Analysis of Ocean Color Data for Observation on the Ocean Environment Change Caused by Typhoon Path (태풍의 이동경로에 따른 해양환경변화관측을 위한 해색 자료 분석)

  • When the typhoons are passing over the ocean, the ocean environment has both physical and biological impacts on the East, South sea and Yellow sea of Korea. As a result of typhoon path, vertical mixing and upwelling injured colder subsurface water, and leaded to phytoplankton blooming along the typhoons. The ocean environment before and after a typhoon played an important role in the biological effect of sea surface. Although the magnitude of sea surface temperature (SST) gets cooler because of typhoon path, other physical and biophysical responses are quite different such as chlorophyll, K490 and SST. The purpose of this study is to compare with the typhoon path that influenced the Korean Peninsula and ocean environment parameters which were observed by ocean color remotely-sensed data. The MODIS data were used to assess the parameters of ocean environments such as K490 and chlorophyll data from 2002 to 2005. Mean chlorophyll from MODIS data increased by about 1-4% in the East sea after the typhoon. Mean concentration of MODIS chlorophyll in the post-typhoon period increased along the typhoon passage. However, Jeju coastal area has different patterns from those of the East sea.

A Comparative Analysis of Fishery and Marine Environment-related Policies on Estimated Amount of Fishery Debris Caused by Fishing (조업기인 어업쓰레기 발생추정량에 대한 어업 및 해양환경 관련 정책 비교분석)

  • This study aimed to compare differences according to categories of fishery and marine environmental policies for the (estimated) amount of fishery waste generated by fishing, and to analyze the correlation between associated independent and dependent variables. The independent variables were divided into three dif erent sectors. The first sector included precautionary policies that observed eco-friendly fishing support program, institutional prevention activities, and physical barriers installation. The second sector with the current management policies included the relevant vessel operations, establishment of fishery order, fishery restructuring, and fishery ground clean-up. Thirdly, post-response policies comprised the litter purification from river to shoreline, the collection and removal of marine, sedimentary, and floating debris, purchasing salvaged debris generated while fishing, fishery waste disposal, and repairing damage caused by marine litter. The indicator used was the settlement amount by each program. The dependent variable was the estimated amount of fishery waste and the indicator was the sum of the loss of traps and gill nets and the loss of their appendages. According to the results of Kruskal-Wallis Test, the estimated amount of fishery waste was highest in the East Sea in terms of sea area and the highest in the Si(city) according to basic local municipality. The settlement amount related to the marine environment services was largest in the Gun(county). Further, there were significant differences between Gun(county) and the other regions(Si(city) and Gu(autonomous district)) with respect to most variables. The variables related to the estimated amount of fishery debris were the project purchasing salvaged debris generated while fishing and fishery waste disposal program in the post-response policies.

  • This study was carried out empirical analysis of the factors that affect the recognition of the social capital of the Korea Coast Guard. Through the literature review, leadership types and institutional environments were set as independent variables, and components of social capital were set as trust, participation and network. The result showed that higher institutional environments were effective to building trust and network. And both transformational and transactional leadership were effective to increasing participation. These results supports literature reviews, and this proved necessity of change in the leadership and institutional environment for building the social capital of the Korea Coast Guard effectively.

  • In matched field processing (MEP), the observed acoustic field data is basically correlated with the replica produced by the modeling. therefore the results of source localization and correlation is limited by the mismatch of the environment and sensor location. In this paper. the effects of mismatch in environment and system on the bias in estimating the source location are investigated in the context of source localization. In the Pekeris waveguide, the simulation shows that the mismatches in environment and system, can cause a significant biases in the source localization and a degradation in MFP correlation. Mismatch caused by uncertainties in array tilt and depth, bottom depth, bottom sound speed, etc. causes degradation in source localization performance.

  • A reliable test of offshore plant hold a key post in offshore engineering technology. The offshore self-supporting of process module design and basic design technology needs engineering verification based on the reliable test. And also reliable verification test data is very important. Therefore, verification test system for offshore installation simulation is necessary. This paper explains design of data acquisition system and control system based on the parameter of measured and controlled variable which is for establishing offshore installation simulation system.

A Study on the Damage Range According to Leakage Scenarios in Natural Gas Pipeline of LNG Fueled Ship (LNG 추진선의 천연가스 배관에서 누출 시나리오에 따른 피해범위에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, damages caused by flash fire, overpressure, and thermal radiation based on the sizes of leak holes were evaluated using the areal location of hazardous atmospheres when natural gas leaked owing to the damage of pipeline in a LNG fueled ship. In addition, environmental variables (wind speed, atmospheric temperature, and atmospheric stability) and process variables (pipe pressure and pipe length) were classified to analyze the damage impact ranges caused by various scenarios. From the results, the damage range caused by the environmental variables was the largest, followed by overpressure and thermal radiation. Additionally, for the process variables, regardless of the pressure, length, or size of the leak holes, the damage range attributed to flash fire was the most significant, and the damage range was high in the order of overpressure and thermal radiation, similar to the environmental variables. The larger the size of the leak holes, the higher the values of the environmental and process variables, and the higher the damage range caused by jet fire compared to the environmental variables.

Preliminary Study on the Reproduction of Dissolved Oxygen Concentration in Jinhae Bay Based on Deep Learning Model (딥러닝 모형 기반 진해만 용존산소농도 재현을 위한 기초연구)

  • We conducted a case study to determine the optimal model parameters and predictors of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) for the reproduction of dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration in Jinhae Bay. The model parameter case study indicated the lowest accuracy when the Hidden node=10, Epoch=100. This was caused by underfitting of machine learning. The accuracy increased as the Hidden node and Epoch increased. The accuracy was the highest when the Hidden node=80 and Epoch=100 with R2=0.99. In the bottom DO reproduction of Step 1 of the predictors case study, accuracy was highest when the water temperature was used as a predictor with R2=0.81. In Step 2, The R2 value increased up to 0.92 when the water temperature and SiO2 were used as a predictor. This was caused by a high correlation between the bottom DO and SiO2 concentrations. Consequently, we determined the optimal model parameters and predictors of LSTM for the reproduction of DO concentration in Jinhae Bay.

  • 최근 전세계적으로 자율운항선박(Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship, 이하 MASS)의 기술 개발 및 시험 항해가 본격적으로 추진되고 있다. 하지만 MASS의 출현과 별개로 운항 방식, 제어 방식, 관제 방식 등 명확한 지침은 부재한 상태이다. 육상에서는 머신 러닝을 통하여 자율주행차에 대한 다양한 제어 방식을 연구하고 있으며, 이에 따라서 MASS도 제어 또는 통항 방식에 대한 기초 틀을 마련할 필요성이 있다. 하지만 육상과 달리 해상은 기상, 조종성능, 수심, 장애물 등 다양한 변수들이 존재하고 있어 접근 방식이 복잡하여, 머신 러닝을 적용할 때 환경에 대한 요소를 적절하게 설정해야 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 멀티 에이전트 강화학습을 통하여 MASS의 자율적인 통항 방식을 제안하기 위하여 강화학습의 해상교통환경 설정을 위한 요소를 도출하고자 하였다.
