This study proposes that a diving supervisor, who can perform the role of both a field manager and a supervisor, be introduced in the national qualification system. The goal was achieved by surveying the general status of the commercial diving sector, including the statistics of an underwater construction company, commercial diving equipment operation condition, diver working hours, diver supply and demand status, and underwater construction market size. The national qualification and national competency standard (NCS) systems were also analyzed to deduce the role definition and work scope of the diving supervisor. Consequently, the following proposition is made: the diving supervisor should be an "on-site manager with the highest job skill in the commercial diving field, who can perform the on-site process management as well as guide, supervise, and educate project participants and serve as an intermediary between the contractor and the workers." The responsibilities of the diving supervisor are proposed to include "diving planning and operation of the diving team," "diving with surface-supplied air and mixed-gas diving system," "chamber operation," "underwater construction," and "ship salvage." The persistent issues in commercial diving sectors, such as diver career development, management, and worker supervision, are expected to be largely resolved with the introduction of this qualification.
Poly[styrene-b-(ethylene-1-butene)-b-styrene] triblock copolymer (SEBS) was functionalized with 0 to 3.0 phr maleic anhydride and the amount of dicumyl peroxide used as an initiator was varied from 0 to 0.3phr. The gel content of the modified SEBS was determined by xylene extraction and poly(oxymethylene) was blended with the modified SEBS. The impact, tensile, flexural strength and morphologies of the blends were investigated. The Izod impact strength of poly(oxymethylene) was improved through its blending with modified SEBS. However, the Izod impact strength of poly(oxymethylene)/modified SEBS blend decreased above 5% modified SEBS content. Regarding the effect of dicumyl peroxide content on the Izod impact strength, the blend had a maximum Izod impact strength when poly(oxymethylene) was blended with modified SEBS prepared with 0.1 phr dicumyl peroxide. It was also confirmed by SEM micrographs that the average particle size of modified SEBS in poly(oxymethylene)/modified SEBS blends was smaller than that of SEBS in poly(oxymethylene)/SEBS blends.
Unsaturated polyester(UP) resin is one of the major thermosetting resins. It is very useful as the matrix resin of the composite material because of its low viscosity. The polymer resin, however, has several drawbacks; The volume shrinkage occurs during the crosslinking reaction of the UP resin with styrene monomer and the resulting polymer is weak to the alkali and also brittle. The mechanical properties of UP resin can be improved by blending various materials. In this study, polyurethane(PU) was used as a modifier in order to enhance the toughness of the UP resin. The goal of the research is to study the effect of the polyol molecular weight as a PU soft segment and the PU contents on the toughness of PU-modified UP resins. UP/PU polymer network may occur through the reaction between isocyanate group in the methyldiisocyanate(MDI) and hydroxyl group in the UP molecules. The maximum toughness value was shown at 2 wt% of the PU content. This effect results from the incorporation of the PU segment into the UP resin.

The two-level full factorial and mixture design were used to screen ingredient type and to investigate effects of ingredients on properties of alkali surimi gel from frozen white croakers using measurements of a breaking force, deformation and color. The addition of starch decreased a breaking force and deformation of gel regardless of starch type. The breaking force was decreased, but a deformation was not significantly changed (p<0.05) with increasing starch level. The potato starch was more resonable than com and wheat starch for a breaking force and deformation. The bovine plasma protein (BPP) greatly improved a breaking force and deformation. The breaking force and deformation of gel were increased with concentration of BPP. The whiteness of gel was slightly improved with adding starch and non-muscle for all treatments. At 78% moisture, the optimum ratios of ingredients were 89.4∼90.0% for surimi, 5.9∼6.3% for potato starch and 5.0∼5.4% for BPP to obtain above 100g for a breaking force, 4.6 mm for a deformation, and 25.5 for a whiteness.

The floral wall of Lee Sang-beom's House and Atelier, which is No. 171 of the Registrated Cultural Heritage was conserved. In addition, materials characteristics and manufacturing technique have revealed through the scientific analysis. As a result of the analysis, samples were divided into three sections; the support layer that is made from block bricks, the paint layer and the cement mortar layer on the paint layer for the reinforcement of the construction. The higher layer lies, the finer grains it has. Furthermore, a little it was generated a small quantity of pores and calcium carbonates ($CaCO_3$) generated due to aeration of cement mortar. The patterns of letters, animals and plants pattern were expressed in the paint layer by relief and openwork. The results of qualitative analysis of the pigments of the paint layer were detected components of carbon black (C), Fe oxide ($Fe_2O_3$) and oyster shell white ($CaCO_3$, or quicklime). On the other hands, as the conservation of the floral wall, stainless frames were set up for the structural stability, the cement mortar were removed from the surface and the partly damaged and cracked areas were filled with KSE Filler A, B.
It was the 1900s that the damaged materials of stone heritages began to be preserved and managed for the purpose of reuse, especially since cement, an inorganic material, began to be used during the Japanese colonial period. Epoxy resin, an organic material, was introduced to architecture around the turn of the 1990s, and has been being used across the board. In particular, filler mixtures began to be aggressively used for the structural reinforcement of severed materials. The problem was metal stiffeners used for structural reinforcement. The anchorage length varied depending in different conservation scientists, and as a result the secondary damage was apt to occur in the materials. In this study, hereat, a calculation was made of the most effective anchorage length with the minimization of material damage. The results were as in the following: the anchorage length of an 8-milimeter-across (ø8) metal stiffener was found to be most effective at 60.88mm. Those of ø12 and ø16 were 60.88mm and 91.32mm respectively. In the case of other calibers, the anchorage length was calculated by a formula ${\ell}_d=a_tf_y/u{\Sigma}_0$. In the experiment, helically-threaded round bars were used as metal stiffeners in order that they could bear surcharge loads such as bending, shear and constriction.

