Two Views on the Mathematics Lessons: Teacher's Perspective and Students' Perspective (수학 수업을 바라보는 두 가지 시각: 교사의 관점과 학생의 관점)

  • There have been a number of lesson analysis studies, yet not many studies address the issue of the perspective of students who play a key role in the lesson along with the teacher. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the teacher and the students interpret the mathematics lesson they experienced, and to find out the potential discrepancy between the teacher and the students in their perceptions of mathematics lesson. To pursue this purpose, 10 consecutive lessons were videotaped in the 8th grade mathematics classroom, and the video-stimulated post-lesson interviews were also conducted with the teacher and the students. Based on the lesson videos and the interview data, six discrepancies between the teacher and the students in their perceptions of mathematics lesson were dentified: the discrepancy between the teacher's intention and students' interest in the lesson; different interpretation and response to the teacher's mistake; formal abidance; topaze effect; different recognition of the students' preference among the topics; teacher's insufficient response to students' needs. These six discrepancies were further categorized and some implications were drawn.

  • 댐의 조절방류가 하류 하천생태에 미는 영향은 매우 복잡하다. 하류생물상에 미치는 영향은 댐에서의 거리, 유황의 변화크기에 따라 달라진다. 흐르는 물에 서식하는 물고기는 좋아하는 수심, 유속 및 하상재질 등을 이용하여 살아간다. 다만 생물상은 주변환경에 적응하거나 변화하는 능력이 있어 댐의 조절방류에 의한 수생태계 변화구조를 명확히 해석하기는 불가능하다(Power et al., 1988). 댐에 의한 일정방류는 생물다양성을 감소시키며, 보다 변동성이 큰 방류하천은 하천, 연안 및 생물상 변화 유도에 긍정적인 것은 사실이다. 또한 큰 규모의 홍수파는 하천지형의 동적활동을 촉진시키며, 이는 하천을 터전으로 서식하는 동물상을 위한 생태학적 여건을 개선시켜 주게 된다. 이는 주변 식생의 생태적 조건 변화에 도움을 주기 때문에 적어도 1년에 2번 정도의 홍수파방류는 하천주변 서식처의 다양성 변화에 필요한 것으로 보고되고 있다(Kondolf and Wilcock, 1996). 최근들어 댐 하류하천의 생태복원을 위해 연속적인 홍수파 방류의 중요성이 강조되고 있는데(Stanford et al, 1996) 자연하도에서 댐과 같은 구조물에 의한 유량조절은 하중도나 사주 등을 발달시키고 사주에서는 두꺼운 식생층이 형성될 뿐만아니라 수목군의 현저한 출현을 보여준다. 이렇게 사주나 식생이 고착됨에 따라 이의 저항을 피해가는 수로가 형성되고 저수로 구간외에서는 식생의 발달이 더욱 왕성해져 그 면적이 확대되고 있다. 결국 사주와 사주가 식생으로 연결되고 여기에 수목이 자라면서 웬만한 홍수에도 파괴되지 않는 거대한 식생대가 출현하게 되는데 우리나라에서도 많은 하천에서 볼 수 있는 현상이다. 또한 댐에 의한 퇴사의 차단은 하천지형의 불균형을 초래하고 식생의 발달과 함께 저수도부는 좁아지고 세굴에 의해 깊어지는 현상을 보인다. 이와같은 현상들은 수문특성의 변화에 의하여 결국 댐의 조절방류에 의한 수문 변화는 하천지형의 변화를 유발하고 하천지형의 변화는 하천환경에 변화를 미치게 된다. 본 연구에서는 실제적으로 댐이 건설된 지역에서 조사된 몇몇의 자료를 분석하여 댐건설후에 나타나는 부정적 영향을 최소화하기 위한 바람직한 댐운영방안을 제시하고자 한다.

An Exploratory Study to Find the Education Service Direction of Records Managers and Archivists' Professional Associations: Focusing on the Korea Association of Records Managers and Archivists (기록관리 전문가단체의 교육 서비스 방향 모색을 위한 탐색 연구: 한국기록전문가협회를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to identify the current situation and core competencies of records managers and archivists through an in-depth interpretation of the perception and its meaning behind their experiences and, based on them, to seek the educational service directions of professional organizations. As a result of qualitative data analysis using interpretive phenomenological research method, this study identified three categories of field needs, core competencies, and educational service directions, as well as 10 super-topics, 30 sub-topics, and 82 semantic units. Based on this, this study has suggested the educational service directions of professional organizations, such as the provision of opportunities to secure external driving forces for work innovation, the provision of learning opportunities for communication and public discussion among institutions, and the provision of new partnerships and practical learning opportunities. This study is meaningful in having derived the main educational service directions that professional organizations should focus on and support by identifying the current situation and core competencies of records managers and archivists.

