  • For the deep underground excavation site with the geological complexity of soft seam and hard rock, the numerical analysis and in-situ measurement on the behaviors of roadway and surrounding rock according to stepwise excavation of the steep soft seam are carried out. The strata behavior is modeled using elasto-plastic FEM considering the empirical failure criteria of Hoek & Brown and the strain-softening model. Hydraulic pressure capsule, MPBX and tape extensometer are installed around the roadway for the in-situ measurement of rock stress and deformation. Despite the complexity of geology and excavation procedure, the elasto-plastic analysis considering the empirical failure criteria of Hoek & Brown and the strain-softening model shows good agreement with the in-situ measurement. Comparison of numerical modeling with in-situ measurement enables to predict the behaviors of the roadway and to obtain design parameters for the excavation and support at depth.

  • Predicting and measuring tunnel convergence is very crucial for estimating tunnel stability and economical construction of NATM tunnels. The method to estimate the tunnel convergence that occurs before and after construction is proposed based on literature reviews. The total displacement occurring related to tunnel construction is determined to be about 2.5 times that of measured displacements. The results of displacement measurements at two tunnels constructed with similar rock types are examined for the investigation of factors affecting the tunnel convergence. The average convergence of Gyungju A Tunnel is about 6.7 times bigger than that of Daejeon B Tunnel. The possible causes of the large convergence in Gyungju A Tunnel are suggested. In order to predict the convergence of tunnels, careful investigation of the geological structures in the ground surface and the influence of external conditions as well as careful face mapping of the tunnel face should be conducted.

  • This paper describes the result of study on measurement of displacement of structure by means of non-contacting method, close-range digital photogrammetry using digital camera. To apply close-range digital photogrammetry to displacement measurement of structure, correction of lens distortion that interferes geometrical analysis has been carried out and then measuring displacement was performed on load regulated-rahmen. For enhanced applicability of displacement measurement, MIDAS which is a structural analysis program was used for modeling and the result was taken from comparative analysis. As a result of the study, it is showed that close-range digital photogrammetry could supplement several weaknesses of LVDT and cable displacement meter and, especially, economy in the perspective of measuring time could be realized. Close-range digital photogrammetry using digital camera can be applied to the area where requires visual analysis such as 3D modeling of structure, profile replication of measurement of structure as well as measurement of displacement of structure.

  • In this study, gathered measuring data at fields constructed by IPS(Innovative Prestressed Support) system controls the ground displacement and improves the constructability of earth work and structure work greatly, and compared with horizontal displacement calculated by Elasto-plastic analysis program(EXCAV/W). As the result, displacement of calculated by pre-loading data is reduced 13.2% average of general method, and measuring displacement is also reduced 26.7% average of general method. Therefore that IPS system is more safe than conventional strut method in contrast to displacement of underground wall. In addition, horizontal displacement is reduced through the pre-loading effect used by IPS system.

  • Although it is important to reflect the accurate information of the ground condition in the tunnel design, the analysis and design are conducted by limited information because it is very difficult to consider various geographies and geotechnical conditions. When the tunnel is under construction, examination of accurate safety and prediction of behavior are overcome the limits of predicting behavior by Artificial Neural Network in this study. First, construct the suitable structure after the data of field was made sure by the multi-layer back propagation, then apply with algorithm. Employ the result of measured data from database, and consider the influence factor of tunnel, like supporting pattern, RMR, Q, the types of rock, excavation length, excavation shape, excavation over, to carry out the reliable analysis through field applicability of Artificial Neural Network. After studying, using the ANN model to predict the shearing displacement, convergence displacement, underground displacement, Rock bolt output follow the excavation over of tunnel construction field, then determine the field applicability with ANN through field measured value and comparison analysis when tunnel is being constructed.

