Design of Morphing Airfoil Using Shape Memory Alloy Actuator (형상기억합금 작동기를 이용한 모핑 에어포일 설계)

  • Morphing wing which has a configuration optimized to flight speed and condition is faced to a lot of barriers to be overcome such as actuator technique, structural mechanization technique, flexible skin material, control law, and so on. As the first step for developing a morphing wing with rapid response, we designed and fabricated the morphing airfoil using a SMA(shape memory alloy) wire actuator and torsional bias springs. The design concept of the morphing airfoil was verified through operation test. The measured results show that the flap deflects smoothly and fast.

Study of Flow Characteristics of Gel Propellant through Various Injector Geometries (인젝터 형상 변화에 따른 Gel 추진제의 유동 특성 연구)

  • The present study investigates the flow characteristics of simulant gel propellant(carbopol 0.5%wt) in a variety of injectors. Rheological data for gel propellant has been measured and injector flow characteristics for plain-orifice, chamfered-orifice and venturi type injector have been numerically analyzed. The apparent viscosity of plain-orifice and chamfered-orifice have tendency to increase along axial direction, whereas for venturi type injector, low viscosity has been achieved in the injector flow. This phenomenon was clearly pronounced as Reynolds number is increased.

  • 궤도차량 운동의 실시간 시뮬레이션을 위해서 실시간 시간제약 조건을 만족하기 위한 모델링을 시도하였다. 단위 블록 열차로 연결된 전체 차체를 질점으로 가정하여 모델을 단순화함으로써 차량 설계 시 사용되는 궤도 차량 모델보다 실시간성을 향상시키고자 하였다. 당 모델에서 궤도차량의 운동은 트랙의 형상에 구속되는데, 차량의 운동 궤적은 궤도의 형상에 의해 결정된다. 단, 매 단위 시간마다에서 궤도 차량의 위치는 뉴턴의 제2법칙으로 결정된다. 본 모델링은 몇 개의 단위 트랙을 설정하여 이들의 조합으로 전체트랙을 설계할 수 있도록 사용자가 임의로 설계한 전체트랙에서 바로 실시간으로 시뮬레이션할 수 있는 특징을 갖는다. 당 궤도차량 운동 모델은 전동차, 철도, 롤러코스터의 궤도 설계 등에 사용될 수 있으며, 주 용도는 롤러코스터 게임 시뮬레이터에서 동 특성을 비교적 엄밀하게 시뮬레이션 하는데 있다.

  • 일반적으로 유역의 지형학적 특성을 나타내는 인자들은 유역면적, 유로연장, 유로경사 등 여러가지가 있다. Horton (1945)은 수계의 발달 형태에 기초한 하천의 차수를 이용하여 분기비, 길이비, 면적비, 하천 밀도 등 지형학적인 매개변수로 제시하였다. 유역 지형학적 매개변수는 Horton이 제시한 유역내 하도망의 지형학적인 구성에 대한 특성을 반영하는 것으로 유출에 지배적인 영향을 미친다. 한강 유역 19개 하천의 27개 지점을 대상으로 유출 특성과 지형학적 특성의 상관 분석을 위하여 유역과 하천의 지형학적 특성을 Arc-Map을 이용하여 구하였다. 하천차수법칙에 의한 지형학적인 매개변수로 분기비, 길이비, 함몰도, 면적비를 산정하였고, 유역의 지형학적 인자는 유역면적, 유로연장, 유로경사, 형상계수, 단일형상계수, 세장률, 수계밀도, 수계빈도를 산정하였다. 수계의 연간 유출률은 실측 유출량과 강수량 자료를 이용하여 산정하였다. 각각의 지형학적 특성인자에 대한 상관 매트릭스를 분석하고 그 상관특성을 분석하였다. 특히 지형학적 매개변수와 지형학적 요소와 연간 유출률과의 상관관계식을 제시하였다.

A Study of Visual Perception of the Decorations in Terms of the Principles of Forms and Backgrounds - Regarding Womens' Collections Since 2006 - (형상과 배경의 법칙에 근거한 장식의 시각적 인식에 관한 연구 - 2006년 이후 여성복 컬렉션을 중심으로 -)

  • The presented study was designed to investigate the attribution of the visual perception of decorating techniques that have often been witnessed in the realm of modern fashion since 2006. The form is more impressive, more suitable to convey a message and, most of all, more memorable. In this study, attempts were made to categorize and create an order of prioritization among components such as surrounding, pattern (closure), space arrangement, area, overlapping, and community (proximity) surrounding that comprise the place and arrangement of decorating techniques in modern fashion. The results were as follow: First, centered decorating technique surrounded by other techniques is prioritized. Second, the more standardized the clothing with patterns, the more it was noticed. Third, the space arrangement also had an impact on prioritization in the following order: center of the sight, horizon, vertical, and diagonal in relation to the central axis. Fourth, concentrated area attracted more attention. Fifth, when overlapped, what is placed in the front became the center of recognition. Sixth, the technique that formed a community was more recognized. Therefore, the study suggests that as the decorating technique is gaining more significance, these findings would help to find the most effective method to utilize an acute visual stimulus to apply for a technique and maximize its aesthetic effects.

