Unsteady Modeling for River Bank Infiltration Flow (하천 제방 침투 흐름의 비정상 모델링)

  • 이 연구는 일본식 배수공이 설치된 제방의 침투 흐름을 비정상 상태로 SEEP/W 모형을 사용하여 해석하고 모형의 적용성을 평가하기 위해 수행하였다. 수치모형의 적용성 평가를 위해 비정상 상태로 제방 침투에 대한 수리모형실험을 수행하였다. 제체 재료는 경상북도 구미시에 위치한 해평천의 제방 건설 현장의 재료를 사용하였고 일본식배수공은 굵은 골재와 부직포를 사용하여 실험실에 제방 축소 모형을 수조 내부에 제작하였다. 모형제방은 제방축조 방법과 유사하게 다짐을 하기 위해 흙을 쌓으면서 0.20 m 높이마다 다짐을 실시하였다. 다짐방법은 고무망치를 이용한 층다짐을 하였다. 제방 제외지에 0.55 cm/min의 속도로 수위를 증가하여 15분 간격으로 각 0.3 m, 0.4 m, 0.5 m 수위에 따른 비정상 상태의 위압계 측정을 수행하였다. SEEP/W 모형의 매개변수는 투수계수와 입도분포도, 불포화 함수특성곡선(값을 산정하기 어려움)이 있으며, 각 매개변수에 대한 민감도 분석을 수행하였다. SEEP/W 모형의 모의 결과는 수리모형실험 결과와 비교적 잘 일치함을 알 수 있었다.

Development of Safety Performance Function Based on Expressway Alignment Homogeneous Section (고속도로 선형 동질구간 기반의 안전성능함수 개발)

  • In the past, expressways focused on mobility. However, the paradigm of expressways fuction today has been changed from fast expressways to safe expressways as people's quality of living and consciousness level heightened. In 2012, 3,550 traffic accidents occurred on expressways and 371 people died. The fatality rate of traffic accidents on expressways is almost twice that on general national roads. This study developed accident forecast models (safety performance functions) based on the number of traffic accidents and traffic volumes on six major lines on expressways. It is difficult to forecast safety performance functions for each expressway line because the lines and the scales of expressways are different from each other; therefore, integrated safety performance functions of six lines were determined first, and the coefficients, which can correct the traffic accidents on each line, were calculated. It is believed that this study will contribute in the safer management of expressways by being used as basic information in the establishment of traffic safety strategies for each expressway line in prevention of traffic accidents. Moreover, more studies would be required in the future, which would suggest reliable accident forecasts by calculating correction coefficients by line through integrated models by groups dependent on the characteristics of each line.

A comparison on coefficient estimation methods in single index models (단일지표모형에서 계수 추정방법의 비교)

  • It is well known that the asymptotic convergence rates of nonparametric regression estimator gets worse as the dimension of covariates gets larger. One possible way to overcome this problem is reducing the dimension of covariates by using single index models. Two coefficient estimation methods in single index models are introduced. One is semiparametric least square estimation method, which tries to find approximate solution by using iterative computation. The other one is weighted average derivative estimation method, which is non-iterative method. Both of these methods offer the parametric convergence rate to normal distribution. However, practical comparison of these two methods has not been done yet. In this article, we compare these methods by examining the variances of estimators in various models.

  • A three-dimensional numerical model of surface buoyant jets with variable density was established. The model uses fully nonlinear, time-dependent, three-dimensional, ${\sigma}$-transformed equations of motion and equation of heat transport. A semi-implicit numerical scheme in time has been adopted for computational efficiency. The model was applied for thermal jets discharging into a stagnant water and the simulated results were compared with a hydraulic experimental data set showing good agreement. Comparative studies of exchange coefficients and stability functions indicated that spatial variation of exchange coefficients should be considered and the existing stability functions should be modified to simulate surface buoyant jets accurately.

  • An analytical model of undertow is presented in the surf zone. Each term of the derived governing equation is evaluated by the ordering methods. Then the turbulent normal stresses and the streaming velocity terms are neglected. The driving force of undertow is derived from the wave profile which is approximated by the 4th order Chebyshev polynomials. The three types of vertical distribution of eddy viscosity are assumed and the coefficient of eddy viscosity is decided from the new boundary condition. So the input parameters for the calculation of undertow become very simple. The theoretical solutions of the present model are compared with the various experimental results. This model shows a good agreement with the experimental results in the case of mild slope and linear type eddy viscosity.

