Recurrent spontaneous hemarthrosis is a relatively rare complication of total knee arthroplasty. This paper reports a case of a patient treated with arterial embolization for recurrent spontaneous hemarthrosis even after undergoing arthroscopic surgery. The patient had several relapses after total knee arthroplasty.

Hemarthrosis occurring after arthroscopic surgery for lesions of the shoulder joint is a very rare complication that can develop due to an injury to the blood vessels when an anterior portal is formed. This is a complication that rarely develops in patients who are taking antithrombotic drugs or who do not have associated diseases, such as thrombocytopenia. We report a case of hemarthrosis that occurred after performing arthroscopic surgery to repair a rotator cuff tear in a patient with a stenosis in an arteriovenous fistula for hemodialysis in the ipsilateral upper arm.

Synovial hemangioma of the knee joint has been reported as a rare cause of pain, limitation of motion and hemarthrosis, often seen as an internal derangement of the knee. A 39-year-old woman presented with spontaneous hemarthrosis of the left knee joint and physical exam revealed a small painful mass adjacent to the medial side of the patella. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an intra-articular tumor. Arthroscopic excision was performed and the histology was characteristic of hemangioma. Through this case, we discuss the diagnosis and treatment options for the synovial hemangioma of the knee.

The authors report one case of isolated avulsion fracture of the tibial attachment of the posterior cruciate ligament. A 13 years old boy was admitted for right knee pain and swelling after the soccer injury on his knee. Hemarthrosis and posterior instability were present. Simple roentgenographic examination showed an isolated avulsion fracture of the tibial attachment of the posterior cruciate ligament. Open approach through the popliteal fossa was used and bony fragment was fixed into its bed using pull-out sutures. Postoperatively, a long leg cast was applied for 4 weeks. The patient was followed for 6 months. He returned to his previous activity levels. There was no residual laxity. Isolated avulsion of the posterior cruciate ligament from the tibia before the epiphyseal fusion is very rare in children. We reported one case of our experience and its result.

Purpose: To investigate the outcome of arthroscopic treatment for the complications of knee arthroplasty and to evaluate the effectiveness of arthroscopy. Materials and Methods: We analyzed 25 patients who underwent arthroscopy to treat complications of knee arthroplasty between May 1992 and June 2008. Nineteen cases out of 25 had total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and the remaining 6 cases had unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA). Before arthroscopy, physical examinations and radiographic evaluations were carried out to find out the causes of complications. Joint fluid aspiration and hematologic evaluation were added when infection was suspected. Results: Among the diagnosis at the time of arthroscopy, there were 11 cases of infection, 6 cases of stiffness due to adhesion and fibrosis, and 2 cases of soft tissue impingement in the cases of TKA. Among the cases of UKA, one for each case of meniscal tear, subluxation of mobile insert, hemarthrosis, cement loose body, soft tissue impingement, and stiff knee was found. Nine out of 11 patients who had infection were treated successfully with arthroscopy but the remaining 2 cases underwent revision arthroplasty. Seven patients with arthrofibrosis had improved range of motion from $65^{\circ}$ preoperatively to $105^{\circ}$ postoperatively. The others also showed successful results after arthroscopy. Conclusion: Arthroscopy to treat complications after knee arthroplasty was a safe and effective method when appropriate selection of patients was made.
