In this study, we have several objectives. First, In spite of a fixed bandwidth waste of reservation channel, we maximize the efficiency of transmission channel by the multiple access algorithm that performs channel reservation and data transmission independently, eliminating the frame structure of transmission channel and reserving it by the slot unit . Second, In order to improve the entire system performance, we accommodate the variation of traffic at each earth station more effectively, and accomplish the stable delay characteristics and the equlity of service #or users. For this purpose, we design the satellite channel that consists of reservation channel and transmission channel which are logically separate and operate Independently. We also design a demand assignment multiple access algorithm based on the satellite channel structure.

The effect of the nonbenzodiazepine anxiolytic, buspirone $(Buspar^R)$, a serotonin $(5-HT)_{1A}$ partial agonist, which also has dopamine $(DA)_2$ receptor antagonist properties, on prolactin and cortisol secretion was examined in eight normal male volunteers. The oral administration of buspirone (30 mg) significantly increased plasma prolactin concentrations but did not significantly increase plasma cortisol concentrations in this study. The oral administration of pindolol (30 mg), a beta adrenoceptor antagonist which is also a $5-HT_{1A}$ receptor antagonist, had no significant effect on basal prolactin or cortisol levels. Moreover, pretreatment with pindolol did not significantly inhibit the buspirone-induced increase in prolactin secretion. These preliminary data are suggestive that buspirone-induced prolactin secretion is not mediated via $5-HT_{1A}$ receptor activation.

Purpose : To assess the prevalence of hyponatremia in epileptic children receiving carbamazepine or oxcarbazpine, we investigate serum sodium changes according to age, serum carbamazepine level, and daily oxcarbazepine dosage, and the prevalence of symptoms of hyponatremia. Methods : We reviewed the clinical data of the 197 children receiving carbamazepine and/or oxcarbazepine with or without antiepileptic therapy. And these were classified into the carbamazepine treated patients (group I), oxcarbazepine treated patients (group II), and carbamzepine or oxcarbazepine with other antiepileptics treated patients (group III). Potentially predictive values for development of hyponatremia were examined in each group: age, plasma level of carbamazepine and daily dosage of oxcarbazepine. We assessed the symptoms of hyponatremia. Results : The overall prevalence of hyponatremia was 20.8% (group I, II and III : 17.9%, 22.6%, and 21.8%, respectively), and the prevalence in groups II and III compared with controls (P<0.03) was significantly lower. The changes of serum sodium levels relation to age were not significantly different. The changes of serum sodium levels by increasing of serum levels of carbamazepine and dosage of oxcarbazepine were statistically significant (P<0.01). Among the 41 patients who had biochemical hyponatremia, the prevalence of hyponatremic symptoms was 17.1%. Conclusion : Hyponatremia may occur relatively more frequently with oxcarbazepine or combined other antiepileptics than carbamzepine therapy only. Age of children receiving carbamazepine or oxcarbazepine was no predictive value for occurrence of hyponatremia. The patients whose serum level were less than 125 mEq/L showed more severe clinical symptoms than any other study groups.

