Market Segmentation for Freight Transportation has been used to know the strategies both efficiency of freight transportation market and attraction of freight volume for carriers. It was so difficult to understand the individual preference of shippers that all shippers could be only homogenized through market segmentation. In Korea. standard Industrial classification has been used for freight market segmentation. This study evaluated another new market segmentation method for manufacturing industry. From the study, we knew that the best relevant market segmentation criterion was annual input-output volume, which showed excellent segmenting ability. Also. the results showed many differences against segmentation results according to standard industrial classification. This study had a meaning as a new trial which segmented freight transportation market using company size and shipment characteristic data.

전국화물자동차운송사업연합회는 지난 7월 30일 전경련회관 3층 대회의실에서 화물운송 관계전문가 250여명이 참석한 가운데 화물자동차운송산업의 선진화를 위한 토론회를 가졌다. 이날 토론회에서는 화물자동차운송산업의 선진화를 위해 현 화물운송업계의 시장진입제도를 개선하고 규모의 경제실현을 통한 생산성 향상을 위해서 규모화를 유도해야한다는 의견이 제시되는 등 다양한 논의가 이뤄졌다. 본지는 이날 주제 발표로 나선 전국화물자동차 공제조합 부설연구소 임종길 박사가 발표한 내용의 핵심인 ''화물자동차운송산업의 10대 선진화 전략''에 대해 요약 정리해 게재한다.

본 연구는 중국의 WTO 가입 이후 시장규모 확대에 따라 동북아지역 국가들이 자국의 역할 선점과 경쟁력 확보를 위해 취하고 있는 항공화물운송부문의 시설운영과 전략추진 방향을 살펴봄으로써 우리나라의 항공 화물 운송 산업이 보다 경쟁력 있는 산업으로 역할과 제 기능을 다 할 수 있도록 하는데 목적이 있다. 장래 동북아지역 한 · 중 · 일 3국간 항공화물운송부문의 경쟁은 치열할 것으로 예상되는 반면, 국가 간 협력체제 구축도 필요한 시점이다. 지난 몇 년 동안 3국간은 협력체제 구축을 논의했지만, 가시적인 성과가 없는 현 시점에서 보면 보다 전향적인 발상을 기반으로 하는 접근방식이 필요할 것으로 판단된다. 역내운송의 완전 자유화 특히, 항공화물운송 자유화나 공항 운영 주체들 간 지역 내 제휴를 검토해 볼 필요가 있다. 이와 함께 중국, 일본 등의 공항과 항공화물 운송정보 공유, 기술개발과 표준화, 인적교류, 항공사 유치의 공동노력 등과 같은 제휴를 통해 역내 공항 네트워크를 구축하기 위한 방안은 반드시 협의되고, 추진될 필요가 있는 사안이다. 우리 내부적으로는 21세기를 대비한 보다 구체적이고 실천적인 항공화물운송부문의 ‘master plan' 수립과 함께 항공화물운송 주체인 항공사, 화주, 포워더 등 이용자 중심의 비용절감 방안과 항공화물 기반시설의 차질 없는 추진, 항공화물 정보화 등 편리하고 저렴한 운송체계와 처리절차를 수립이 요구된다.

This paper aims to confirm the necessity of the consignment system in Korea's trucking market for the purpose of analyzing the difference in perception between the transportation company and the consignment owner to provide a basis for continuous development of the cargo transportation business. A survey was conducted on the current status of the domestic transportation market with transportation companies and consignment owners, and the perceptions between the two were compared and analyzed. Overall, satisfaction with the consignment system was in the order of transportation companies handling supplies, transportation companies that did not pay supplies, consignment owners belonging to supply companies, and consignment orders belonging to non-volume companies. Similar results were obtained in individual questions. In order for transport companies and consignment owners to coexist and develop in the freight car transport market, it will be necessary to prepare a strategy to increase the satisfaction of consignment owners belonging to transport companies that do not handle relatively low-satisfaction.

As Korea has the economic structure heavily depending on exporting commodities, the importance of both maritime and air transportation mode is significant. Accordingly, for the sustainable and stable export the freight transportation market by mode needs to be developed complementarity each other. This paper, therefore, aims at analysing the LCL commodities transported by the two mode in terms of unit price, freight charge bearability and price structure. For this around 500 bill of lading(B/L) are collected and analysed resulting in deriving the distinctive characteristics of commodities by mode and the implication for price policy.

Domestic trucking transportation market does not have only the poor business environment but also the serious defects on the transportation trading structure. It makes weaken the competitiveness of trucking industry and hinders the development of trucking industry. The problems of trucking industry such as the recession of the Korean economy and decrease of the trucking charge cause the truck drivers suffer. Korean government and national assembly try to change the law of truck transportation business. The suggested law includes the obligation of trucking information networking system and it can make the transportation business structures more efficiently. This article deals with the strategies for the establishment of trucking transportation networking system and examines the cost-benefit analysis assuming the four demand senario. The results suggest the establishment of the information system not based on the individual trucking industry but on the joint industry at the level of the local area. This article also suggests that the information system has a positive financial feasibility.

Rail transportation system are needed to develop proper corresponds to satisfy various demands in freight transportation since there are many problems in rail transportation infrastructure and operation. This paper analyzes characteristics of rail transportation consumers and develops policy for vitality of rail transportation by survey of rail transportation consumers and AHP methodology. This paper is organized as follows. Section 1 presents the description of the objective and the methods for this study. Section 2 presents the description of the methods for analysis of characteristics of consumers of rail freight transportation. Section 3 presents the characteristics of rail transportation consumers by analysis the survey results of rail transportation consumers. Section 4 summarizes our conclusions and discusses further research topics.

Due to structural problems in the transportation market, such as fraudulent competition and multi-level transportation transactions, tariff are not properly refIected to the final trucker even if freight tariff are increased due to diesel price hikes and transportation cost increases. By Launched "standard tariff system" in 2017 based on the trucks, government would tried to guarantee the minimum tariff such that prevents overloading, speeding, and strain for trucker. However, It is necessary to analyze in advance the issue of the system and its impact on container freight. Thus, this study analyzes the issues and countermeasures related to the tariff system that is formed when the "Truck Safety Rates" is introduced, and also analyzes the influence factors of the expenditure cost on the container freight which is applied to the "Truck Safety Rates".

Many foreign freight forwarders make inroads into domestic markets. Korean freight forwarders are not competitive on th domestic logistics area because of higher customer services by foreign freight forwarders in Korea. The purpose of this research is to analyze degree of satisfaction on customer services attributes of freight forwarders in Korea, and to strengthen the competitiveness of customer services by Korea freight forwarders in contrast to foreign investment freight forwarders in Korea. The results of the research could be summarized as follows.: When freight forwarders are selected, the most important customer service attributes have been ranked in order with 'the accuracy management of shipping order' , the reasonable offers of freight rate' and 'the quick arrangement of vessels' when freight forwarders are selected.
