Accurate blood typing tests are essential for safe blood transfusion. Recently many automated test equipments have been introduced to reduce errors and increase the efficiency of the test. However, those equipments being high in price, it is difficult to introduce automated test equipment for every hospital. In this study, we developed a reader for blood typing using column agglutination test. In the process, the results, read out by the image processing, are stored and reaffirmed. To evaluate the reader, 148 samples for ABO and RhD blood typing tests and 154 samples for unexpected antibody test were used. The positive and negative intensity of the reading and the reading of the reaction were 100% in agreement with the result of traditional manual method. If additional verification is completed, this reader can be efficiently and economically used in small-and medium-sized hospitals.

This study is focused on the effects of one's blood type on emotional character and anti-stress by comparing each individual's brain wave. Observed records are from those kids who volunteered for KRIJUS(Korea Research Institute of Jungshin Science)'s brain wave measurement from September 2006 to December 2009. The whole 4636 adult(20-59 age) group consists of 3221 female and 1415 male. Blood types are as follows; A>B>O>AB dominately ordered. The result shown no relations between the blood types of adult and their emotional character. But meaningful difference had been revealed between the blood type and stress resistancy; type O rated higher scores in awarness and stress resistancy then other types, which shows that type O has more ability to redudce its stress. This study revealed meaningful relation between blood types and emotional character among several categoties, while suggesting follow-up researches figuring out more detailed explanations for its effect and genetic role.

This study is focused on the effects of one's blood type on emotional character of children, by comparing each individual's brain wave. Observed records are from those kids who volunteered for KRIJUS(Korea Research Institute of Jungshin Science)'s brain wave measurement from September 2005 to December 2007. The whole 3018 kids(4-7) group consists of 1322 female and 1696 male. Blood types are A>B>O>AB dominately ordered. The relations between depressive attitude and blood type of an infant couldn't be found among female. However, male type B had the most numbers of activeness character while type O shown largest rate of depressed condition. Also, the result amongst infant had shown male type B had the most active-positive rate while type AB took large for depressed-negative. The result had shown no relative connection for activity inclination. Third, among the kids type O had highest awareness rate while type A had lowest. This study revealed meaningful relation between blood types and emotional character among several categories, while suggesting follow-up researches figuring out more detailed explanations for its effect and genetic role.
Mucin glycoproteins are the primary carriers of the oligosaccharide moieties that constitute the blood group substances in human saliva. The aim of this study was to determine whether or not the conversion of either the A or B blood group antigens to the H antigen can occur during the degradation process of stored saliva samples. Forty subjects (20 subjects in each A and B blood group) identified as secretors were enrolled in this study. Fresh whole saliva samples and their clarified supernatants were stored at room temperature for 1 week. The conversion of the blood group antigens was detected by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotting. Among the subjects showing the conversion in whole saliva, glandular saliva samples were obtained from 8 subjects (4 subjects in each A and B blood group). Submandibular-sublingual saliva (SMSL) and a mixture of SMSL and parotid saliva (PS) were stored at room temperature for 1 week. The conversion of the blood group antigens was detected by the same method. The obtained results were as follows: 1. In the clarified samples of whole saliva, the A antigen was detected as being either intact (5%) or degraded molecules (95%) after the 1 week period. Conversion of the A antigen to the H antigen was detected in 5 subjects (25%). In the unclarified samples, the A antigen was either detected as degraded molecules (90%) or was not detected (10%). Conversion of the antigen had occurred in 4 subjects (20%). 2. In the clarified samples of whole saliva, the B antigen was detected as intact (20%) or as degraded molecules (65%) or was not detected (15%) after the 1 week period. Conversion of the B antigen to the H antigen was detected in 7 subjects (35%). In the unclarified samples, the B antigen was detected as intact (5%) or as degraded molecules (65%), or was not detected (30%). Conversion of the antigen was observed in 2 subjects (10%). 3. In the glandular saliva samples, only one of the four subjects displayed an antigenic conversion from the A to H antigen or from the B to H antigen. The conversion had occurred in both the SMSL samples and the SMSL and PS mixture. No degradation of the antigens was detected in the other three samples of the A or B blood groups, nor was there any conversion. The results demonstrated that conversion of the blood group antigens could occur in saliva, and suggested that the enzymes responsible for the conversion are present in saliva. Further studies on the origin and activity of the specific glycosidases in saliva as well as quantitative measurements of the antigenic conversion will be needed.
This study is focused on the effects of one's blood type on determining awarness and emotional character of Elementary students, by comparing each individual's brain wave. Observed records are from those students who volunteered for KRIJUS(Korea Research Institute of Jungshin Science)'s brain wave measurement from September 2005 to December 2007. The whole 4010 elementary student group consists of 1562 female and 2448 male. Blood types are as follows; 873male(36%) 563female(37%) for type A, 641male(26%) 424female(27%) for type B, 622male(25%) 406female(26%) for type 0, and 312male(13%) 159female(10%) for type AB, A>B>O>AB dominately ordered. The research had shown no obvious relation between the blood types and their awarness or emotional status of elementary students. Thus, it would not be such a wise decision to tell one's character depending on his/her blood type. This result suggested that follow-up researches should be figuring out more detailed explanations for gifted education.
The blood samples collected from 863 school boys living in Seoul, Kwangju, Pusan and Cheju were tested for studies on the distributions and frequencies of ABO, MNSs, Rh, Diego, Duffy, Kell, Kidd and P blood groups. The $I^B$ gene frequencies appeared to be a cline, and this is decreased gradually from north to south except the Cheju population, but on the other hand those of $I^A$ gene increased oppositely. In Koreans A type of ABO group increased during past fifty years while B type decreased. $Ig^M$ gene frequencies also decreased from north to south district in Korea except Cheju. And the frequency of $Ig^M$ in Koreans was 0.518 which is between those of the north Chinese and the Japanese. In general Rh negative was 0.26 percent, and CCDee phenotype was of the highest frequency among all phenotypes, showing 42.41 percent, CcDEe, about 34% and ccdee, 0.087%. The frequencies of most Rh phenotypes in Koreans were close to those of the Japanese rather than to those of the Chinese and the Thais. Di(a+) type was 6.633 percent, and Fy(a+) and Fy(b+) type were 99.267 percent and 13.832 percent respectively. K+ type was observed only one case in Seoul. The frequencies of Jk(a+) and P+ type were the most varied depending on the populations studied.

The purpose of this study was to investigate college students' preferences of Web-based OPAC retrieval techniques and their ABO blood types as an empirical survey. Data was collected through a self-designed questionnaire with a total of 101 undergraduate students from the College of Social Sciences responding. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, and One-way ANOVA. The results show that 'title' was most preferred among the access points, 'AND' was the most preferred Boolean operator, 'publication year' and 'subject' were the most favored techniques in limiting the scope of retrieval, and 'record number limit per page' was the most frequently used for displaying retrieval results. The results also show that there were little(3 out of 22, i.e. 13.6%) statistically significant differences between the college students' preferences of Web-based OPAC techniques and their blood type.
