Symptomatic Benign Intraosseous Osteolytic Lesions of the Glenoid: Report of 3 cases (증상이 있는 관절와의 양성 골내 골용해성 병변: 3예에 대한 증례보고)

  • Benign intraosseous osteolytic lesions of the glenoid are very rare. The present study reports on three cases of symptomatic intraosseous osteolytic lesions of the glenoid in which surgical interventions were made. Of the three, two cases presented with intraosseous ganglion and one case with fibrous dysplasia. In all the cases, the lesion was located at the posteroinferior portion of the glenoid, and it seems to be related to posterior shoulder pain. If intraosseous osteolytic lesions have symptoms or the risk for chondral defects or cortical breakage, surgical intervention is needed and bone curettage with or without bone grafting will be a useful treatment option.

  • The Air-breathing engine like Sea-Star I is a second propulsive force generator to fly to the target after the booster generating initial propulsive force is separated. The performance of Sea-Star I engine should be verified because the cruise missile controls direction and altitude during flight, so ground engine test is executed before flight test. This these presents evaluation method of ground engine test to verify performance of Sea-Star I's engine.

전자선 전처리 방법을 이용한 염색폐수내 난분해성 물질의 제거

  • 본 연구는 전자선을 이용하여 염색폐수에 함유되어 있는 난분해성 물질을 생물학적으로 분해가 용이한 물질로 전환시키는 한편 전환되어진 물질을 표준 활성슬러지법을 이용하여 생물학적 처리함으로 처리효율을 극대화 하는 전자선이용 염색폐수 정화기술을 개발하기위해 수행하였다. 종합 염색폐수에 1 kGy의 전자선 전처리를 한 후 생물학적 처리를 연계하였을 때 0.1 이상의 생분해도 증가를 나타냈으며 오염부하량 변화에 따른 미생물 활동도역시 안정적이었다. 또한 물벼룩을 이용한 생태독성 평가에서도 2.49의 원폐수 독성이 2.16이하로 감소함을 확인하였다. 난분해성 물질에 대한 전자선 전처리의 효과를 확인하기 위하여 대표적인 난분해성 물질인 TPA 인공폐수를 대상으로 전자선 가속기 전처리한 결과40 % 이상 처리효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 이러한 결과로 보아 전자선 전처리와 생물학적 처리공정의 연계로 보다 효과적인 염색폐수의 처리가 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

Engineering Characteristics and D istribution of Marine Clay in Pohang City (포항 해성점토의 분포와 공학적 특성)

  • This study discusses the engineering characteristics and distribution of marine clay in Pohang by providing evidence that Pohang area has been upheaving in connection with the changes of sea level and geographical development in the Babt Coast. It is estimated that the sea level of the East Coast about 10,000 years ago had been 25 meters below than that of the present. The corroborative fact is that the marine clay deposited below the sea level due to the changes of the crust in Pohang is usually found above the sea level. Judging from their OCR values of leas than 0.77 and Bu/po'ratio of less than 0.14 at the depth of 7.8 meters below the ground level, marine clays of Dohu 1-dong and Jangsung-dong in Pohang City are presumed to be in a state of underconsolidation. However, more sophisticated measures and analysis are needed to prove it.

  • The purpose of this paper is to present the pressuremeter test result and analysis for Yulchon Combined Cycle Power Plant(CCPP) site. The CCPP site is old backfill area with the hillcut materials obtained from the borrow sources near the mountains. The geology of this area consists of 6-layers from the ground level such as hillcut material, dredged clay fill, silty sand, original marine clay, weathered rock, soft rock, etc.. The pressuremeter test has been carried out with three different probe, in size and membrane type for all layers except the clay layers. The cone penetration test has been also carried out to collaborate with the pressuremeter test in the hillcut material layer.

  • 초극세 섬유는 종래의 섬유와 비교해서 매우 가늘고 큰 표면적을 지니므로 섬유고분자 고유의 성질 이외에 활성이 높은 섬유표면이 가지는 특수한 성질의 기여가 매우 커지게 되므로 흡착특성이나 접착특성 등 특수한 성질의 기여가 매우 커지게 된다. 초극세 섬유를 제조하는 방법은 통상적으로 멜트블로운법, 플래쉬법, 전기방사법 그리고 해도형 복합방사법의 4가지로 분류된다. 그중 해도형 복합방사법은 가장 안정적인 방법으로 PET기준으로 0.01데니어 급까지 상용화가 되어 있다. 해도형 복합섬유의 개발에 있어서 중요한 것 중에 하나가 해성분 폴리머의 용출기술이다. 초극세화를 목적으로 해성분인 변성폴리에스테르를 제거시키기 위해서 실시되는 알칼리(NaOH)에 의한 감량공정은 그 처리조건에 따라서 초극세사로 잔존해야하는 도성분의 정규 폴리에스테르까지 손상시킬 수 있기 때문에 균일한 용출조건의 확립은 매우 중요하다. 그러나 초극세화가 진행될수록 알칼 리가 섬유 내부까지 균일하게 침투하기가 어려우며 감량된 도성분도 비표면적이 증가하기 때문에, 해성분의 균일한 용출 및 감량을 위한 안정적인 조건을 선정하기가 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 코오롱FM에서 새롭게 개발한 800nm급 해도형 초극세사 제품의 감량특성에 대하여 고찰함으로써 제품화에 필요한 요소 기술의 기초를 마련하고자 한다. 유기산을 이용한 전처리가 해도형 초극세 폴리에스테르 섬유의 해성분 감량 특성에 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사하고, 알칼리 감량시 NaOH의 농도, 처리시간 및 처리온도별 감량특성에 대하여 고찰하였다.

