Development of Notify App for Cosmetics Expiration Date (화장품 유통기한 알림이 앱 개발)

  • An app is designed and developed for safe use of cosmetics by notifying the expiration date of cosmetics. According to increasing uses of cosmetics for modern people, the expiration date of cosmetics is becoming more important. The app proposed in this paper will be used for self management. People may manage themselves by registering the expiration date of their cosmetics. The cosmetics are registered and managed by category. This app also provides some beauty tips depending on the skin types of people.

  • This paper proposes an application which applied in managements of cosmetics and finds applications related with expiration date among applications. In this paper, the application is implemented to improve safety and stability of cosmetics based on android platform. In general, it is hard to use to have all knowledge in many types of cosmetics. Because of that each item have different date to buy and use, it is necessary to manage them efficiently. This paper is designed and implemented the application for management of expiration date to use cosmetics. It helps to use cosmetics safely and serve good information from cosmetics companies connected with this application.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 앱 중에서 여성의 필수품이 화장품과 관련된 앱을 조사 비교하며, 이와 관련해서 필요한 기능을 알아보고 이를 설계하도록 한다. 여성들이 주로 가지고 있는 화장품의 종류는 다양해지고 구입시기 및 개봉 시기가 각각 다르기 때문에 이를 관리해 주는 앱이 필요하다. 여성을 위한 화장품 관련 앱으로써 유통기한 등을 관리하도록 한다. 더 나아가 가상 메이크업기능을 제공하며, 화장품 업체와의 연계를 통해서, 구매 또는 좋은 화장품의 정보를 제공 받는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.

A Study on the Accelerated Life Test for the Estimation of Licorice Durability in Cosmetics (화장품 중 유용성감초추출물의 유통기한 예측을 위한 가속수명 시험연구)

  • Oil soluble licorice extract(licorice extract) is an officially approved cosmetic component as a whitening ingredient in Korea. The durability of licorice, during which the whitening effect can be maintained in optimum condition, must be accurately defined. Since the cosmetics durability under real condition is relatively longer than its development time. It is needed to predict the real durability interval from the experimental measurement under simulated operating conditions. We analyzed the relationship between the licorice lifetime and the high temperature condition by using Arrhenius equation. We have established the constant stress test with temperature of $50^{\circ}C$, $55^{\circ}C$, and $60^{\circ}C$ condition, within which no formulation change of licorice products is expected for the accelerated stress test. In this paper, the lifetime of licorice in cosmetics was defined as time period for its 10% contents reduction. We observed that the lifetime of licorice is 580 h at $50^{\circ}C$, 319 h at $55^{\circ}C$ and 166 h at $60^{\circ}C$. Using the above experimental data, we obtained the equation for the relationship between the licorice lifetime and temperature as follows; log(lifetime)=-35.0243 + 1.15322$\times$(11604.83/temperature). From this equation, the lifetime of licorice at $25^{\circ}C$ can be estimated as 26 months. The estimated result was verified by measuring full lifetime of licorice. In fact, there was no significant difference between the estimated lifetime and real measurement within 95 % significance level. This study can be applied to other useful cosmetic components for the fast estimation of the exact durability.

Development of Smart Packaging for Cream Type Cosmetic (크림 제형 화장품용 스마트 패키징 기술 개발)

  • The degree of cosmetic's oxidation depends on the storage conditions and external conditions when using the product. The microbial contamination and oxygen exposure often results in the quality deterioration of cosmetics. In addition, the problem is that consumers often use cream-type cosmetics, which have short expiration period (6-12 months), even after the product is expired. When using the deteriorated cosmetics, it can be fatal to consumers' safety including some symptoms such as folliculitis, rashes, edema, and dermatitis. Therefore, it is necessary to develop sealed smart packaging for cosmetics to prevent the deterioration of cosmetics and improve consumer safety. In this study, we have developed smart packaging design for cosmetics that can measure the surrounding environment and expiration date for the cosmetics in the real time. In addition, the smart packaging includes sensor, which are linked to the mobile application. Users can find out the measurement results through the application. Also, the packaging design and functions were set up based on the survey results by the user and feasible model can be produced based on user choice. The measurement in the three environment has been done after manufactured the sensor, PCB, and mobile application. As a result, it works normally within a certain range under all three environmental conditions. It is believed that the information on expiration dates and storage environment can be efficiently delivered to the consumers through developed cosmetics smart packaging and applications. The development of UI/UX design for consumer is further studied. The UX/UI design of the application plays an essential role in achieving this goal through the commercialization the cosmetic products in the wide range.

