Comparison of Analysis Model on Soil Disaster According to Soil Characteristics (지반특성에 따른 토사재해 해석 모델 비교)

  • This study analyzed the ground characteristics region by designating 3 research areas, Anrim-dong in Chungju City, Busa-dong in Daejeon Metropolitan City and Sinan-dong in Andong City out of the areas subject to concentrated management to prepare for sediment disaster in downtown areas. The correlation between ground characteristics were observed by using characteristics (crown density, root cohesion, rainfall characteristics, soil characteristics) and the risk areas were predicted through sediment disaster prediction modeling. Landslide MAPping (LSMAP), Stability Index MAPping (SINMAP) and Landslide Hazard MAP (LHMAP) were used for the comparative analysis of the hazard prediction model for sediment disaster. As a result of predicting the sediment disaster danger, in case of SINMAP which was generally used, excessive range was predicted as a hazardous area and in case of the Korea Forest Service's landslide hazard map (LHMAP), the smallest prediction area was assessed. LSMAP predicted a medium range of SINMAP and LHMAP as hazardous area. The difference of the prediction results is that the analysis parameters of LSMAP is more diverse and engineering than two comparative models, and it is found that more precise prediction is possible.

Influence of microthread design on marginal cortical bone strain developement: A finite element analysis (임플란트 경부 미세나사 디자인이 치밀골의 스트레인에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The present study was aimed to evaluate the level of cortical bone strain during the placement of an implant. The primary concern was to investigate if the extent of overloading area near the marginal bone could be affected by microthread fabricated at the cervical 1/3 of an implant. Materials and methods: Three dimensional finite element analysis was used to simulate the insertion of 3 implants. Control model was $4.1{\times}10$ mm implant (Submerged model, Dentis Co,, Daegu, Korea) equipped with a main thread only. Type I was with main thread and microthread, and Type II had similar thread pattern but was of tapered body. A PC-based finite element software (DEFORM 3D ver 5, SFTC, Columbus, OH, USA) was used to calculate a total of 3,600 steps of analysis, which simulated the whole insertion. Results: Results showed that the strain field in the marginal bone within 1 mm of the implant wall was higher than 4,000 micro-strain in the control model. The size of bone overloading was 1-1.5 mm in Type I, and greater than 2 mm in Type II implants. Conclusion: These results indicate that the marginal bone may be at the risk of resorption on receiving the implant for all 3 implant models studied. Yet, the risk was greater for Type I and Type II implants, which had microthread at the cervical 1/3.

  • The FTA conventional tariffs shall be applied that the imported goods are subject to the conventional tariffs under any agreement, and the origin of the good is the contracting state in accordance with the criteria for determination origin under any agreement. An importer who intends to be eligible for the application of a conventional tariff shall file a request for the application of a conventional tariff with the head of the competent customs house before the relevant import declaration is accepted. The purpose of this study is to examine the legal standard and verification cases for the judgement of the tax tribunal of FTA conventional tariffs. Through this study, this paper is to provide several implications for companies seeking the benefits of FTA conventional tariffs. The Korean companies to do the following: confirm the effective requirements for direct transport of goods through non-parties under the Korea EU FTA, confirm the criterion for application of conventional tariffs such as certificate of origin and claims for ex post facto conventional tariffs under the Korea US FTA, confirm the issuer of origin declaration and the recognition of origin declaration of bill of lading under the Korea EU FTA, utilize the tax appeal system by denial of FTA conventional tariffs, and prepare the discrepancies in interpretation of legal standard under FTA and FTA Special Customs Act.

A Kinetic Study on the Esterification of Oleic Acid with Methanol in the Presence of Amberlyst-15 (Amberlyst-15 촉매의 존재 하에서 올레산과 메탄올의 에스테르화 반응 속도식 연구)

  • The esterification reaction of free fatty acid with methanol was investigated in the presence of catalyst, Amberlyst-15, producing fatty acid methyl ester, namely, biodiesel. In this paper, the effects of the reaction parameters such as reaction temperature, mole ratio of alcohol to oleic acid and mass of catalyst on the catalytic activity have been examined. The results showed that the reaction rate increased about twice as the temperature increased every $20^{\circ}C$ in the reaction temperature range from 333 K to 373 K. The equilibrium conversion rate of oleic acid increased with the feed mole ratio of alcohol to acid ranging from 6:1 to 44:1. When the feed mole ratio was higher than 44:1, all the results were similar to that of 44:1. As for the influence of the mass of catalyst, the initial reaction rate increased from 1.2 to 1.3 times as the mass of catalyst doubles in the range of the catalyst weight from 5 to 20 wt%. The experiment data obtained were well described by the second reaction rate using a pseudo-homogeneous model.

Analysis on Creep of Concrete under Multiaxial Stresses Using Microplane Model (미세평면 모델을 적용한 다축응력 상태의 콘크리트 크리프 분석)

  • Poisson's ratio due to multiaxial creep of concrete reported by existing experimental works was controversial. Poisson's ratio calculated from measured strain is very sensitive to small experimental error. This sensitivity make it difficult to find out whether the Poisson's ratio varies with time or remain constant, and whether the Poisson's ratio has different value with stress states or not. A new approach method is needed to resolve the discrepancy and obtain reliable results. This paper presents analytical study on multiaxial creep test results. Microplane model as a new approach method is applied to optimally fitting the test data extracted from experimental studies on multiaxial creep of concrete. Double-power law is used as a model to present volumetric and deviatoric creep evolutions on a microplane. Six parameters representing the volumetric and deviatoric compliance functions are determined from regression analysis and the optimum fits accurately describe the test data. Poisson's ratio is calculated from the optimum fits and its value varies with time. Regression analysis is also performed assuming that Poisson's ratio remains constant with time. Four parameters are determined for this condition, and the error between the optimum fits and the test data is slightly larger than that for six parameter regression results. The constant Poisson's ratio with time is obtained from four parameter analysis results and the constant value can be used in practice without serious error.