A package type of SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system that was proposed for removing the $NO_x$ found in flue gas from the small scale of air pollution sources was evaluated. The efficiency of the SCR system is determined by the proper utilization of catalytic media installed inside of the system, and the proper distribution of flow velocity and $NH_3$ concentration in the flue gas is a crucial factor for using the catalytic media. In this study, the distributions of $NH_3$ concentration were estimated under the various arrays and shapes of AIG at the given gas flow condition. The value of RMS (%) in $NH_3$ concentration is 95.3% at co-current flow (at $0^{\circ}$) injection but it is 90.1% at the condition of counter-current flow (at $120^{\circ}$) condition, which implies the counter-current injection is more favorable. By rearranging the $NH_3$ injection flow rates based on the distribution of velocity and $NH_3$ distribution in basic calculation, the value of RMS (%) in $NH_3$ concentration was reduced to 62.8%. The enhanced effect of $NH_3$ mixing by the combined effect of arrays and shapes are complied in the study.
Microcapsules consisting of natural, biodegradable polymers for controlled and/or sustained core release applications are needed. Physicochemical properties of whey proteins suggest that they may be suitable wall materials in developing such microcapsules. The objectives of the research were to develop water-insoluble, whey protein-based microcapsules containing a model water-soluble drug using a chemical cross-linking agent, glutaraldehyde, and to investigate core release from these capsules at simulated physiological conditions. A model water soluble drug, theophylline, was suspended in whey protein isolate (WPI) solution. The suspension was dispersed in a mixture of dichloromethane and hexane containing 1% biomedical polyurethane. Protein matrices were cross-linked with 7.5-30 ml of glutaraldehyde-saturated toluene (GAST) for 1-3 hr. Microcapsules were harvested, washed, dried and analyzed for core retention, microstructure, and core release in enzyme-free simulated gastric fluid (SGF) and simulated intestinal fluid (SIF) at 37$^{\circ}C$, A method consisting of double emulsification and heat gelation was also developed to prepare water-insoluble, whey protein-based microcapsules containing anhydrous milkfat (AMF) as a model apolar core. AMF was emulsified into WPI solution (15-30%, pH 4.5-7.2) at a proportion of 25-50% (w/w, on dry basis). The oil-in-water emulsion was then added and dispersed into corn oil (50 $^{\circ}C$)to form an O/W/O double emulsion and then heated at 85$^{\circ}C$ for 20 min for gelation of whey protein wall matrix. Effects of emulsion composition and pH on core retention, microstructure, and water-solubility of microcapsules were determined. Overall results suggest that whey proteins can be used in developing microcapsules for controlled and sustained core release applications.
Reinforced Calcium-alginate gel entrappment method for enzyme immobilization is described with an example of penicillin amidase from Bacillus megaterium KFCC 10029, a partially constitutive mutant of B. megaterium ATCC 14945. Penicillin amidase recovered from the fermentation broth by adsorption on celite is mixed with alginate and gelatin solution, and cast into a pellet or noodle form by coagulation in calcium salt solution followed by crosslinking with glutaraldehyde. Optimum pH and temperature of the immobilized enzyme preparation were 8.0 and 6$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. Kinetic constants such as Km value and the inhibition constant of 6-APA and phenylacetic acid were 2.6 mM, 7.4 mM and 21.2 mM, respectively. The enzyme leakage from the adsorbent during operation was successfully prevented owing to the increase of physical strength of gel coat. The half lives in a column reactor were 6 and 30 days at the respective temperature of 4$0^{\circ}C$ and 3$0^{\circ}C$, which were the 6-8 fold increased values as compared with those of without entrappment. The results highly recommended the use of reinforced Calcium-alginate gel entrappment method for the enhancement of physical strength and the operational stability of alginate gel entrapped enzyme.

The objective of this study was to find an environment friendly method of ginseng storage disease control using a natural plant extract. Essential oil was evaluated in terms of its antifungal ability against a variety of ginseng storage pathogens, and a variety of essential oils was conducted in order to assess the possibility of applying them as a component of a disease control strategy. Direct treatment with essential oil was demonstrated to exert a ginseng storage control effect. Methyl eugenol and thymol were shown to exert a mycelial growth inhibition effect of 80% on PDA media, using a paper disc containing 200 ppm of essential oil against Botrytis cinerea. The application of direct methyl eugenol treatment to ginseng resulted in a profound control effect. Both spray and dipping treatment of each methyl eugenol as well as thymol, evidenced a disease develoment of 10-20% as compared with the over 80% observed from all non-treated packages. Methyl eugenol in the large packages resulted in a disease index of 0.60 in the two essential oil treatments and also a small diseased area, as compared with the disease index of 1.65 and the wide diseased area observed in the non-treatment groups. Treatment with a mixture (methyl eugenol + thymol) in the synergistic effect test resulted in a relatively wide diseased area, as no discernable synergistic effect was detected. Methyl eugenol and thymol can be utilized as control agents in an environmentally friendly ginseng storage treatment, owing to the avirulent and clear effects detected in this study. In particular, ginseng must be ingested when fresh, and this is why a product for the control of ginseng storage diseases is so necessary.
