An analysis of dependency relation is a job that determines the governor and the dependent between words in sentence. The dependency relation of predicate is established by patterns and selectional restriction of subcategorization of the predicate. This paper proposes a method of analysis of Korean dependency relation using homograph predicate disambiguated in morphology analysis phase. The disambiguated homograph predicates has each different pattern. Especially reusing a stage transition training dictionary used during tagging POS and homograph, we propose a method of fixing the dependency relation of {noun+postposition, predicate}, and we analyze the accuracy and an effect of homograph for analysis of dependency relation. We used the Sejong Phrase Structured Corpus for experiment. We transformed the phrase structured corpus to dependency relation structure and tagged homograph. From the experiment, the accuracy of dependency relation by disambiguating homograph is 80.38%, the accuracy is increased by 0.42% compared with one of undisambiguated homograph. The Z-values in statistical hypothesis testing with significance level 1% is ${\mid}Z{\mid}=4.63{\geq}z_{0.01}=2.33$. So we can conclude that the homograph affects on analysis of dependency relation, and the stage transition training dictionary used in tagging POS and homograph affects 7.14% on the accuracy of dependency relation.

In the political field of news articles, there are polarized and biased characteristics such as conservative and liberal, which is called political bias. We constructed keyword-based dataset to classify bias of news articles. Most embedding researches represent a sentence with sequence of morphemes. In our work, we expect that the number of unknown tokens will be reduced if the sentences are constituted by subwords that are segmented by the language model. We propose a document embedding model with subword tokenization and apply this model to SVM and feedforward neural network structure to classify the political bias. As a result of comparing the performance of the document embedding model with morphological analysis, the document embedding model with subwords showed the highest accuracy at 78.22%. It was confirmed that the number of unknown tokens was reduced by subword tokenization. Using the best performance embedding model in our bias classification task, we extract the keywords based on politicians. The bias of keywords was verified by the average similarity with the vector of politicians from each political tendency.
Developing a high-performance Semantic Role Labeling (SRL) system for a domain requires manually annotated training data of large size in the same domain. However, such SRL training data of sufficient size is available only for a few domains. Performances of Korean SRL are degraded by almost 15% or more, when it is directly applied to another domain with relatively small training data. This paper proposes two techniques to minimize performance degradation in the domain transfer. First, a domain adaptation algorithm for Korean SRL is proposed which is based on the prior model that is one of domain adaptation paradigms. Secondly, we proposed to use simplified features related to morphological and syntactic tags, when using small-sized target domain data to suppress the problem of data sparseness. Other domain adaptation techniques were experimentally compared to our techniques in this paper, where news and Wikipedia were used as the sources and target domains, respectively. It was observed that the highest performance is achieved when our two techniques were applied together. In our system's performance, F1 score of 64.3% was considered to be 2.4~3.1% higher than the methods from other research.

This study developed a chatbot for first-year high school students, employing open-source software and the Korean Sentence-BERT model for AI-powered document classification. The chatbot utilizes the Sentence-BERT model to find the six most similar Q&A pairs to a student's query and presents them in a carousel format. The initial dataset, built from online resources, was refined and expanded based on student feedback and usability throughout over the operational period. By the end of the 2023 academic year, the chatbot integrated a total of 30,819 datasets and recorded 3,457 student interactions. Analysis revealed students' inclination to use the chatbot when prompted by teachers during classes and primarily during self-study sessions after school, with an average of 2.1 to 2.2 inquiries per session, mostly via mobile phones. Text mining identified student input terms encompassing not only science-related queries but also aspects of school life such as assessment scope. Topic modeling using BERTopic, based on Sentence-BERT, categorized 88% of student questions into 35 topics, shedding light on common student interests. A year-end survey confirmed the efficacy of the carousel format and the chatbot's role in addressing curiosities beyond integrated science learning objectives. This study underscores the importance of developing chatbots tailored for student use in public education and highlights their educational potential through long-term usage analysis.

