In this study, for one-way concrete slabs, the flexural strength, deflection, and crack width according to the amount of reinforcing bars were compared for the cases of using steel reinforcing bars and CFRP reinforcing bars. Critical performance dominating the flexural design was investigated and how to design the CFRP-reinforced concrete slab with efficiency was also discussed. It was found that CFRP-reinforced concrete slabs could achieve greater design flexural strength with the same amount of reinforcing bars compared to those using steel rebar, while deflection and crack width were relatively much larger. In concrete slabs using CFRP reinforcing bars, it was confirmed that the maximum crack width acts as a dominant factor in the design. For more efficient flexural design, it is necessary to mitigate the allowable crack width to 0.7 mm and to apply smaller diameter reinforcing bars to control the crack width.

For RC structures, long-term deformation occurs due to the inherent characteristics, which are creep and shrinkage. In terms of serviceability, it is important to limit deflection caused by the deformation to the allowable deflection. In the recent years, various repair and strengthening methods have been used to improve performance of the existing RC structures. One of the typical methods is FRP externally bonded method (EBR). Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) has been used worldwide as repair and strengthening materials due to its superior properties. Besides, it has to offer improved strengthening performance not only under instantaneous load but sustained load. Therefore, accurate prediction method of deflection for the RC members externally bonded with FRP under sustained load is required. In this paper, three beams were fabricated. Two beams were externally strengthened with one of CFRP plate and GFRP plate respectively. Total three beams were superimposed under sustained load of 25 kN. During 470 days, deflections at midspan were obtained. Moreover, creep coefficients and shrinkage strains were calculated by using ACI-209 code and CEB-FIP code. In order to predict the deflection of the beams, EMM, AEMM, Branson's method and Mayer's method were used. Through the experiment, it was found that the specimen with CFRP plate has the most flexural capacity and Mayer's method is the most precise method to predict total long-term deflections.

A sandwich element is a special Hybrid structural form of the composite construction, which is consisted of three main parts : thin, stiff and relatively high density faces separated by a thick, light, and weaker core material. In a sandwich construction, the shear deformation of the faces. Therefore, in the calculation of the bending stiffness, the shear effect should be included. In this paper, the minimum weight is selected as an object function, as the weight critical structures are usually composed of these kind of construction. To obtain the minimum weight of sandwich panel, the principle of minimum potential energy is used and as for the design constraints, the allowable bending stress of face material, the allowable shear stress of core material, the allowable value of panel deflection and the wrinkling stress of faces are adopted, as well as the different boundary conditions. For the engineering purpose of sandwich panel design, the results are tabulated, which are calculated by using the nonlinear optimization technique SUMT.

Eco deck plate system is a construction method that deconstruction of galvanized steel sheets is possible by integrating steel-wire-integrated girders and the galvanized steel sheets with bolts. Therefore, compared with previous steel-wire-integrated deck plates which were joined by welding, the system is acknowledged as the construction method possible management and repair. This study conducted an experimental research by manufacturing total 24 full size specimens in a same condition for 12-shape specimens by two parts to evaluate structural behaviors of the eco deck plates. In the results after the test, permissible deflection for the construction load action was shown to be values under design values and satisfactory. The processing of lattice steel wires was presented to be structurally advantageous in being manufactured by cutting downward. Also, in case of a specimen that D13 as a steel wire was used, destruction occurred at the welding part of the bottom steel wire and the lattice steel wire, so improvement measures for the welding in factory manufacture are necessary.

A steel frame is one of the most commonly used structural systems due to its resistance to various types of applied loads. Many studies have been conducted to investigate the effects of several parameters, such as connection flexibility, the boundary condition of each support, and beam-to-column stiffness ratio, on the characteristic behavior of a frame. Based on the results of these studies, several design methods have been proposed. This research focused on the number of bolts on the rotational stiffness of a double-angle connection, and its effect on the story drift of a frame. To achieve these purposes, a simplified analytical model was proposed. Several experimental tests were also conducted to obtain the rotational connection stiffness of each double-angle connection.

Recently, much research has been conducted on FRP composite to replace steel. However, the concept of FRP girder filled with concrete has not been fully attempted. This study focuses on the analytical behavior of FRP girders filled with concrete. FRP girders usually have large deflection due to relatively low elastic modulus compared to steel members. However, in the previous experimental investigation on small sized modular beams, it has been verified that the displacement of FRP-girder filled with concrete is reduced and the strength is increased considerably. In this research, analytical investigations have conducted to verify the analytical method by comparing the results with tests. In addition, analyses on large girders assembled with small modules have been carried out to predict the feasibility before tests. The analytical results showed that the assembled FRP girders can be used as substitutes for steel girders.

The deflection of reinforced concrete members can be highly variable, due to uncertainties in the characteristics of the concrete. However, current standards do not take this problem into account, instead recommending only the minimum thickness and maximum allowable deflections based on empirical data. This paper is aimed at evaluation deflection variabilities by applying a probabilistic analysis model to a finite element analysis model. To evaluate the variabilities of deflections, a Monte Carlo simulation, which incorporated the eight parameters related to concrete, reinforcement, member size, and tension stiffening. The results showed that lager spans were more sensitive to the deflection due to loads and that as the applied live loads were increases and the slab thickness were decreased, the deflection variability increased.

As the risk of earthquakes increases recently, earthquake-resistant designs were getting interest. For this reason, this study applies that Friction pendulum-type seismic isolator is a device that attenuates seismic energy by friction and pendulum motion. The friction pendulum-type seismic isolator of this study is very easy to transport, install and maintain with light weight of metal by applying the slider using high strength engineering plastic. In addition, there is an advantage that the corrosion resistance is very excellent compared to the existing metal parts. However, there is concern about long-term durability by replacing metal materials. In this study, the frictional pendulum-type seismic isolator with EP was applied to compressive-shear test, repeated fatigue test, and ultimate load test after fatigue test, and analyzed the deformation and shear or properties after the test. As the results, the adequacy of long term fatigue durability was experimentally proven.