An analysis of characteristics on elementary teachers' noticing in fraction division lessons (분수의 나눗셈 수업에 대한 초등교사의 노티싱 특징 분석)

  • Teachers' ability to notice is a crucial indicator of their instructional expertise. Despite the significance of this ability, research in mathematics teacher education has predominantly focused on the noticing of preservice teachers, with limited exploration into the noticing abilities of experienced in-service teachers. This study addresses this gap by examining the noticing characteristics of in-service elementary teachers actively developing their competency in elementary mathematics education. For this purpose, 23 elementary school teachers were asked to complete an analysis sheet while viewing the mathematics lesson video depicting on the concept of (fraction)÷(natural number), allowing us to scrutinize their attending, interpreting, and responding skills in detail. The study's results revealed that teachers demonstrated a tendency to attend mathematically significant aspects related to the teaching of fraction division. They interpreted the observed phenomena through the lens of fraction division's instructional principles, proposing specific pedagogical alternatives. These findings offer valuable insights for mathematics teacher education research.

Critics on Ludwig Boltzmann's Methodology of Science (루드빅 볼츠만의 과학 방법론에 대한 역사-비판적 검토)

  • As for the methodology of physical science, on the one side, Ludwig Boltzmann was declined to Scientific Realist and at the same time Epistemological Idealist. But on the other. He was neither fully nor consistently either one of them, because of rejecting the causal realism of the former and the belief in absolute certainty of the latter. Is there nevertheless any evidence that he had a coherent world view of his own? Yes. In short, he seems to identify his own position with what is called a mind-matter identity theory. In 1897, he supported that psychological processes are identical with certain processes in the brain(realism). And in 1903, he said : "Physics is not separated from psychology. They are only different sides." But Boltzmann did not explain concretely the possibility of this identity. So I tried to construct one theory of identity which is suitable for understanding problems n the physical world, though whether it would work for a full-scale world view which includes both physical and mental phenomena remains problematic. If light phenomena, for example, tend to be measured in terms of some contexts as if light were a wave and in others as if light were a particle, then one may be able to reasonably suppose that light has whatever characteristics in itself which it must have in order to seem like a wave under some conditions of measurement and like a particle in others. If this theory is provisionally to mental phenomena as well, it would mean that reality has those characteristics in itself which it must have to appear as it does to the various faculties of the mind and as it is measured in different physical situations. This is probably not what Boltzmann meant by his theory of identity, since it is very ontological and metaphysical. But in my opinion it is by far the most reasonable identity theory.

Assemblage changes of benthic foraminifera and regional paleoenvironmental changes in a piston core from the Okinawa Trough, Japan (오끼나와 해곡 주장사료 퇴적물에 대한 저서생 유공충의 군집변화와 지역해 고환경변화)

  • To investigate the paleoceanographic environmental changes around the Okinawa Trough, Japan, a piston core (RN88-PC5) was conducted on benthic foraminiferal species composition, assemblage, sedimentological and geochemical analyses. Trubidite sediment intercalated in studied core contains different benthic foraminiferal species, dwelling in shallow coral reef species, from normal hemipelagic sediment. These different benthic foraminiferal species and its assemblage are interpreted as reworked sediment when turbidite current occurred, synchronically. Grain size analysis clearly showed that mean grain size difference occurred between trubidite and hemipelagic sediments. Geochemical analysis also showed the difference of chemical composition between two sedimentary facies. Results of the foraminiferal oxygen isotope analysis showing global surface water warming records since the last 10 ka. The geochemcial analysis and previous works showed that turbidite sediment of studied core indicating sporadic occurrence of regional paleoceanographic events. Assemblage of shallow coral reef benthic foraminifera especially occurred with turbidite layer clearly support the sporadic occurrence of paleoceanographic events such as regional earthquake.