The purpose of this study is to reduce the anxiety factors of fires by following evacuation tips in case of fire in an apartment household. This study analyzed the moderating effects of the control offices' competence in control on safety awareness and fire response. The study results were as follows. First, the residents and control staff's safety awareness had a positive effect on the fire response performance. This indicates that the higher the residents and control staff's safety awareness level, the higher the fire responsive performance. Second, the higher the control offices' control competence level, the better the apartment residents and control staff's safety awareness had a positive effect on the fire response performance. These results indicate that the higher the control office heads' leadership, the higher the apartment residents' housing satisfaction and that the more communicative the control office heads' attitude toward the residents, the better their attitude had a positive effect on the fire response performance. Lastly, the control offices' control competence was analyzed to have a moderating effects on the effect of the apartment residents and control staff's safety awareness level on the fire response performance. These results showed that the change in the model's R2 value showed an increasing trend in stages as the value increased more in the stage 2 than the stage 1 and even more in the stage 3 with the interaction terms of the moderating variables added. For this reason, the control offices' control competence which was a moderating variable was analyzed to have a moderating effect on the effect of residents and control staff's safety awareness level on the fire response performance.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate anti-depressive effects of exercise on child and adolescent and its association with brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Methods: Twenty nine middle school boys (age $13.3{\pm}0.7$) were divided into two groups, 15 boys for control group and 14 in the experimental group. The control group participated in a regular exercise program, 3 times a week for 15 weeks. During the same period, the experimental group participated in an aerobic exercise program specifically designed to enhance anti-depressive effect of exercise. Serum BDNF level and its performance of each group on the Beck Depression Index (BDI), Children's Depression Inventory (CDI), Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED), Aggression Questionnaire (AK-Q), and Stroop task were compared before and after the exercise program. Results: Scores of BDI, CDI, SCARED, and AK-Q were significantly lower in both groups after the exercise programs compared to those before the programs. The Stroop task performances were significantly improved after the programs. However, there were no significant differences between two exercise programs, except SCARED separation anxiety, AK-Q physical, and verbal aggression scores. Also, no association was found between serum BDNF level and anti-depressive effects of exercise. Conclusion: Our preliminary results suggest a possible effect of exercise on depression, anxiety, aggression, and cognition of child and adolescents.

Semi-empirical MO calculations, EHT, CNDO/2, MINDO/3, and MNDO met hods, were performed on various geometries of n-butane, n-alkyl radical and tetramethylene diracal (triplet) in order to compare eigenvalue and eigenvector properties with those obtained by STO-3G method. All methods predicted the same relative order of stabilities of various geometries for n-butane; geometrical preferences were found to be dominated by one-electron factor, ${\pi}$-orbital energy changes being more impotant in the semi-empirical methods. The hyperconjugative energy changes accompanying structural changes from $(n-{\sigma}{\ast})_{trans}$ to (n-{\sigma}{\ast})cis were underestimated in the EHT, CNDO/2 and MINDO/3, whereas those were overestimated in the MNDO. The net destabilizing effect of $(n-{\sigma}{\ast})_{trans}$ structure was mainly due to the large internuclear energy involved in the structure. Through-space interaction between $n_1$ and $n_2$ orbitals of diradical caused energy gap narrowing of ${\Delta}E_{sp}$ and ${\Delta}{\varepsilon}={\varepsilon}_0$-${\varepsilon}_{av}$; through-space interaction had opposing effect to that of through-bond interaction. Due to the less severe neglect of differential overlaps in the MNDO, this energy gap narrowing effect appeared amplified in the MNDO. In general orbital properties were found to be reproduced satisfactorily, but eigenvalue properties were not, in all the semi-empirical methods especially when ${\sigma}-{\sigma}{\ast}$ and n-$n-{\sigma}{\ast}$interactions were involved.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of Cinnamomum cassia Blume (CC) extract on the repair of damaged cartilage in a rat model of osteoarthritis (OA) by anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT) and medial meniscus resection (MMx). Forty-eight rats were assigned to six groups (n = 8 per group): sham as negative control (NC), positive control (PC), diclofenac sodium (DS, 2 mg/kg), CC 25 mg/kg, CC 50 mg/kg and CC 100 mg/kg groups. Treatments were 12 weeks from 7 days after ACLT + MMx. Loss of cartilage and joint instability were significantly reduced in response to treatment with CC or DS compared to the PC (p < 0.05). CC significantly ameliorated cartilage degradation in a dose-dependent manner as assessed by histological findings (p < 0.01). A reduction in the severity of structural changes and a dose-dependent increase in Safranin-O staining intensity were observed in CC treatments, indicating that cartilage degradation was inhibited. Although DS did not affect the increase in active caspase-3 and cleaved poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase-induced apoptosis during the progression of OA, cells reactive to these apoptotic markers were decreased significantly by CC (p < 0.05). However, treatments with CC or DS did not influence the uptake of 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine. The findings suggest that CC can exert a chondroprotective action on OA through anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic properties.
Introduction: Unexpected serious and lethal drug interactions can be occurred by polypharmacy for treatment-resistant psychiatric disorders. We report a case who has suspected upper gastrointestinal bleeding after the combination of clozapine and buspirone. Case : A 69-year-old woman with DSM-IV schizophrenia who was admitted to our hospital had no previous medical problems. Findings on physical exam, laboratory values, EEG, and a magnetic reso-nance imaging scans were no abnormality, except for slightly low level of hemoglobin at admission. Because of aggravating anxiety symptom, a trial of buspirone was begun from 15mg, in addition to olanzapine 30mg. And then olanzapine was switched to clozapine due to her treatment-refractory his-tory and poor response on this admission. Moreover, At the admission 11 weeks later, after 4 weeks of starting buspirone and clozapine, she was placed on a regimen of clozapine 300mg and buspirone 60mg. At this point, she started to complaint nonspecific abdominal pain for 4 days and then hematemesis, melena and hypotension were developed suddenly with negative findings in gastroduodenoscopy. After stopping all medication, the suspected upper gastrointestinal bleeding was subsided. After the regimen was switched back to clozapine only, psychotic symptoms were improved without the recurrence of the adverse events. Conclusion : We concluded that the upper gastrointestinal bleeding in this case was attributed to the drug interaction with clozapine and buspirone, although the definite mechanism is not clear. The clini-cians should be very cautious to prescribe the combination of clozapine and buspirone due to a possible lethal adverse effect.

