A Study on the Development of Virtual Reality Framework for Visualizing Rotor Dynamics Data on Immersive VR Environments (몰입형 가상현실 환경에서의 로터 동역학 데이터 가시화를 제어하는 가상현실 프레임워)

  • 컴퓨터에서 생성된 시뮬레이션의 결과는 일련의 가시화(VIsualization)라는 과정을 거치면서 컴퓨터 그래픽스 기술이 적용됨으로써 인간이 해석하기 쉬운 형태로 변형되게 된다. 연구자가 직관적으로 이해하기 어려운 수치의 나열로 구성돼 있던 시뮬레이션 데이터가 보다 쉽게 이해하고 분석할 수 있게 되는 것이다. 그런데, 최근에는 고성능 컴퓨터(HPC)의 발달로 인해 시뮬레이션 데이터의 크기가 점점 더 증가하는 추세에 있으며, 데이터의 크기가 기가바이트를 넘어 테라바이트에 이르는 경우도 흔해지고 있다. 기존의 가시화 시스템에서 복잡해진 가시화 데이터를 면밀하게 해석하기에는 많은 제약이 따르며, 그로 인해 고해상도 디스플레이 장치나 몰입형 가상현실 장치의 도입은 필연적일 수밖에 없다. 특히 현 시점에서 클러스터 시스템을 이용한 고해상도의 디스플레이 장치에서 사용자와 상호작용할 수 있는 인터페이스를 제공하는 방법은 가상현실 환경을 적절히 활용하는 것이 거의 유일하다 할 수 있겠다. 본 논문에서는 시뮬레이션 데이터, 특히 로터 동역학 분야의 시뮬레이션 데이터를 가상현실 환경에서 가시화하고 제어하는데 필요한 프레임워크와 인터페이스를 소개할 것이다. 이 프레임워크는 가상현실 환경에서 로터 동역학 분야의 시뮬레이션 데이터와의 실시간 상호작용을 통한 해석을 수행하는데 필요한 기반환경을 제공할 것이다.

Analysis of Dynamic Characteristics for Concept Design of Independent-Wheel Type Ultra-High-Speed Train (독립차륜형 초고속 열차 개념 설계안의 동특성 해석)

  • In this paper, a concept design of a rail type ultra-high-speed train is proposed and its dynamic characteristics are analyzed. Instead of the existing solid axle, a new type bogie system and independently rotating wheels are applied in the proposed train. In order to analyze the dynamic characteristics, a multibody dynamic model of a vehicle is developed and the basic validity is verified by eigenvalue analysis. Also, it is shown that the critical speed is improved in comparison to that of existing high-speed train model HEMU-430X. Finally, through 7000R curved track driving analysis at a speed of 550 km/h, the lateral force of the wheels and the derailment quotient are estimated and the applicability of the new concept railway vehicle is confirmed.

Elongation Behavior of Polymeric Materials for Membrane Applications Using Molecular Dynamics (분자동역학을 이용한 분리막용 소재로 사용되는 고분자 소재의 신장거동 연구)

  • Recently, computer simulation research has been rapidly increasing due to the development of computer and software technology. In particular, various computational simulation results related to polymers, which were previously limited by problems of the number of atoms and model size, are being published. In this study, a study was conducted to analyze the mechanical properties, one of the important properties for using a polymer material as a membrane, using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. To this end, polyethylene (PE) and polystyrene (PS), which are commercial polymer materials with widely reported related properties, were selected as polymer models and the tensile properties of each polymer were compared through the difference in main chain length. Through the density, radius of gyration, and scattering analysis, it was found that the model produced in this study was in good agreement with the mechanical property trends obtained in the actual experiment. It is expected to enable the prediction of mechanical properties of various polymer materials for membrane fabrication.

  • 분자 위치제어 메모리 시스템에 대하여 고전적인 분자동역학을 이용하여 결합에너지 및 다양한 외부전압의 형태에 따른 셔틀 풀러렌 동작에 관하여 연구하였다. 단일 나노피포드 형(single-nanopeapod type)은 질화붕소 나노튜브(boron-nitride nano tube) 속에 세 개의 엔도풀러렌(endo-fullerene)과 양쪽 끝에 구리 전극이 채워져 있는 구조를 갖고 있는 구조를 갖고 있다. 결론적으로, 분자동역학 시뮬레이션 결과로부터 이 나노메모리 시스템은 비휘발성임을 알 수 있었다. 안정적인 bit 변화를 위해서는 단일 나노피포드 형은 0.1 eV/$\AA$ 외부전압이 필요로 함을 알 수 있었다.

