  • Recently, the advanced condition monitoring methods such as the model-based method and the artificial intelligent method have been applied to maximize the availability as well as to minimize the maintenance cost of the aircraft gas turbines. Among them the non-linear GPA(Gas Path Analysis) method and the GA(Genetic Algorithms) have lots of advantages to diagnose the engines compared to other advanced condition monitoring methods such as the linear GPA, fuzzy logic and neural networks. Therefore this work applies both the non-linear GPA and the GA to diagnose AE3007 turbofan engine for an aircraft, and in case of having sensor noise and bias it is confirmed that the GA is better than the GPA through the comparison of two methods.

  • 만곡부, 합류부 등의 복잡한 지형을 갖는 자연하천에서의 오염물의 혼합 거동에 대한 이해는 수자원의 관리에 있어서 매우 중요하다. 특히 하폐수처리장과 같은 처리시설의 방류수와 같이 연속적으로 유입되는 오염물의 경우 하천 생태계에 지속적인 영향을 끼치며, 이러한 방류수는 대부분 지류를 통해 본류로 유입되게 된다. 이러한 오염물질이 지류로부터 본류로 합류되는 초기구간(near-field)의 경우, 횡방향 및 연직방향의 혼합 거동에 대한 상세한 분석이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 금호강과 진천천이 좌안으로부터 합류되는 낙동강 중류 구간에서의 초기 혼합 구간의 연구를 위하여 전기전도도(electrical conductivity: EC)를 이용한 농도 추적 실험을 수행하였다. 수온, 전기전도도, 이온화 물질 등과 같은 자연 추적자(natural tracers)를 이용하는 농도 추적 실험은 인공추적자 물질을 이용한 실험을 대체할 수 있는 방안으로서, 기존 추적자 실험과 비교하여 경제적, 환경적인 효과와 하폭이 넓은 중규모 이상의 하천에서도 수행할 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 있다. 실험 구간에서 합류되는 2개의 지류 모두 인근 하폐수처리장으로부터 방류수가 연속적으로 유입된다. 본류에서 정해진 측선을 따라 센서가 설치된 보트를 이용하여 실시간으로 농도, 수리량 데이터를 GPS 위치 데이터와 함께 취득하였다. 실험 수행 결과, 지류인 금호강과 진천천의 EC 농도가 합류 전 낙동강 본류의 EC 기저농도보다 더 높은 값을 나타내었다. 이후 지류가 합류된 직후의 측선에서 측정한 EC 농도분포를 분석한 결과, 연직방향의 편차가 크게 나타나는 것으로 나타났으며 특히 유량이 낮을수록 연직 방향 편차가 커지는 경향을 보였다. 전반적으로 수심이 깊은 구간의 저층부로 갈수록 전기전도도의 값이 증가하는 경향을 나타났으며 흐름방향으로 진행됨에 따라 연직 편차가 줄어드는 경향을 보였다. 횡방향 혼합의 경우 지류의 유입으로 인하여 본류 좌안 쪽에서 전기전도도의 값의 상승을 확인할 수 있었으며 하류로 이동할수록 불균등했던 전기전도도의 분포가 횡방향 혼합을 통하여 균등한 분포로 전환되는 것으로 나타났다.

Determination of Combustion Propagation Velocity of Thermite Reaction Mixture Using Continuous VOD Measurement System (연속적 폭굉속도 측정 시스템을 이용한 테르밋 반응 혼합물의 연소전파속도 측정에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to develop a method for monitoring continuously the combustion propagation behavior of commercial thermite reaction mixtures using conventional continuous VOD (velocity of detonation) system. In order to monitor the combustion front propagation with elapsed time during thermite reaction, the VOD system employs two types of commercial VOD probes and one self-made probe: VOD PROBEROD-OS, VOD PROBEROD-HS and VOD PROBEROD-ES, respectively. Among the probes, the only self made VOD PROBEROD-ES successfully demonstrates the velocity of combustion propagation (VOC) with elapsed time. It was found that VOC of the thermite reaction mixture inside a steel tube has been reached around 200m/s within 100mm distance from the ignition and dramatically increased up to about twice the speed of sound in the range between 100mm and 300mm distance. Finally the VOC reached up to around 800m/s. This results imply that it is necessary to use over 300mm long cartridge of thermite reaction mixture in order to achieve normal VOC of the mixture.