  • In this study, the value of numerical analysis was compared to the measured value of horizontal displacement during construction. And also, the value was reviewed by comparing with numbers calculated by SUNEX program and EXCAV program. When comparing to suggested values of the maximum horizontal displacement in clayey layer, the displacement caused by the IPS system is larger than one by the Strut girder type system. When comparing the result of SUNEX program to that of EXCAV program, the SUNEX program interprets larger value. It could be concluded the result of SUNEX program is closer to the suggested value, 0.5%H, in clayey layer. The result also shows that the internal friction angle(${\Phi}$) is the key factor of developing horizontal displacement rather than type of supporting systems or materials. That means small horizontal displacement occurs in sandy layer having large value of the internal friction angle, whereas vice versa in clayey layer having small value of the internal friction angle. Therefore, the result of EXCAV program is larger in sandy layer and vice versa in clayey layer. When comparing the measured result during construction to the value of 0.5%H, the measured result is 1.4 times greater than the value of 0.5%H. In contrast, the result of SUNEX program is only 78.1% of the value of 0.5%H and the one of EXCAV program is just 18.1% of that. This result shows the calculated value by SUNEX or EXCAV program is smaller than the observed value by measuring during construction. In result, more careful attention is needed to determine the behavior of the ground. To better analyze the behavior of the ground, more precise finite element method is required.

  • Arching effect occurs around the unsupported excavation surface near to tunnel face when a tunnel is excavated in a stable rock mass. If a weak fracture zone exists in front of tunnel face, a displacement occurs between tunnel face and weak fracture zone due to stress concentration. If three-dimensional absolute coordinates (longitudinal, transverse, vertical direction) is measured at tunnel face by geodetic method, the ground change in front of the tunnel face can be predicted by analysing three-dimensional absolute displacement. The purpose of this study is to verify the analysis method of three-dimensional absolute displacement by comparing the trend of displacement ratio at crown and sidewall of tunnel and the influence line/trend line of crown settlement compared with TSP results in the same section.

  • In this study, we applieorithmd the inverse analysis alg to the prediction of displacement shape in the example construction and verified the feasibility of suggested algorithm. For this purpose, as information processing knowledge in the field of IT is required and the need for convergence with the major is emerged, it is intended to try to apply the algorithm to the construction sector. Prediction of displacement shape is very important since it is related to the earth pressure of slurry wall and effecting on the safety of slurry wall after anchor removal. 3 levels of inverse analysis were applied to the slurry walls in 3 sites and compared the measured displacement shape with predicted displacement shape of the last excavation construction. As the predicted displacement shape was matched well with the measured one, the applied analysis algorithm in this study can be applied to the excavation construction.

  • In order to assess the on-site applicability of 3D absolute displacement monitoring of tunnel using digital photogrammetry, the displacement of the optical target placed at the measurement section was investigated, as planned in the OO tunnel construction site. The targets on 3 measurement lines only were considered for each point of measurement for the reconstruction of 3D cubic model for the digital vision monitoring. For each 3D model, 3 or more images have to be obtained at each point. On the last 2 measurement lines, 6 targets (crown, left and right walls) were continuously overlapped to construct 3D models so that 6 or more apices can be shared by 2 3D models. In order to compare the measurement methods of 3D absolute displacements in tunnel excavation, i. e, total station and digital image measurement, both the digital image measurement and optical measurement were conducted for 10 times in the same work section. The time and measurement results of both methods were compared.

  • In this study an iterative procedure for the analysis of drilled shafts was proposed on the basis of the load transfer mechanism. Special attention was given to the estimation of bearing capacity of drilled shafts which was compared with driven piles, and then with the results of pile load test. The load displacement at the pile head was calculated by load than sfer curves (t -z curves, q-z curves) by using Vljayvergiya, Castelli and hi -linear models. Bab ed on the analytical results, it is found that the behavior of drilled shafts is different from that of driven piles the smaller the skin friction mobilized at the pile-boil interface, the smaller the development of the bearing capacity. Hence the greater pile head movement is required to mobilize the same mainitride of bearing capacity. This trend is more noticeable in sand than in clay. It is also found that as the length-todiameter ratios increase, the dirtference of ultimate bearing capacity between drilled shafts and driven piles is becoming lass ger in sand, but it is minor in clay.
