  • With the improvement of medical state, patients' expectations for the most advanced medical equipment are increasing. Particularly, Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) is used as one of the core image diagnosis methods in all clinical area. However, it has been reported that many of patients who go through the examination suffer from anxiety to the severe noise level during the examination. In this study, both the noise reduction evaluation of headsets with sound-blocking materials added to existing sound-absorbing materials and the existence of sound blocking materials as artifacts on the examination image are tested. An MRI test noise is recorded as a speaker by cross-ordination the sound material (sponge) and the sound material (acrylic plate, copper plate, and 3D copper plate) inside the headset made from 3D pring. A quantitative assessment of headsets showed that the average headset value was 81.8 dB. The average dB value of the most soundproof material combination(Copper, acrylic plate, sponge, sponge) headsets on headsets with added charactering material was measured at 70.4 dB, and MRI showed that the copper was diamagnetic substance and excluded. The second most soundproof headset(Sponge, acrylic plate, 3D copper plate, sponge) was measured at 70.6 dB and MRI showed no artifacts. The same simulation of the material printed with a 3D copper PLA containing approximately 40 % copper powder resulted in no artifacts, therefore, the material output as a 3D printing was better suited for use. For MRI related research, the mutual development of 3D printing is highly anticipated.

  • In clustered sensor networks, since a CH (Cluster Head) collects data from its members and delivers the collected data to the sink, it is very important to prevent compromised nodes from joining a CH election and manipulating and fabricating the election result. In order to protect CH elections from compromised nodes, unpredictability, non-manipulability, and agreement property should be guaranteed in CH elections. However, existing CH election schemes cannot prevent intelligent compromised nodes from skilfully violating those properties via their cooperation. In this paper, we propose a scheme which protects the CH election process by detecting intelligent compromised nodes and excluding them. For every CH election round, each member gives a direct trust value to other members according to their behavior. Then a real reputation value is given to each member by combining the direct trust value and indirect trust values provided by other members. Then, each node evaluates the real reputation values of members in its cluster and excludes some untrustable nodes from CH candidates. The scheme greatly improves the non-manipulability and agreement property of CH election results compared to other rival schemes. Furthermore, the scheme preserves the high non-manipulability and the high agreement property even in an environment where message losses can happen.

  • The purpose of this study was to photoelastically visualize 4he distribution of fortes transmitted to the alveolus and surrounding structures using three different types of headgear for the distal movement of the upper molars. A photoelastic maxillary model was made and three different directional forces applied, which were high-pull, straight-pull, and cervical-pull. Stress distribution was recorded through circular polariscope, and two-dimensional photoelastic stress analysis was performed according to isochromatic fringe characteristics. The results were as follows: 1. In the case of high-pull headgear bodily movement occurred in the medium- length outer bow, stress distribution in the apical region was 1st molar, 2nd premolar, lst premolar in sequence and there was no apparent difference. 2. In the case of straight-pull headgear, bodily movement occurred in the long outer bow and stress distribution in the apical region was heavy in the 1st molar, 2nd premolar, 1st premolar in sequence. But. there were no apparent differences according to the length of the outer bow. 3. In the case of cervical- pull headgear, bodily movement also occulted in 4he long outer bow, and apical stress of the premolar region was heaviest among other cases and apical stress of the 2nd premolar was heaviest in the short outer bow. In clinical situations, to achieve bodily movement of the upper 1st molars without modifying outer bow height, applying an outer bow length as long as the inner bow length in high-pull headgear and applying an outer bow length longer than the inner bow length in straight-pull, cervical-pull headgear are recommended.

  • In the cluster mechanism of the wireless sensor network, the network lifetime is affected by how cluster heads are selected. One of the representative clustering mechanisms, the low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH), selects cluster heads periodically, resulting in high energy consumption in cluster reconstruction. On the other hand, the adaptive clustering algorithm via waiting timer (ACAWT) proposes a non-periodic re-clustering mechanism that reconstructs clusters if the remaining energy level of a cluster head reaches a given threshold. In this paper, we propose a re-clustering mechanism that uses multiple remaining node energy levels and does re-clustering when the remaining energy level of a cluster head reaches one level lower. Also, in determining cluster heads, both of the number of neighbor nodes and the remaining energy level are considered so that cluster heads can be more evenly placed. From the simulations based on the Qualnet simulator, we validate that our proposed mechanism outperforms ACAWT in terms of the network lifetime.

  • It is important to reduce unnecessary overhead in sensor network using battery. In addition encryption is important because of necessity of security. Since unavoidable overhead occurs in case of encryption, security and overhead are in trade-off condition. In this paper, we use a concept called trust to reduce the encryption overhead. We reduce overhead by controlling encryption key sizes while maintaining the security level where high and low trust nodes are mixed. We simulated and compared normal encryption and trust value based encryption. As a result, the latter has lower execution time and overhead. If we define a standard of trust levels considering purpose and circumstances of real network, we can use constrained resources efficiently in sensor network.

  • LEACH, one of hierarchical based routing protocols, was proposed for energy efficiency which is the most important requirement of Wireless Sensor Network(WSN). LEACH protocol is composed of a cluster of certain large number of clusters, which have a cluster head and member nodes. Member nodes send sensing data to their cluster heads, and the cluster heads aggregate the sensing data and transmit it to BS. The challenges of LEACH protocol are that cluster heads are not evenly distributed, and energy consumption to transmit aggregated data from Cluster heads directly to BS is excessive. This study, to improve LEACH protocol, suggests LECEEP that transmit data to contiguity cluster head that is the nearest and not far away BS forming chain between cluster head, and then the nearest cluster head from BS transmit aggregated data finally to BS. According to simulation, LECEEP consumes less energy and retains more number of survival node than LEACH protocol.

  • In the optical drive system, adopting the optical flying-type head (OFH) flying on a removable plastic disk, the flying stability of the small OFH should be carefully considered to ensure the reliability for first surface recording. Additional micro actuators for focus servo are discussed for better interface of optical flying head on thin cover layered plastic disk to eliminate focus error due to the non-uniformity of cover layer thickness and the tolerance of lens assembly. This study gives two simulation results on the flying stability of the OFH. One is the dependence of the flying height and pitch angle variations on the wavelength and amplitude of disk waviness. The other is the flying stability of the slider and suspension system during the dynamic load/unload (U/UL) process.

  • The Discrete Element Method (DEM) has been widely used in granular material researches. Especially, if material has a large deformation, such as ground, it can be a useful method to analyze. In this study, to simulate ground formations, DEM was used. The main purpose of DEM analysis was to investigate the numerical model which can predict the TBM performance by simulating excavating procedure. The selected EPB TBM has a 7.73 m of diameter and six spokes. And two pre-defined excavation conditions with the different rotation speeds per minute (RPM) of the cutterhead was applied. In the modeled cutterhead, the open ratio of cutterhead was 21.31% and number of cutters (including disc cutter and cutter bit) was 219. From the results, reaction forces and resistant torques at the cutterhead face and cutting tools, were measured and compared. Additionally the muck discharge rate and accumulated muck discharge by the screw auger were evaluated.