DYNAMIC MODEL DURING EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS LIFTING POSTURES (응급구조사들의 들어 올리는 자세의 동역학적 모델 분석)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 응급구조사들이 긴 척추고정판을 이용하여 환자를 들어 올리는 3가지 다른 자세와 다른 3가지 부하 조건을 이용하여, 요추 4번과 5번의 압축력, 전단응력 그리고 합력의 변화를 동역학적 모델을 제시하기 위한 분석이다. 연구방법 : 36명의 남자가 본 연구의 실험에 자발적으로 동원되었으며, 나이는 평균 21.42세이고, 신장은 평균 174.05cm이며, 체중은 평균 78.05kg이다. 이 실험에서 부하 조건은 50, 70, 90kg이고, 들어 올리는 높이는 지상에서부터 95cm 이었으며, 들어 올리는 동안의 회전고리는 110cm이었다. 운동현상학적 자료는 2-D ProReflex Motion Capture Camera을 이용하였으며, sampling rate는 60Hz로 하였다. 결과 및 논의 : 동역학적 데이터 자료를 근거로 한 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. Lunge 자세기술에서 전단응력과 합력 등이 최소의 stress로 요추 4번 5번에 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 Lunge 기술에서 압축력은 약간 증가되는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구에서 Stooped 자세기술에서는 아주 큰 전단응력과 합력 등이 요추 4번, 5번 관절에 넓게 작용하는 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 들어 올리는 동작을 할 때 상해의 원인이 된다고 사료된다. 특히 응급구조사들이 들것을 들어 올릴 때 너무 큰 전단응력이 요추 4번, 5번 관절에 작용을 하면 비정상적으로 병리학상 또는 해부학상 신체적변화가 온다고 해석할 수 있다. 그래서 응급구조사들에게 들것을 들어올리는 stooped 자세는 아주 크고 많은 합력 작용하기 때문에 권고될만한 기술이 아니라고 해석 된다. Squat 자세에서 중간 정도의 압축력, 전단응력 그리고 합력이 작용된다. 만약 응급구조사가 전단응력 그리고 합력이 요추에 미치는 영향이 가장 걱정된다면, lunge 자세가 두 가지 힘을 줄여줄 수 있다고 사료된다. 마지막으로 응급구조사가 들것을 들어올리는 데는 squat 자세 기술이 가장 좋다고 사료 된다.

Assessing the skill of seasonal flow forecasts from ECMWF for predicting inflows to multipurpose dams in South Korea (ECMWF 계절 기상 전망을 활용한 국내 다목적댐 유입량 예측의 성능 비교·평가)

  • Forecasting dam inflows in the medium to long term is crucial for effective dam operation and the prevention of water-related disasters such as floods and droughts. However, the increasing frequency of extreme weather events due to climate change has made hydrological forecasting more challenging. Since 2000, seasonal weather forecasts, which provide predictions for weather variables up to about seven months ahead, and their hydrological interpretation, known as Seasonal Flow Forecasts (SFFs) have gained significant global interest. This study utilises seasonal weather forecasts from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), converting them into inflow forecasts using a hydrological model for 12 multipurpose dams in South Korea from 2011 to 2020. We then compare the performance of these SFFs with the Ensemble Streamflow Prediction (ESP). Our results indicate that while SFFs are more effective for short-term predictions of 1-2 months, ESP outperforms SFFs for long-term predictions. Seasonally, the performance of SFFs is higher in October-November but lower from December to February. Moreover, our findings demonstrate that SFFs are highly effective in quantitatively predicting dry conditions, although they tend to underestimate inflows under wet conditions.

Analysis of Nonlinear Dynamics in Family Model (가족 관계에서의 비선형 거동 해석)

  • Recently, it is emphasized importance of family. The new husband and wife are created by caused marriage, they organize new family including wife's home and husband's home. As a result, they conflict or accomplish peace with new family. Such a researchers mainly have been studied in the social science side. Because there is no mathematical modeling which is one of the natural science, for family relationship, it is not provide to reveal the behavioral phenomena between families fundamentally. In this paper, one of the nonlinear research for social subject, we modify love model of Romeo and Juliet. Then we propose novel family relationship model for parent-in-law and daughter (or son)-in-law relation. We also confirm chaotic behavior or nonlinear behavior by time series and phase portrait.
