  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the optimum driver selection according to shaft intensity, shaft length and shaft weight that are determining factors of driver shot. To achieve the above purpose, the subject were participate with handicap zero 10 male pro golfer and mean score 90(handicap about 18) amateur 10 male golfer. The used club limited number 1 driver, we tested 24 driver which is shaft intensity, length, weight, total weight and swing weight. Dependent variable was strike ball speed, flying distance and head speed. The findings can be summarized as follows. First, There is a significantly difference in CPM. Ball speed, head speed and flying distance according to driver shaft intensity were found to be the best when CPM is 230<. Second, There is a significantly difference in shaft length. Ball speed, and head speed according to driver shaft length were found to be the best at 46 inch and flying distance were found to be the best at 45 inch. Third, There is not significantly difference in SW. Ball speed and flying distance according to driver shaft weight were found to be the best with 65g. In the case of head speed, it was the fastest with 50g shaft. Four, total variables were significantly difference between in pro and amateur golfer. In conclusion, there would be differences in individual physical condition but the best result was found with a driver of CPM 230<, shaft length 46inch, and shaft weight 65g.

  • The applicability of headed bars in exterior beam-column joints under reversed cyclic loading was investigated. A total of ten pullout tests were first performed to examine pullout behavior of headed bars subjected to monotonic and cyclic loading with test variables such as connection type between head and bar stem (weld or no weld), loading methods (monotonic or cyclic loading), and head shape (small or large circular head and square head). Two full-scale beam-column joint tests were then performed to compare the structural behavior of exterior beam-column joints constructed using two different reinforcement details: i.e. $90^{\circ}$ standard hooks and headed bars. Both joints were designed following the recommendations of ACI-ASCE Committee 352 for Type 2 performance: i.e. the connection is required to dissipate energy through reversals of deformation into inelastic range. The pullout test results revealed that welded head to the stem did not necessarily result in increased pullout strength when compared to non-welded head. Relatively large circular head resulted in higher peak load than smaller circular and square head. Both beam-column joints with conventional $90^{\circ}$ hooks and headed bars behaved similarly in terms of crack development, hysteresis curves, and peak strengths. The joint using the headed bars showed better overall structural performance in terms of ductility, deformation capacity, and energy dissipation. These experimental results demonstrate that the headed bars using relatively small head can be properly designed far use in external beam-column joint.

  • Wireless sensor network(WSN) is made up of a lot of battery operated inexpensive sensors that, once deployed, can not be replaced. Therefore, energy efficiency of WSN is essential. Among the methods for energy efficiency of the network, clustering algorithms, which divide a WSN into multiple smaller clusters and separate all sensors into cluster heads and their associated member nodes, are very energy efficient routing technique. The first cluster-based routing protocol, LEACH, randomly elects the cluster heads in accordance with the probability. However, if the distribution of selected cluster heads is not good, uniform energy consumption of cluster heads is not guaranteed and it is possible to decrease the number of active nodes. Here we propose a new routing scheme that, by comparing the remaining energy of all nodes in a cluster, selects the maximum remaining energy node as a cluster head. Because of decrease in energy gap of nodes, the node that was a cluster head operates as a member node much over. As a result, the network lifespan is increased and more data arrives at base station.

  • Recently, a curtain wall system was applied to skyscrapers to prevent fire spreading along the vertical direction due to stack effect and outside air flow when a fire breaks out in skyscraper. Conventional sprinklers cannot prevent the spread of fire to the upstairs areas, which increases the loss of life and property. In this study, a water curtain nozzle that creates wider water coverage on the surface of glass and can prevent the spread of fire to the upstairs areas was developed. The spray pattern of the water curtain nozzle was compared with that of a sprinkler to determine performance of the water curtain nozzle. A fire experiment was constructed on the second floor to verify performance of the water curtain nozzle in preventing the spread of fire to the upstairs areas. The fire and watering experiment proved that the water curtain nozzle prevented more effectively the spread of fire than the conventional sprinkler. The position of first crack and critical temperature of fracture were also analyzed using numerical analysis.

  • In tunnel excavation by TBMs, a cutterhead, which practically excavates the ground, is an important part directly affecting net penetration rate. Most of the researches on the cutterhead design that have been carried out until now are on the cutter arrangement. It is difficult to find a study for the effect of the scraper installation direction on TBM excavation although same cutterheads except for direction of the scraper are used in Korea. Therefore, this paper shows how the direction of scraper installation affects shield-TBM excavation. Discrete element method was used to identify the effect of scraper installation direction on shield-TBM excavation. When the scraper installation direction was outward, the amount of particles per unit time flowed into the cutter head opening was smaller than when the scraper installation direction was inward, and more loads were applied to the cutterhead.

  • Off-track capability is used to determine the track pitch of hard disk drive system, and the off-track capability as a function of track pitch is called 747 curve. In this paper, 747 curves were simulated with computer. Side reading and recording parameters were obtained by magnetic field analysis using 3-D finite element method. Head read signal and noise voltages for calculation of signal to noise ratio (SNR) were obtained using reciprocity theorem. According to the 747 curves thus obtained, the off-track capability was increased as erase band width increased and as effective signal to noise ration $(SNR_{eff}}$ decreased. A simulated 747 curve and a measured 747 curve (using spin stand) of a planar silicon head with track width of 4.1 um were very similar, which indicated that the simulation was carried out properly.

  • In this study, the flow characteristics around the cutter head, which makes the dredging soil suspended, were measured to evaluate the environmental affect of the dredging works. The PIV was used for measuring the flow characteristics around the cutter head for suction and non-suction cases. As the results, the mean velocity was decreased from the cutter head to outward. The mean velocity decreasing rate of the non-suction case was larger than that of the suction case, but the turbulence intensity decreasing rate of the non-suction case was smaller than that of the suction case because of the suction energy which makes the z-direction flow.

  • In this paper, we proposed a novel conditional access system to reduce the overhead transmission rate for messages which verify the entitlement of subscribers in bandwidth-limited system. We adapted a key update system with the tree structure which had been used for IP multicast to a group hierarchy for the subscriber groups or channel groups. We also analyzed the overhead transmission rate for periodic key update and aperiodic one for change in a subscriber. The numerical evaluations show that the proposed system can significantly reduce the overhead transmission rate for dynamic subscriber change up to several hundred thousands times for various system configuration.

  • AMGA is a metadata catalogue service which offers access to metadata for files stored on the Grid. We evaluated the performance of AMGA and analyzed overhead in the current AMGA implementation. It had 700% poor throughput (read/insert per second) compared with the direct DB access. The biggest overhead was in managing GSI/SSL Connections, degrading throughput about 350%. We alsomeasured the throughput of load-balanced AMGA services, and it showed linear throughput improvement when we increased the number of AMGA server. In addition, we measured the throughputin the WAN environment, and it showed the number of the maximum connections that an AMGA server can handle is the most critical factor in the throughput.
