoignition temperature for safe handling of ethylene were investigated. By using the literatures data, the lower and upper explosion limits of ethylene recommended 2.6vol% and 36vol%, respectively. Also autoignition temperatures of ethylene with ignition sources recommended $420^{\circ}C$ at the electrically heated crucible furnace (the whole surface heating) and recommended about $800^{\circ}C$ in the local hot surface. The new equations for predicting the temperature dependence and the pressure dependence of the lower explosion limits for ethylene are proposed. The values calculated by the proposed equations were a good agreement with the literature data.

  • 본 연구에서는 구획화재의 화재성상을 온도곡선으로 나타내어 시간 경과에 따른 단계별 화재성장을 예측하고자 EN 1991-1-2 Annex A의 이론식을 프로그램화 하였다. 그리고 이를 검증하기 위하여 선행연구 조사 후 선행연구에 사용된 입력 값을 프로그램화 된 이론식에 입력하여 도출된 결과와 선행연구에서 제시하고 있는 결과와 비교 분석하였다.

  • The full-scale compartment fire tests were carried out to evaluate the characteristics of fire resistance of window material under actual fire conditions. The room size used for full-scale room fire tests was 4 by 3.8 m with 2.4 m high ceiling. The windows with PVC, Aluminum and AL+Wood frame materials were established, sofa and mattress were used as fire sources. The window contained pair glasses with the air between 6 mm glasses. Temperatures at total 32 points in the room were measured to find the temperature distribution in the room fire. It is examined that thermal effects on window frame materials such as charring, distortion, melting, structural collapse, and other effects.

  • This study is performed to propose a standard to evaluate fire protection assessment for concrete structures during a fire on road tunnel. Recently, a number of road tunnels have been rapidly increased and fire risk also multiplyed according to extend tunnel length, due to natural features and environmentally-friendly road construction in domestic. But we have not yet been prescribed appropriate time-temperature curve for tunnel fire. Therefore we presented fire design model and investigated time-temperature curve proposed by a foreign country considering traffic, a kinds of vehicles which are a basis of heat rate.

  • In order to improve safety for hydrogen network infrastructure, the ignition temperature by hot wire was investigated for different hydrogen compositions in pipelines. The result shows that minimum temperature for ignition decreased with decreasing hydrogen composition. The minimum temperature was confirmed at a hydrogen composition of approximately 10 vol.%. The one of the reasons is supposed that buoyancy force should generate the convection of gas mixture. It was also found that humidity had a little effect on ignition temperature, flame temperature.

  • 최근 전기차의 기술 발전이 급속도로 증가함에 따라 이차전지의 수요가 증가하게 되었다. 그로인해 다량의 고품질 전지를 생산하기 위해 제조 공장이 가동되고 있지만 생산된 전지의 품질의 핵심이 되는 화성공정의 에이징 과정 진행 중 온도 관리에 실패할 경우, 전지의 폭발 및 화재의 위험이 있다. 본 논문은 이차전지를 생산하는 에이징 공정의 효율적인 온도 관리를 위해 목업 모형을 만들어 온도 센서를 통한 온도 수집 및 모니터링 시스템을 개발하고, 공조기 바람을 통해 전지의 온도가 변화하는 속도를 계산하고, 이상온도에 도달해 고온의 상태가 되었을 경우 주변 전지로 전달되는 열을 시뮬레이션 통한 효율적인 공조 대책을 제시하여 이차전지 생산의 품질 향상과 화재 예방을 통해 전기차 생산에 따른 리튬이온 전지의 수요 해결에 기여한다.