To investigate the effect of diazepam on the contractility of the intestinal smooth muscle, longitudinal muscle strip isolated from rat ileum was prepared for myography in isolated organ bath. 1) Basal tone of ileal muscle was reduced by diazepam concentration-dependently. 2) Higher concentrations(30 and 100 microM) of diazepam inhibited(p<0.05, p<0.001) the carbachol-induced contraction in a concentration-dependent manner ; but lower concentration of diazepam(10 microM) enhanced(p<0.05). 3) Histamine-induced contraction was inhibited by pretreatment with diazepam in a concentration-dependent manner. 4) $Ca^{++}$-induced tension recovery in calcium-free solution was inhibited in the presence of diazepam concentration-dependently. These results suggest diazepam reduces the contractility of the longitudinal muscle isolated from rat ileum via interference with influx of calcium into the muscle cells.
Recent studies reported that obesity upregulated the expression of neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) and regulated particular behavior patterns in animal models. They also reported that ameliorated the increase in nNOS expression and decreased depression and anxiolytic effects. Thus, exercise seems to be an effective strategy for improving brain function by downregulating nNOS. However, the immune response differs greatly, depending on the exercise intensity. The aim of the present study was to investigate differences in brain nNOS expression in obese C57BL/6 mice that performed exercise of different intensities. Obesity was induced in 6-wks-old mice (n=35) by feeding a 60%-fat diet for 6-wks. A control (CON) group (n=14) was fed a normal diet. At the end of the induction 6-wks period of obesity, seven animals in the CON group and obesity-induced group were sacrificed to confirm obesity induction (preliminary experiments and confirmation of visceral fat accumulation). The remaining animals were then used in an 8-wks exercise intervention. Other than the CON (n=7), the obesity-induced animals were divided into the following groups: high-fat diet (HFD, n=7), HFD-low intensity (HFD-LI, n=7, 12 m/min for 75 min), HFD-moderate intensity (HFD-MI, n=7, 15 m/min for 60 min), and HFD-high intensity (HFD-HI, n=7, 18 m/min for 50 min). The exercise was performed on an animal treadmill. The expression of the nNOS protein in the hippocampus was significantly higher in the HFD group as compared with that in the CON group (p<0.01). However, there was no difference in the hippocampal expression of the nNOS protein in the other exercise groups as compared with that in the CON group. In contrast, nNOS expression in the HFD-HI group was significantly lower than that in the HFD-LI group (p<0.05). The expression of phosphorylated Akt (pAkt) was significantly higher in all the exercise groups as compared with that in the CON and HFD groups. There was no difference in the expression of pAkt in the cerebral cortex among groups, and the expression of pAkt in the cerebellum was significantly higher in the HFD-HI group as compared with that in the CON group (p<0.05). There were also no between-group differences in pAkt expression in the cerebellum among the various exercise groups. In conclusion, nNOS seems to be overexpressed in response to obesity, and it appears to be downregulated by exercise. Relatively high-intensity exercise may be effective in improving brain function by downregulating nNOS.
