The present experiment was carried out to examine the mechanism of cytotoxicity of Chromium in CHO cells. Chromium induced chromosomal aberrations in a dose-dependent manner. The most frequent type of aberration was chromatid deletions and chromosome type exchanges were also observed. Ultrafiltrates of culture media from CHO cells treated with Chromium induced sister chromatid exchanges(SCE) in CHO cells and Chromium induced lipid peroxidation. It was suggested that indirect effect through formation of clastogenic factor(CF) as well as direct effect on DNA might contribute to the cytotoxicity of Chromium.

We made a revised catalogue for reliable records of meteor outbursts that were recorded in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese chronicles. In order to avoid the effects of both Earth's precession and perihelion shift, we introduced a new time-coordinate of records, or the number of days elapsed within the sidereal year of the record for a given origin of time or the perihelion passage time of the you 2000. We added nineteen new records of meteor showers that are wrongly classified i, individual meteors in a Chinese archive. We found that the ${\eta}-Aquarids,$ the Perseids, the Orionids, and the Leonids have been active during the last two millennia. Due to the change of time-coordinate, the oldest record of each long-lasting meteor shower has been slightly corrected. We discuss that these long-lasting meteor showers belong to the Halley-type comets.

Recently the program of direct payment for rural landscape conservation attracts great interests as it may help disadvantaged rural people. Recognized the effect of the program to improve the rural landscape and economy, it has been suggested that the program of direct payment for rural landscape conservation should be expanded. This paper presents the measures and status of Environmental Stewardship, the direct payment program for landscape conservation in England, as following; 1) rural development policies in UK organized under EU, 2) measures and agreements for rural landscape management, 3) the statues of ES enforcement. We sampled a pilot farm, surveyed inside and outside landscape of the farm, and interviewed local government officers and farmers in order to find policy implication.

We obtained the CN($\Delta_V=0$) and $C_2(\Delta_V=0,\;\pm1$) spectra of comet Hale-Bopp(C/1995 O1) at the Kyunghee Observatory and Bohyunsan Astronomical Observatory between March 7 and May 12, 1997 The fluxes for each molecular band were measured and then the production rates and column densities of CN and $C_2$ were calculated using a simple model. The resultantproduction rates of CN and $C_2$ are logQ(CN)=27.4 at r=0.94 AU(preperihelion) and $logQ(C_2)=27.3$ at r=0.94 AU(postperihelion), respectively.

Refining of powder particles and their dissolution into the Al matrix during mechanical alloying(MA) were investigated by using X-ray diffraction(XRD) transmission electron microscopy (TEM) functions of alloy composition, milling time and ball to powder ratio(BPR). It is found that Ti particles less than 20nm are observed in a dark field image of mechanically alloyed Al-10wt%Ti whose XHD pattern exhibits no Ti peak. The observed change of lattice constant of AI indicates that about 1 wt%Ti can he solved in Al after MA for a long time, independent of alloy composition, milling time and BPR, suggesting that most of Ti particles arc retained in the Al matrix. It is concluded that the disappearance of XRD peaks in mechanically alloyed Al-10wt%Ti is not simply attributable to the dissolution of Ti into Al, but associated mainly with extreme refining and/or heavy straining of Ti Particles.

This study aimed to examine the reliability and validity of a diagnostic instrument to be used to measure the developmental level of very young children (aged birth through 36 months) and to screen young children at risk. The subjects of this study were 861 young children. Data were analyzed by item response distribution, item discrimination, reliability, and validity of the scale. Items reflected the developmental level of each age group. Overall internal consistency was relatively high (Cronbach's ${\alpha}=.90{\sim}.95$), and test-retest (after 2 weeks) reliability was high. Content validity was examined by a panel of experts in the related field. The construct validity as well as the concurrent validity of this instrument was also established.