A Study on the Geoid Height Determination by GPS (GPS에 의한 지오이드고(高) 결정(決定)에 관(關)한 연구(研究))

  • Determining accurate geoid height is very important because it is the basis of the 3-D coordinate transformation and determination of the orthometric height. In this study, for determining the geoid height, bi-linear method grounded on the interpolation method, GPS leveling and OSU91A was applied to the $5km{\times}5km$ area and $60km{\times}60km$ area in the latitude $N\;36^{\circ}{\sim}37^{\circ}$ and the longitude $E\;127^{\circ}{\sim}128^{\circ}$. The results obtained by these methods were compared with conventional leveling data. In case of bi-linear method, it was dependent upon the shape of interpolation network and undulation of ground. If leveling data are satisfactory, GPS leveling is more proper than any other method. Also, it is 62 cm that an average difference of GPS leveling and OSU91A. As a result, in order to determine more precise geoid height, the development of local geoid model is a pressing problem to be solved. The result of the research will provide reference data for settling the 3-D coordinate transformation, and it is expected that it will also be applied to determination of 3-D position.

A Numerical Study for the Atrium Smoke Control by Fire Shutter and Evacuation (방화셔터를 이용한 아트리움 제연과 피난안전에 관한 수치해석 연구)

  • Four fire scenarios, as the cases of fire sizes of 2 MW and 5 MW, and no installation and activation of atrium fire shutter for dormitory building of Daegu 'D college', were developed and fire simulations were run using FDS (ver. 5.5.0) and Pathfinder 2009 programs. By assessing fire and evacuation, the effects of atrium fire shutter and vents on the smoke control of atrium were evaluated and this study also analyzed fire hazard and egress safety for occupants in the dormitory. Fire shutter's preventing smoke transport around atrium was much effective, but smoke layer descended down the design limit of smoke height and kept about 2 m height from the atrium floor in all cases because flow rate through vents was not enough. For the case of 5 MW fire and no fire shutter, fire hazard was higher due to visibility than temperature and allowable egress time to stairwell was short less than 5 seconds for the occupants on the floors of 4F to 7F. For total occupants, egress time out of main doorway was calculated about 136 seconds. It is sure that additional systems improving the performance of smoke control need to be installed for more safe evacuation.

Paleoenvironments in Western Part of the East Sea, Korea, during the Late Quaternary Using Benthic Foraminifera (저서성 유공충에 의한 한국 동해 서부 해역의 제 4기 후반 고해양환경 연구)

  • Analysis of the Late Quaternary benthic foraminifera in the cores from the western part of the East Sea, Korea, indicates several distinct changes in the paleoenvironments during the deposition. The palecology of biofacies of Cores PC-1 from the upper slop and PC-2 from the rise shows several distinct changes in bottom water temperatures during the late Quaternary. The Core PC-4 from the Ulleung Basin generally consists of agglutinated genus, Muiliammina, and anaerobic calcareous genus, Bolivina, in biofacies, suggesting that the anoxic bottom condition was prevailed during the deposition. Benthic foraminiferal rare or barren zones in the Cores indicate the limits of water circulation caused by lower sea-level in the regions during the glacial period through the Late Quaternary. The changes of benthic foraminiferal biofacies reflect temporal and spacial variations in overall bottom environments, such as bottom water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and water circulation pattern. The benthic foraminiferal data can be used to interpret paleoclimatic conditions and predict global sea-level changes, and the results of these studies should be useful to understand the evolutional history of the East Sea through the Late Quaternary.

Development of a Test of Science Inquiry Skills for Elementary School Fifth and Sixth Graders (초등학교 고학년 학생의 과학 탐구능력 측정을 위한 평가 도구 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a valid and reliable evaluating instrument for elementary school fifth and sixth graders. The instrument is developed through R&D procedure, which includes two checks of science specialist and two field trials of the instrument. Evaluating items are content-free for each science inquiry skill. Each science inquiry element is based on SAPA and the 7th curriculum. This study has selected 10 science inquiry skills(observing, classifying, measuring, predicting, inferring, recognizing of a problem, controlling variables, interpreting data, drawing a conclusion, designing an experiment), formulated a clear definition of the elements of science inquiry skills, and established the objectives of evaluation. The content areas are divided into three categories, material and energy, life and environment, and the earth and circulation. Each category contains 10 items. So the instrument consists of 30 items. The content validity of items, objectivity of the scoring keys, and clarity of the items has been checked twice by specialists in science education. At the same time, two field trials were performed to produce the reliability of the instruments, discrimination index, and item difficulty index. The instrument has the content validity is 91.6%, reliability 0.79, objectivity 93.3%, discrimination index 0.30, and item difficulty index 66.1%.

A Study on the Development of Plastic Floater for Solar Power Plant on a Body of Water (수상 태양광 발전을 위한 플라스틱 부유체 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, a floater was developed for a frame-type solar power plant. The floater supports the frame and the solar panels. A finite element analysis was performed to design its shape and thickness, and the floater was manufactured by a rotational molding method using linear low-density polyethylene. It was found that the floater did not cause collapse and it maintained its stiffness even at 4 times the maximum load of 322.7 kgf. To perform a long-term compression test, a weight-type load application device that uses gravity was designed and manufactured. The amount of compressive deformation was measured for 7 days, and a long-term deformation equation was obtained. Even under small loads, continuous deformation was observed. However, the 10-year deformation amount for a constant load of 100 kgf was predicted to be small at about 4.64 mm. As a result, it was found that the developed floater could be used in a solar power plant on a body of water.
