  • Complicated business logic makes program complexity more complicated. It's inevitable that the program must undergo reengineering processes all the way of in its lifetime. Hot spot analysis that has diverse purposes is getting an important question more and more. As a rule, reengineering process is done by UML model-based approach to analyze the legacy system. The smallest fragment of targets to be analysed is unit, that is function or class. Today's software development is to deal with huge change of software product and huge class including heavy quantity of LOC(Lines Of Code). However, analysis of unit is not precise approach process for reliable reengineering consequence. In this paper, we propose very precise hot spot analysis approach using Aspect-Oriented Programming languages, such as AspectJ. Typically the consistency between UML and source is needed code to redefine the modified library or framework boundaries. But reengineering approach using AOP doesn't need to analyze UML and source code. This approach makes dynamic event log data that contains detailed program interaction information. This dynamic event log data makes it possible to analyze hot spot.

  • For systems with coexisting cellular and hot-spot cells in broadband orhogonal frequency and code division multiplexing (OFCDM) systems, a suitable cell search algorithm is proposed fur the common pilot channel (CPICH) in the forward link using separated I/Q channel cell specific codes(CSSC), in which the cellular cell specific scrambling code (CCSSC) is assigned to the in-phase (Q) pilot channel of all cellular cells, and the exclusive hot-spot cell specific scrambling code (HSCSSC) group is assigned to the quadrature (Q) pilot channel of all hot-spot cells. Therefore, the proposed algorithm enables a mobile station (MS) to search quickly for the most desirable hot-spot cell due to reducing the effect of CCSSC, when a MS wants to use a mobile internet. The computer simulation results show that the proposed cell search algorithm can achieve faster cell search time performance, compared to conventional cell search methods.

  • In epidemiology or etiology, we are often interested in identifying areas of elevated risk, so called, hot spot or cluster. Many existing clustering methods only tend to a result if there exists any clustering pattern in study area. Recently, however, lots of newly introduced clustering methods can identify the location, size, and shape of clusters and test if the clusters are statistically significant as well. In this paper, one of most commonly used clustering methods, scan statistic, and its implementation SaTScan software, which is freely available, will be introduced. To exemplify the usage of SaTScan software, we used cancer data from the SEER program of National Cancer Institute of U.S.A.We aimed to help researchers and practitioners, who are interested in spatial cluster detection, using female lung cancer mortality data of the SEER program.