Pattern recognition and characteristics of basic taste substances using the evanescent wave in multichannel optical fiber sensor (소산파를 이용한 다채널 광섬유형 미각센서의 제작 및 기본 맛에 대한 패턴분석)

  • In this study, a multichannel taste sensor using the evanescent field absorption in fiber optic was developed, and evaluated its characteristics for several basic taste substances. This sensor is based on the change of evanescent field absorption at the surface of optical fiber core layer. The sensor device was made of a plastic-clad-silica fiber (3M Co., FP-400-UHT, core diameter $400\;{\mu}m$) and a middle portion of cladding layer was removed and the surface of stripped fiber core was dip-coated with a sensing membrane. And then, it was determined the difference of evanescent field absorption into the sensing membrane, according to various taste substances and its concentrations variance. The sensing membranes were prepared with six kinds of dyes, were known as potential sensitive dye together with silicone polymer the same refractive index of cladding. Each output patterns were obtained from the sensor devices could be distinguished not only five kinds of basic taste substances such as sweetness, saltiness, sourness, bitterness and umami, but also various mixed taste substances.

  • PVC membrane, which has been used for membrane of electrolyte sensors, shortened sensor lifetime due to poor adhesion to sensor surface and exhibited difficulty in standardization and mass-production. To overcome these problems, the membrane solution was prepared with neutral carrier, matrix(TEOS:DEDMS=1:3), solvent(ethanol), and a catalyzer(HCl). The fabricated electrolyte sensors showed typical electrical characteristics of MISFET (metal-insulator-semiconductor field-effect transistor). The K-, Ca- and Na-ISFETs showed sensitivity of 53, 25 and 50 mV/decade in wide concentration range, respectively. The response time was about 90 seconds and the drift was 0.05mV/hour. These results suggest that the sol-gel method and the lift-off technique can be applied to formation of membranes and expected to improve mass-productivity, standardzation of the sensors.

  • In general, there are many sensors for fuel injection control such as an air flow sensor, an air intake temperature sensor, a cooling water temperature sensor, a throttle position sensor, and a motor position sensor. In this paper, we proposed a method for controlling the amount of fuel consumption in cars using fuzzy control technique by temperature change of an air intake temperature sensor and air-fuel ratio, the ratio of air and fuel mixture. In the proposed method, the amount of fuel injection is controlled by fuzzy membership functions and fuzzy inference rules established for air-fuel ratio, air intake temperature, and final fuel compensation, after computing air-fuel values using each amount of air intake and each amount of fuel injection. We verified that the proposed method is more efficient than conventional methods in fuel injection control from the results of the simulation program.

  • 기후변화로 동절기 기온 저하에 따른 수도계량기의 동파는 지속적으로 심화되고 있으며, 이는 계량기 교체 비용, 누수, 누수량 동결에 의한 2차 피해, 단수 등 사회적 문제를 야기한다. 이와같은 문제를 해결하고자 구조적 대책으로 개별 가정에서 동파 방지형 계량기를 설치할 수 있으나 이를 위한 비용발생이 상당하고, 비구조적 대책으로는 기상청의 동파 지도 알림 서비스를 활용하여 사전적으로 대응하고자 하나, 기상청자료는 대기 온도를 중심으로 제공하고 있기 때문에 해당서비스만으로는 계량기의 동파를 예측하는데 필요한 추가적인 다양한 변수를 활용하는데 한계가 있다. 최근 정부와 공공부문에서 22개 지역, 110개소 이상의 수도계량기함내 IoT 온도센서를 시범 설치하여 계량기 함내의 상태 등을 확인할 수 있는 사업을 수행했다. 전국적인 계량기 상태의 예측과 진단을 위해서는 추가적인 센서 설치가 필요할 것이나, IoT센서 설치 비용 등의 문제로 추가 설치가 더딘 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 겨울 동파 예방을 위해 실제 온도센서를 기반으로 가상센서를 구축하고, 이를 혼합한 하이브리드 방식으로 동파위험 기준에 따라 전국 동파위험 지도를 구축하였다. 가상센서 개발을 위해 독립변수로 위경도, 고도, 음·양지, 보온재 여부 및 기상정보(기온, 강수량, 풍속, 습도)를 활용하고, 종속변수로 실제 센서의 온도를 사용하여 기계학습 모델을 개발하였다. 지역 특성에 따라 정확한 모델을 구축하기 위해 위치정보 및 보온재여부 등의 변수를 활용하여 K-means 방법으로 군집화 하였으며, 각 군집별로 3가지의 기계학습 회귀모델을 적용하였다. 최적의 군집 수를 검토한 결과 4개가 적정한 것으로 판단되었다. 군집의 특성은 지역별 구분과 유사한 패턴을 보이며, 모든 군집에서 Gradient Boosting 회귀모델을 적용하는 것이 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 개발한 모델을 바탕으로 조건에 따라 동파 예측 알람서비스에 실무적으로 활용할 수 있도록 양호·주의·위험·매우위험 총 4개의 기준을 설정하였다. 실제 본 연구에서 개발된 알고리즘을 국가상수도정보 시스템에 반영하여 테스트 수행중에 있으며, 향후 지속 검증을 할 예정에 있다. 이를 통해 동파 예방 및 피해 최소화, 물절약 등 직간접적 편익이 기대된다.