Numerical Studies on Bearing Capacity Factor Nγ and Shape Factor of Strip and Circular Footings on Sand According to Dilatancy Angle (모래지반에서 팽창각에 따른 연속기초와 원형기초의 지지력계수 Nγ와 형상계수에 대한 수치해석 연구)

  • Bearing capacity factor $N_{\gamma}$ and shape factor were studied for rigid strip and circular footings with a rough base on sand by numerical modelling considering the effect of dilation angle. The numerical model was developed with an explicit finite difference code. Loading procedures and interpretation methods were devised in order to shorten the running time while eliminating the exaggeration of the reaction caused by the explicit scheme. Using the Mohr-Coulomb plasticity model with associated (${\psi}={\phi}$) and nonassociated (${\psi}$ < ${\phi}$) flow-rules, the bearing capacity factor $N_{\gamma}$ was evaluated for various combinations of internal friction angles and dilation angles. Bearing capacity factor decreased as the dilation angle was reduced from the associated condition. An equation applicable to typical sands was proposed to evaluate the relative bearing capacity for the nonassociated condition compared to the associated condition on which most bearing capacity factor equations are based. The shape factor for the circular footing varied substantially when the plane-strain effect was taken into account for the strip footing. The numerical results of this study showed closer trends with the previous experimental results when the internal friction angle was increased for the strip footing. Discussions are made on the reason that previous equations for the shape factor give different results and recommendations are made for the appropriate design shape factor.

Porous modeling for the prediction of pressure drop through a perforated strainer (타공형 스트레이너의 압력강하 예측을 위한 다공성모델링)

  • In the present paper, we apply a porous modelling technique to accurately predict the pressure drop through the strainer by replacing all or some of the filter composed of perforated plates with porous media and there imposing the streamwise and transverse loss coefficients required according to the Forchheimer law and then confirm its effectiveness. At first, the streamwise coefficient is obtained by performing a simple simulation on the pipe flow mimicking the hole flow. Subsequently, the transverse coefficient is obtained by setting a unit pattern to have common flow loss characteristics with the repeated shape patterns in the filter, then performing numerical simulations on the prototype and porous model of the unit shape pattern, and finally comparing their results of pressure drop. To validate the applied modeling technique, we perform the numerical simulation with the two specified loss coefficients on a whole shape of strainer and compare the modeling results with those of the corresponding prototype numerical simulation. Comparison indicates that the modeling technique can predict the pressure drop and flow characteristics comparatively accurately and save the number of nodes closely related to the computational cost (CPU and memory) by about 3~4 times compared with the prototype simulation.

Applicability of Similitude Laws for 1-g Shaking Table Tests (1-g 진동대 모형시험을 위한 상사법칙의 적용성 평가)

  • Shaking table model tests were performed to reproduce the dynamic behavior of a gravity quay wall and a pile-supported wharf which were damaged during the Kobe earthquake in 1995. The results of the model tests were compared with field measurements and with the results of previous model tests. The displacements of the model quay wall were only one third of that of the prototype, whereas the deformation state of the model was similar to that of the prototype. The displacements of the model pile-supported wharf were about two thirds of that of the prototype and the locations of the maximum moments at the model pile were similar to the buckling locations of the prototype piles.

Refraction angle of the transverse wave near the longitudinal critical angle in angle beam transducer (종파 임계각 근처에서 사각 탐촉자의 횡파굴절각)

  • 복잡한 형상을 지닌 터빈 블래이드의 결함을 검사하기 위해 현재 $35^\circ,\; 38^\circ,\; 40^\circ$의 횡파 굴절각을 지닌 탐촉자를 사용하고 있다. 이와 같은 굴절각은 초음파 빔의 경로를 Snell의 법칙에 의해 설정하고 있다. 그러나 터빈 블래이드 검사용 초음파 탐촉자를 제작하는 과정에서 $35^\circ$의 횡파 굴절각을 갖는 경사각 탐촉자는 제작이 어려움을 알았다. 이러한 원인은 철강재료의 종파임계각이 $33.2^\circ$의 횡과굴절각에 대응되며, 종파임계각 근처에서는 전반사 현상 때문에 에너지 투과율이 매우 작아 실제 시험대상체에 입사되는 에너지가 거의 없으며 또한 횡파굴절각이 약 $37.5^\circ$ 일때에 휭파의 에너지 투과율이 최대가 되어 wedge를 $37.5^\circ$ 이하의 횡파굴절각을 갖도록 설계하더라도 측정을 하면 $37.5^\circ$ 근처의 횡파굴 절각을 갖게된다. 즉, 종파임계각 근처에서는 전반사 현상에 의해 경계면에서의 에너지 투과가 매우 작아 횡파 굴절각은 Snell의 법칙이 아닌 초음파 에너지의 투과 정도를 나타내는 echo transmittance의 크기에 의해 결정된다.

Development of the Unmanned Automatic Test System for a Portable Detector using TRIZ TESE

  • This paper propose an development of the unmanned automatic test system for a portable detector using TRIZ Methodology. A new development scheme among of the unmanned automatic test system configurations was obtained after application of the TESE(Trends of Engineering System Evolution) one of the TRIZ methods. Using Pugh matrix drives some improving ideas. The key idea of this unmanned automatic test system scheme is to minimize whole test procedure time of each portable detector and to maximize the amount of portable detectors at once. Between the before and the after configurations of the 3D mechanical model find out improvements. This paper shows that the proposed development scheme improves the test performance efficiency compared to previous scheme.