In this paper, we have evaluated and compared each feature and feature combinations necessary for statistical Korean dialogue act classification. We have implemented a Korean dialogue act classification system by using the Support Vector Machine method. The experimental results show that the POS bigram does not work well and the morpheme-POS pair and other features can be complementary to each other. In addition, a small number of features, which are selected by a feature selection technique such as chi-square, are enough to show steady performance of dialogue act classification. We also found that the last eojeol plays an important role in classifying an entire sentence, and that Korean characteristics such as free order and frequent subject ellipsis can affect the performance of dialogue act classification.
With the rapid evolution of the Internet and mobile environments, text including spelling errors such as newly-coined words and abbreviated words are widely used. These spelling errors make it difficult to develop NLP (natural language processing) applications because they decrease the readability of texts. To resolve this problem, we propose a spelling error correction model using a spelling error correction dictionary and a newspaper corpus. The proposed model has the advantage that the cost of data construction are not high because it uses a newspaper corpus, which we can easily obtain, as a training corpus. In addition, the proposed model has an advantage that additional external modules such as a morphological analyzer and a word-spacing error correction system are not required because it uses a simple string matching method based on a correction dictionary. In the experiments with a newspaper corpus and a short message corpus collected from real mobile phones, the proposed model has been shown good performances (a miss-correction rate of 7.3%, a F1-measure of 97.3%, and a false positive rate of 1.1%) in the various evaluation measures.

In this paper, we propose a rule-based model to correct errors in a speech recognition result in the mobile device environment. The proposed model considers the mobile device environment with limited resources such as processing time and memory, as follows. In order to minimize the error correction processing time, the proposed model removes some processing steps such as morphological analysis and the composition and decomposition of syllable. Also, the proposed model utilizes the longest match rule selection method to generate one error correction candidate per point, assumed that an error occurs. For the purpose of deploying memory resource, the proposed model uses neither the Eojeol dictionary nor the morphological analyzer, and stores a combined rule list without any classification. Considering the modification and maintenance of the proposed model, the error correction rules are automatically extracted from a training corpus. Experimental results show that the proposed model improves 5.27% on the precision and 5.60% on the recall based on Eojoel unit for the speech recognition result.

Sentiment analysis is the automated process of understanding attitudes and opinions about a given topic from written or spoken text. One of the sentiment analysis approaches is a dictionary-based approach, in which a sentiment dictionary plays an much important role. In this paper, we propose a method to automatically generate Korean sentiment lexicon from the well-known English sentiment lexicon called VADER (Valence Aware Dictionary and sEntiment Reasoner). The proposed method consists of three steps. The first step is to build a Korean-English bilingual lexicon using a Korean-English parallel corpus. The bilingual lexicon is a set of pairs between VADER sentiment words and Korean morphemes as candidates of Korean sentiment words. The second step is to construct a bilingual words graph using the bilingual lexicon. The third step is to run the label propagation algorithm throughout the bilingual graph. Finally a new Korean sentiment lexicon is generated by repeatedly applying the propagation algorithm until the values of all vertices converge. Empirically, the dictionary-based sentiment classifier using the Korean sentiment lexicon outperforms machine learning-based approaches on the KMU sentiment corpus and the Naver sentiment corpus. In the future, we will apply the proposed approach to generate multilingual sentiment lexica.
An automated minutes summary system is required to objectively summarize and classify the contents of discussions or discussions for decision making. This paper designs and implements a minutes summary system using word2vec model to complement the existing minutes summary system. The proposed system is further implemented with word2vec model to remove index words during morpheme analysis and to extract representative sentences with common opinions from documents. The proposed system automatically classifies documents collected during the meeting process and extracts representative sentences representing the agenda among various opinions. The conference host can quickly identify and manage all the agendas discussed at the meeting through the proposal system. The proposed system analyzes various agendas of large-scale debates or discussions and summarizes sentences that can be representative opinions to support fast and accurate decision making.

Recently, big data analysis can use various techniques according to the development of machine learning. Big data collected in reality lacks an automated refining technique for the same or similar terms based on semantic analysis of the relationship between words. Since most of the big data is described in general sentences, it is difficult to understand the meaning and terms of the sentences. To solve these problems, it is necessary to understand the morphological analysis and meaning of sentences. Accordingly, NLP, a technique for analyzing natural language, can understand the word's relationship and sentences. Among the NLP techniques, the transformer has been proposed as a way to solve the disadvantages of RNN by using self-attention composed of an encoder-decoder structure of seq2seq. In this paper, transformers are used as a way to form associations between words in order to understand the words and phrases of sentences extracted from big data.