Estimation of surface nitrogen dioxide mixing ratio in Seoul using the OMI satellite data (OMI 위성자료를 활용한 서울 지표 이산화질소 혼합비 추정 연구)

  • We, for the first time, estimated daily and monthly surface nitrogen dioxide ($NO_2$) volume mixing ratio (VMR) using three regression models with $NO_2$ tropospheric vertical column density (OMIT-rop $NO_2$ VCD) data obtained from Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) in Seoul in South Korea at OMI overpass time (13:45 local time). First linear regression model (M1) is a linear regression equation between OMI-Trop $NO_2$ VCD and in situ $NO_2$ VMR, whereas second linear regression model (M2) incorporates boundary layer height (BLH), temperature, and pressure obtained from Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) and OMI-Trop $NO_2$ VCD. Last models (M3M & M3D) are a multiple linear regression equations which include OMI-Trop $NO_2$ VCD, BLH and various meteorological data. In this study, we determined three types of regression models for the training period between 2009 and 2011, and the performance of those regression models was evaluated via comparison with the surface $NO_2$ VMR data obtained from in situ measurements (in situ $NO_2$ VMR) in 2012. The monthly mean surface $NO_2$ VMRs estimated by M3M showed good agreements with those of in situ measurements(avg. R = 0.77). In terms of the daily (13:45LT) $NO_2$ estimation, the highest correlations were found between the daily surface $NO_2$ VMRs estimated by M3D and in-situ $NO_2$ VMRs (avg. R = 0.55). The estimated surface $NO_2$ VMRs by three modelstend to be underestimated. We also discussed the performance of these empirical modelsfor surface $NO_2$ VMR estimation with respect to otherstatistical data such asroot mean square error (RMSE), mean bias, mean absolute error (MAE), and percent difference. This present study shows a possibility of estimating surface $NO_2$ VMR using the satellite measurement.

An Experimental Study on Combustion Instability Characteristics of Various Fuel-Air Mixing Section Geometry in a Model Dump Shape Combustor (모형 덤프 연소기에서 혼합기 유입구 길이 변화에 따른 연소불안정 특성에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • The main objective of this study was investigation of natural gas flames in a lean premixed swirl-stabilized dump combustor with an attention focused on the effect of the various fuel-air mixing section geometry on the combustion instability characteristics. The multi-channel dynamic pressure transducers were located on the combustor and inlet mixing section region to observe combustion pressure oscillation and difference phase at each dynamic pressure measurement results. Dynamic pressures were also measured to investigate characteristics of combustion at the same time. The combustor and mixing section length was varied in order to have different acoustic resonance characteristics from 800 to 1800 mm in combustor and 470, 550, 870 mm in mixing section. We observed two dominant instability frequencies in this study. Lower frequencies were obtained at lower equivalence ratio region and it was associated with a fundamental longitudinal mode of combustor length. Higher frequencies were observed in higher equivalence ratio conditions. It was related to secondary longitudinal mode of coupled with the combustor and mixing section. In this instability characteristics, pressure oscillation of mixing section part was larger than pressure oscillation of combustor. As a result, combustion instability was strongly affected by acoustic characteristics of combustor and mixing section geometry.

Evaluation Methods of Homogeneity for Feedstocks and Effect of Homogeneity on the Magnetic Properties of Plastic Magnets (플라스틱 자석 혼합물의 균질도 평가방법과 균질도가 자기특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Homegeneous feedstock is necessary to make plastic magents with uniform magnetic properties, therefore the optrimized mixing route and the homogeneity evaluation method are demanded. In this paper, method of homogeneity evaluation and effect of homogeneity on the magnetic prperites were investigated using Sr-ferrite /EVA plastic magnets. The feedstocks with different homogeneity were prepared using batch mixer and single screw extruder. The homogeneities of feedstocks were tested by torgue sensor, capilary rheometer, and measurement of magnetic properties. Mixing torque measurement using torque sensor was an effective method to determine the critical powder loading, but it was nor suitable to suitable to determine the feedstock mixing quality. Particle alignment measurement of a plastic magent was very accurate to evaluate the homogeneity, but expensive equipments were required to make and measure the samples. Pressure measurement using capillary rheometer was a very effective and easy method with high accuracy. Homogeneous feedstock increased the particle alignment of plastic magnet. Remanet flux density and maximum energy product increased linearly and quadratically with increasing particle alignment, respectively.