A Study on Integrated Anti-counterfeiting Strategy to stop the forgery for Korean cosmetics in China (중국에서 한국 화장품의 위조근절을 위한 통합적 위조방지 전략 연구)

  • About 60 percent of cosmetic products sold in the dominant Taobao internet shopping mall proved recently to be counterfeit products made in China. This paper is to investigate the anti-counterfeiting strategies to clean up fake goods for Korean cosmetics which have been exported to China. Using the scienter rule the paper classified the forgery action for Korean cosmetics into four broad groups - counterfeit, piracy, illegally distributed product, and brand prior register. This paper suggested interior company's anti-counterfeiting strategies for each group, focusing on the construction for an integrated anti-counterfeiting system including consumer's rationality through the government cooperation between Korea and China.

Manufacture of Yellow Ocher Polystyrene-Based Hybrid Nanoparticles for High-Performance PET Applications (고성능 페트 생산용 폴리스티렌 기반 하이브리드형 나노구조체 생산)

  • The ecofriendly yellow ocher is used in the manufacturing of cosmetics, construction, and food packaging. The polyethylene terephthalate (PET) used for manufacturing food containers has a microporous structure that causes aeration. Hydrophilic yellow ocher may be applied to hydrophobic PET by surface modification to overcome this issue. The aim of this study is to fabricate a yellow ocher polystyrene hybrid structure in the form of nanoparticles using an optimizing molar ratio of styrene, divinylbenzene, and potassium peroxodisulfate for use in emulsion polymerization. The polymerization was conducted in a yellow ocher suspension that was prepared by dispersing mechanically ground yellow ocher in DI water. The prepared hybrid structure was measured using scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The measurement revealed the spherical morphology and Si component that resulted from the yellow ocher in the polystyrene particles. We expect that this hybrid structure would be used as platform material to minimize aeration in PET.

Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) of the selection attributes of functional cosmetics (기능성화장품 선택속성의 IPA(중요도-만족도) 분석)

  • This study aims to generate baseline data for vitalizing the sales of functional cosmetics through an Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) of the selection attributes of functional cosmetics. From the analysis of consumers' selection criteria, the study will assist functional cosmetics companies in reflecting consumer demands and therefore securing competitiveness. For this, general consumers aged over 20 years were surveyed for 5 weeks from Feb 23 through Mar 30, 2015, and 447 empirical data (response rate 88.9%) were processed through SPSS WIN 21.0 program for analysis. To conduct gender difference analysis on the IPA of the selection attributes of functional cosmetics, 17 selection attributes were categorized into 4 factors: functionality, labeling, popularity, and product. Cronbach's alpha for all factors was 0.5, proving the internal consistency and reliability of the survey. The survey results showed that while the entire average came out significantly higher for females (5.89/7points) than for males (5.66/7points) (p<0.001), the selection attributes 'anti-wrinkling', 'whitening function', 'functionality', 'expiration date', 'full ingredient labeling system' and 'various promotional events' showed significant gender differences. IPA results pertaining to gender showed 'price', 'functionality', 'spreadability' and 'full ingredient labeling system' as 2nd quadrant attributes, whereas female consumers selected 'price', 'whitening function', 'anti-wrinkling', 'functionality' and 'full ingredient labeling system' as attributes. Results show that businesses in the field of cosmetics and related areas need to prioritize improving the following factors that received low satisfaction from all consumers: 'price', 'functionality', and 'total labeling.' In particular, the 'price' aspects are considered to require reasonable and affordable pricing.
