  • In this paper, we propose a new cooperative signaling structure based on CDMA to overcome both 2/3 spectrum efficiency and low diversity gain of conventional cooperative signaling through continuous overlapping of signal that each user wants to transmit. Proposed signal structure can achieve the spectrum efficiency nearly "1" by receiving additional data for next time as well as maximum diversity gain to detect data continuously at both base station and each user. The orthogonality of CDMA's spreading codes can improve performance of optimal detector by reducing inter-user channel environment and distinguishing each user. We perform the computer simulation to verify the proposed system through comparing cooperative mode and non-cooperative mode under Rayleigh fading channel plus AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise).

  • Cooperative ARQ scheme is effective for better QoS guarantee for the next generation mobile communication systems where multimedia data transmission highly increases. In this paper, we propose a cooperative ARQ strategy in ad hoc cognitive relays for mobile multimedia communication for supporting instantaneous cooperation in MANET environment. In the proposed strategy, to support real time, delay-sensitive services, whenever a frame is transmitted from the source, each relay actively senses the SINR of the signal transmitted from the source, and determine whether to propose retransmission or not before the destination transmits feedback signal. To minimize the false retransmission decision or needless retransmission, we propose an adaptive sensing threshold optimization algorithm to maintain suboptimal sensing thresholds for each relay. By computer simulation, it is shown that the proposed cooperative ARQ retransmission scheme outperforms the conventional schemes with respect to frame transmission delay and frame loss probability in real time multimedia data transmission system.

  • Context-awareness is an important element that can provide service of good quality according to users' surrounding environment and status in ubiquitous computing environment. Information gathering tools for context-awareness use small size mobile devices which have easy movement and a mobile agent in mobile device. Now, Mobile agents are consuming much times and expense to collect and recognize each users' context information. Therefore, needs research about structure for users' context information awareness in early time to reduce mobile agent's load. This paper proposes a P2P mobile agent structure that mikes filtering techniques and a P2P agent in mobile agent. The proposed structure analyzes each user's context information in same area, and groups users who have similar preference degree. Grouped users share information using a P2P mobile agent. Also this structure observes and learns to continue on users' action and service, and measures new interrelation.

  • The data forwarding transmission is an important function of the relay in cooperative communication in wireless communication systems. However, additional relay cause the waste of power consumption and cost. Therefore, in this paper, we consider how to use the user mobile devices in stead of relays to deal with this problem. In this paper, we proposed the protocol that divide each relay into two states of idle and non-idle. The receiver has two functions of base station and user mobile device. In this case, it is possible that no additional cost, and improve the spectral efficiency and network capacity. We verified BER performance for the proposed protocol over Rayleigh fading through Monte-Carlo simulation.

  • It has been studied to reflect the number of co-rated items for solving data sparsity problem in collaborative filtering systems. A well-known method of Jaccard index allowed performance improvement, when combined with previous similarity measures. However, the degree of performance improvement when combined with existing similarity measures in various data environments are seldom analyzed, which is the objective of this study. Jaccard index as a sole similarity measure yielded much higher prediction quality than traditional measures and very high recommendation quality in a sparse dataset. In general, previous similarity measures combined with Jaccard index improved performance regardless of dataset characteristics. Especially, cosine similarity achieved the highest improvement in sparse datasets, while similarity of Mean Squared Difference degraded prediction quality in denser sets. Therefore, one needs to consider characteristics of data environment and similarity measures before combining Jaccard index for similarity use.

  • In this paper, collision avoidance beamforming(CA-BF) technology is proposed to mitigate inter-cell interference in cooperative wireless communications system with limited feedback. Each acess terminal(AT) selects both the best BF weight vector for a serving base transceiver station(BTS) and the most interfering BF weight vectors of interfering BTSs within a cluster, and sends it back to a cluster scheduler. At the cluster scheduler, a set of transmit BF weights of BTSs and the corresponding scheduled ATs are jointly determined to avoid collision among beams formed by BTSs within a cluster, which enhances system throughput by mitigating inter-cell interference. It is shown that the proposed CA-BF outperforms existing non-coordinated BF schemes in terms of the average system throughput.

  • Security between mobile nodes and efficient communication is one of the most important parts of the MANET. In particular, the wireless network is significantly higher for the attack threats because of collaborative structure for open communication media and communication. However, application of existing security mechanisms and intrusion detection system is not easy due to the characteristics of MANET. It is because collection and integration of adult data by the dynamic topology due to the mobility of nodes and many network sensors is difficult. In this study, we propose cooperative security system technique that can improve the reliability based on authentication assessing confidence about the whole nodes which joins to network and detect effectively this when intrusion occurs. Cluster head which manages the cluster performs CA role for the certificate issue and the gateway node performs role of intrusion detection system. Intrusion detection is performed by cooperating with neighboring nodes when attack is not detected in one intrusion detection node. The performance of the proposed method was confirmed through experiments comparing with the SRP technique.

  • With the development of e-commerce and the proliferation of easily accessible information, information filtering has become a popular technique to prune large information spaces so that users are directed toward those items that best meet their needs and preferences. While many collaborative filtering systems have succeeded in capturing the similarities among users or items based on ratings to provide good recommendations, there are still some challenges for them to be more efficient, especially the user bias problem, non-transitive association problem and cold start problem. Those three problems impede us to capture more accurate similarities among users or items. In this paper, we provide probabilistic model approaches for UCHM and ICHM which are suggested to solve the addressed problems in hopes of achieving better performance. In this probabilistic model, objects (users or items) are classified into groups and predictions are made for users considering the Gaussian distribution of user ratings. Experiments on a real-word data set illustrate that our proposed approach is comparable with others.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel low-complexity Alamouti coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme for asynchronous cooperative communications. Exploiting the combination of OFDM symbols at the source node and simple operations including sign change and complex product at the relay node, the proposed scheme can achieve cooperative diversity gain without use of time-reversion and shifting operations that the conventional scheme proposed by Li and Xia needs. In addition, by using the cyclic prefix (CP) removal and insertion operations at the relay node, the proposed scheme does not suffer from a considerable degradation of bit-error-rate (BER) performance even though perfect timing synchronization is not achieved at the relay node. From the simulation results, it is demonstrated that the BER performance of the proposed scheme is much superior to that of the conventional scheme in the presence of timing synchronization error at the relay node. It is also shown that the proposed scheme obtains two times higher diversity gain compared with the conventional scheme at the cost of half reduction in transmission efficiency.