A Systematic Study on the Asteroidea in Korea I. Species from the South Sea (한국산 해성류의 계통분류학적 연구 I. 남해 연안에 사는 종)

  • For the systematic study of Korean Asteroidea the specimens collected from total 69 localities in the South Sea, Korea during the period from April, 1980 to Apirl, 1992 were indentified. As a result, 23 species, 18 genea, 8 families and 5 orders were identified of which two species, Mediaster brachiatus and Stellaster equestris have not been reported in Korea yet. Asterina perctinifera was the commonest species collected from 43 localities of 69 localities. Fifteen species were found in Korea Strait and Cheju Island area, respectively. Fifteen temperate species, 7 tropical species and 3 boreal species were found to be distributed in the South Sea of Korea. The asteroids known so far in Korea tuned out to be 43 species.

  • One of ways to make high-strength concrete is for the mix contain particles graded down to the finest size : this is achieved by the use of fly ash, silica fume which fills the spaces between the cement particle and between the aggregate and the cement particles. And, the mix needs a sufficient workability. This is achieved by the use of a superplasticizer. This study is to investigate frost resistance of high-strength concrete at early age, with ratio of tensile strength and recovery of compressive strength, when high-strength concrete is placed in cold climates. According to this study, it is necessary to ensure 4 % of air content, 5 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ of tensile strength, at least, for frost resistance of high-strength concrete at early age.

Consideration of Physical and Compression Characteristics among Western and Southern Coastal Marine Clays - Incheon·Mokpo·Gwangyang·Busan - (서·남해안 해성점토의 물리·압축특성 고찰 - 인천·목포·광양·부산 -)

  • Marine clays are widely distributed in Korean eastern, western and southern coastal areas. Understanding engineering characteristics of the soft ground is very important, whenever civil structures are constructed in those coastal areas. It is because the ground is composed of highly compressible marine clay. In this paper, the physical and compression characteristics of Incheon, Mokpo, Gwangyang and Busan marine clay were analyzed and the characteristics between western and southern coastal marine clays were compared. For this, test results of 1,471 samples from 114 sites were used. As a result, Incheon clay showed the lowest plasticity and the highest unit weight due to influx of silt from the Yellow River and the turn of the tide of Incheon area. However, Gwangyang clay showed highly compressible characteristic due to extensive reclamation. On the other hand, Mokpo and Busan clay showed partially similar levels of characteristics. The compression index of Mokpo and Busan clay was high more than twice in comparison with Incheon clay and that of Gwangyang clay was higher than seventy percents in comparison with Mokpo and Busan clay.

The Role of Organic Amendments with Different Biodegradability in Ammonia Volatilization during Composting of Cattle Manure (우분뇨 퇴비화 중 암모니아 휘산에 대한 이분해성 및 난분해성 유기 첨가물의 역할)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the roles of co-existed organic materials (OM) with different biodegradability in composting of cattle manure in terms of $CO_2$ emission and $NH_3$ volatilization. Either sawdust (SD, low biodegradability) or rice bran (RB, high biodegradability) was mixed with cattle manure at a various rate and the amounts of $CO_2$ emission and $NH_3$ volatilization were determined periodically during 4 weeks of composting. Percentage of dry matter loss during the composting period was also calculated. The amount of $CO_2$ emitted increased with increasing rate of OM and was significantly (P<0.01) higher in the RB treatment than in the SD treatment by 43 to 122% depending on the rate of OM Accordingly, % of dry matter loss during 4 weeks of composting was higher in the RB (rang: from 35.1 % to 41.5%) than that in the SD treatments (from 18.7% to 22.6%), showing that RB is more biodegradable than SD. During the early composting period up to 8 days, negligible amount of ammonia volatilization was detected in both treatments regardless of application rates. In the RB treatment, substantial amount of ammonia volatilization was detected thereafter, however, no meaningful ammonia volatilization was observed in the SD treatment until the end of composting. Such differences could be attributed to the different properties of SD and RB. For example, the high C/N ratio of SD could enhance $NH_4^+$ immobilization and thus decrease $NH_4^+$ concentration that is susceptible to ammonia volatilization. Binding of $NH_4^+$ on to phenolic compounds of SD may also contribute to the decrease in $NH_4^+$ concentration. Meanwhile, as RB has a relatively low C/N ratio, remineralization of immobilized $NH_4^+$ could increase $NH_4^+$ concentration as high as the level for the occurrence of ammonia volatilization. Therefore, our study suggests that OM which is resistant to biodegradation can reduce $NH_3$ volatilization largely by physico-chemical pathways across the entire composting period and that easily biodegradable OM can retard $NH_3$ volatilzation via microbial immobilization in the early period of composting followed by rapid remineralization, leading to substantial volatilization of $NH_3$ in the middle stage of composting.