On the Possible Role of Local Thermal Forcing on the Japan Sea Circulation (동해의 열적작용이 해수순환에 미칠 수 있는 영향에 관한 고찰)

  • It has been believed that the circulation in the Japan Sea involves separation of current from the Korean coast and formation of a cold cyclonic gyre in the north. To explain this, a simple quasi-geostrophic linear model is considered. The model is basically of an inflow-outflow system. The local forcings, wind and air-sea heat exchange together with damping (both mechanical and thermal), are imposed upon. The results show that only the buoyancy damping due to perturbations from local thermal adjustment can cause the separation and the gyre. Various types of circulation patterns are possible depending on the intensity of the thermal forcing.

  • Bucky shuttle memory systems were investigated by the classical molecular dynamics(MD) simulations. Energetics and operating response of the shuttle-memory-elements u?ere examined by MD simulations of the C/sub 60/ shuttle in the nanomemory systems under various external force fields. Single-nanopeapod type was consisting of three fullerenes encapsulated in (10, 10) boron-nitride nanotube and filled Cu electrode. Studied systems could be applied to nonvolatile memory. MD simulation results showed that the stable bit flops could be achieved from the external force fields of 0.1 eV/Å for single-nanopeapod type.

  • This paper proposes a flight control system for an organic flight array(OFA) which has a new configuration to consist of multi modularized ducted-fan unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The OFA is able to apply to various missions such as indoor reconnaissance, communication relay, and radar jamming by using capability of hover flight. The OFA has a distinguished advantage due to reconfigurable structure to assemble or separate with respect to its missions or operational conditions. A dynamic modelling of the OFA is derived based on equations of motion of the single ducted-fan modules. In order to apply nonlinear control method, an affine system of attitude dynamics is derived. Moreover, the control system is composed of a back-stepping controller for attitude control and a PID controller for position control. Then the performance of the proposed controller is verified via a numerical simulation under wind disturbance.

Simple Kinematic Model Generation by Learning Control Inputs and Velocity Outputs of a Ship (선박의 제어 입력과 속도 출력 학습에 의한 단순 운동학 모델 생성)

  • A simple kinematic model for the prediction of ship manoeuvres based on trial data is proposed in this study. The model consists of first order differential equations in surge, sway, and yaw directions which simulate the time series of each velocity component. Actually instead of sea trial data, dynamic model simulations are conducted with randomly varied control inputs such as propeller revolution rates and rudder angles. Based on learning of control inputs and velocity outputs of dynamic model simulations in sufficient time, kinematic model coefficients are optimized so that the kinematic model can be approximately reproduce the velocity outputs of dynamic model simulations with arbitrary control inputs. The resultant kinematic model is verified with new dynamic simulation sets.

  • There have been various forms of systems such as a digital speedometer or a black box etc. to meet the social requirement for reducing traffic accidents and safe driving. However that systems are based on after-accident vehicle data, there is limit to prevent the accident before. So in our previous research, by storing, analyzing the Vehicle-dynamic information coming from driver's behavior, we are developing the decision-device which could provide driver with Alerting-Information in real-time to enhance the driver's safety drive. but the performance valuation is not yet executed. Finally, this study developed positional recognition system by using the DGPS for pre-developed risky driving decision device. The result of test analyzed with the same that the aggregated vehicle dynamics data in DGPS and dangerous risky driving decision device. If the performance of risky driving decision device is verified by precisely positional recognition system, the risky driving management of vehicle would be effected.

Review on the Computer Simulation Tools for Polymeric Membrane Researches (고분자 분리막 연구를 위한 전산모사 도구 소개)

  • Computer simulation tools mainly used for polymer materials and polymeric membranes are divided into various fields depending on the size of the object to be simulated and the time to be simulated. The computer simulations introduced in this review are classified into three categories: Quantum mechanics (QM), molecular dynamics (MD), and mesoscale modeling, which are mainly used in computational material chemistry. The computer simulation used in polymer research has different research target for each kind of computational simulation. Quantum mechanics deals with microscopic phenomena such as molecules, atoms, and electrons to study small-sized phenomena, molecular dynamics calculates the movement of atoms and molecules calculated by Newton's equation of motion when a potential or force of is given, and mesoscale simulation is a study to determine macroscopically by reducing the computation time with large molecules by forming beads by grouping atoms together. In this review, various computer simulation programs mainly used for polymers and polymeric membranes divided into the three types classified above will be introduced according to each feature and field of use.
