The purpose of this study was to investigate characteristics of interaction in mentoring conversations and to examine how the interaction features change as mentor teachers have more mentoring experiences. Participants of this study were three mentor who have over 17 years' teaching experience and six beginning science teachers. For this study, one-to-one mentoring dialogue recordings and transcripts were collected and the dialogues were analyzed by utilizing an analytical framework of interaction. the result of analyzing characteristics of mentors' interaction shows that mentors used simple questions and support the most when they started mentoring conversation. the change of characteristics of mentor's interactions indicates three mentors tended to use more thought-provoking questions in the $2^{nd}$ year mentoring than in the $1^{st}$ year and as a result of it mentee's reflection and reflective practices were increased. Through mentors' interview, the mentors could have the opportunity to reflect their own mentoring and this means mentors' self reflection was provoked by means of the mentoring program.

The purpose of this study is to explore how the flow of discourse move and their reasoning process in dialogic argumentation during group modeling on excretion. Five groups of three to four students in the second grade of a middle school participated in the modeling practice of a Gifted Center. Analysis was conducted on argumentation during the modeling activity in which students should explain how the waste product (ammonia) leaves the body. It was found that there was a sequential argumentative process-tentative consensus, solving the uncertainty, and consensus. There were several discourse moves - 'claim' and 'counterclaim' in the stage of tentative consensus, 'query' and 'clarification of meaning' in the stage of solving the uncertainty, and 'change of claim' in the stage of consensus. Students participated in the dialogic argumentation by constructing argument collaboratively for reaching a consensus. Critical questioning in the stage of solving the uncertainty and reasoning in the stage of consensus were the impact factors of dialogic argumentation. By answering the critical questions, students changed their claims or suggested new claims by defending or rebutting previous claims. Students justified group claims with diverse argumentation scheme and scientific reasoning to reach a group consensus. These findings have implication for science educators who want to adopt dialogic argumentation in science classes.

This study investigated several cases of interactive learning mediated by exhibits in a natural history hall during visits by middle school students. Five visiting cases were selected, in which visitors engaged actively in the interactions between them. Each visiting case was analyzed in terms of visiting discourse register and the modes of interaction in order to understand both visitors' meaning-making processes through the discourse flow and the characteristics of visiting discourse according to the features of exhibits. Results were as follows. The information provided in the exhibits was used as THEMEs in visitors' discourse and the visitors presented their information on the THEMEs as RHEMEs. The visitors made their own meaning for the exhibits by exchanging their information with each other. Interrogative sentences on the exhibit panels allowed visitors to make arguments. Similar exhibits displayed together helped visitors to compare those exhibits. These two features of the exhibits facilitated visitors' meaning-making processes in the natural history hall. The modes of interaction between visitors mediated by the exhibits showed that the information itself from the exhibits as well as visitors' opinion on the exhibits were frequently used as the elements for in-depth cognitive social interactions that allowed the visitors to construct meaning. Based on these results, we discussed that understanding in detail how visitors choose information from exhibits and construct visiting discourse is very important to improve visitors' collaborative science learning at a natural history hall.

One of the key success factors for Computer Supported Collaborative Learning(CSCL) environments relies on collaborative reflection. Reflection refers to the active, intellectual thinking for monitoring one's own learning process and continuous internal activities of exploring oneself for new learning experiences. Also, reflective activities are closely related not only with the individual aspect of internal exploration but also with the social aspect of learner-learner interaction. This paper suggests four essential macro-level design strategies such as (1)facilitating collaborative awareness, (2)making thinking visualization, (3)negotiation-mediated knowledge construction, (4)providing metacognitive awareness cues or Questions for scaffolding collaborative reflection in the CSCL environments and made some implications for key functional features for the design and development of system components for CSCL.
The purpose of this study is to analyze components of conflicts and investigate causes of them between mentor teachers and mentee teachers, who participated in the collaborative mentoring program to improve beginning science teachers teaching practice. The most often occurring component of conflict for surveyed teams was class strategy on knowledge of teaching methods. Then, conflicts in understanding student characteristics as a component of understanding students and knowledge transfer of concepts in science as a component of teaching contents followed as main causes. Changes in conflicts showed that less frequency of conflict occurred with ongoing mentoring. Conflicts from class strategy decreased the most, which had been the most often occurring cause. This decrease was explained as mentees were changed gradually into the teacher's role recognition through continuous mentoring. This study suggests that education for mentor and mentee teachers be provided with consideration of causes of conflicts and reasons for those causes, which eventually lead sustainable and efficient mentoring program management.
The Social Conflict Index in Korea is considerably high. In the situation where both parties' interests conflict each other, Korean society has shown immature democracy, which couldn't peacefully resolve the conflict because of the lack of tolerance against the counterparty's position. In terms of upbringing educated citizens, who could democratically communicate with others and approach problems, communication skill training is very important, reducing social costs by extreme conflict. Thus, this paper studied the necessity of communication skills training and its sociopolitical implication through case studies about "Communication and Negotiation" class, which is proceeded under university liberal education. Under current university curriculums, increased liberal education programs, related with speaking, focus on cultivating logical and critical thinking in the main. Based on these thinking skills, "Communication and Negotiation" has important implication in terms of cultivating mindset which resolves conflicts and considers other's position by collaborative and emotional perspectives. In terms of cultivating practical communication skills, this "Communication and Negotiation" class requires the change of teaching skills with various training programs, under students' active participation and feedback in the class exercise for resolving problems. Ultimately, through "Communication and Negotiation" class, and as members of society, students could learn matured citizenship and sense of responsibility by respecting others' position and reasonably resolving conflicts.