  • 초음파를 사과의 비파괴 품질판정에 이용하기 위한 기초연구로서 계측된 저장기간에 따른 사과의 초음파 특성과 본 연구에서 계측된 사과의 기계적 특성을 이용하여 초음파에 의한 사과의 탄성계수 및 생물체항복강도 예측모델을 개발하고자 하였으며, 결론은 다음과 같다. 1. UTM을 이용하여 사과의 기계적 특성치를 분석하여 생물체항복점, 생물체항복변형량, 생물체항복강도, 파괴점, 극한변형량, 극한강도 및 탄성계수 등을 구하였다. 2. 사과의 기본 물성, 초음파 특성과 기계적 특성값 들을 분석한 결과 사과의 질량, 체적, 시간영역의 진폭(PTP), 제3영역 에너지 스펙트럼 밀도함수가 기계적 특성 중 생물체항복강도, 탄성계수와 높은 상관성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 3. 사과의 저장 기간, 질량, 체적, Peak-to-peak, 제3영역의 에너지값 등 5개의 독립변수를 가지는 다중선형회귀모형으로 사과의 탄성계수 및 생물체 항복강도 예측모형을 개발하였다.

Variable Selection in Frailty Models using FrailtyHL R Package: Breast Cancer Survival Data (frailtyHL 통계패키지를 이용한 프레일티 모형의 변수선택: 유방암 생존자료)

  • Determining relevant variables for a regression model is important in regression analysis. Recently, a variable selection methods using a penalized likelihood with various penalty functions (e.g. LASSO and SCAD) have been widely studied in simple statistical models such as linear models and generalized linear models. The advantage of these methods is that they select important variables and estimate regression coefficients, simultaneously; therefore, they delete insignificant variables by estimating their coefficients as zero. We study how to select proper variables based on penalized hierarchical likelihood (HL) in semi-parametric frailty models that allow three penalty functions, LASSO, SCAD and HL. For the variable selection we develop a new function in the "frailtyHL" R package. Our methods are illustrated with breast cancer survival data from the Medical Center at Chonnam National University in Korea. We compare the results from three variable-selection methods and discuss advantages and disadvantages.

  • This paper is described as an experimental analysis for the probabilistic directional design hour volume estimation. The main objective of this paper is to derive acceptable design rankings, PK factors, and PD factors. In order to determine an appropriate distribution for acceptable design rankings, 12 probability distribution functions were employed. The parameters were estimated based on the method of maximum likelihood. The goodness of fit test was performed with a Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. The Beta General distribution among the probability distributions was selected as an appropriate model for 2 lane roadways. On the other hand, the Weibull distribution is superior for 4 lanes. The method of the inverse cumulative distribution function came up with an acceptable design ranking of design for LOS D. An acceptable design ranking of 2 lanes is 190, while an acceptable design ranking for 4 lanes is 164. The PK factor and PD factor of 2 lanes was elicited for 0.119 (0.100-0.139) and 0.568 (0.545-0.590), respectively. On the other hand, the PK factor and PD factor for 4 lanes was elicited as 0.106 (0.097-0.114) and 0.571 (0.544-0.598), respectively.

The Comparative Study of NHPP Software Reliability Model Based on Log and Exponential Power Intensity Function (로그 및 지수파우어 강도함수를 이용한 NHPP 소프트웨어 무한고장 신뢰도 모형에 관한 비교연구)

  • Software reliability in the software development process is an important issue. Software process improvement helps in finishing with reliable software product. Infinite failure NHPP software reliability models presented in the literature exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing failure occurrence rates per fault. In this paper, proposes the reliability model with log and power intensity function (log linear, log power and exponential power), which made out efficiency application for software reliability. Algorithm to estimate the parameters used to maximum likelihood estimator and bisection method, model selection based on mean square error (MSE) and coefficient of determination($R^2$), for the sake of efficient model, was employed. Analysis of failure, using real data set for the sake of proposing log and power intensity function, was employed. This analysis of failure data compared with log and power intensity function. In order to insurance for the reliability of data, Laplace trend test was employed. In this study, the log type model is also efficient in terms of reliability because it (the coefficient of determination is 70% or more) in the field of the conventional model can be used as an alternative could be confirmed. From this paper, software developers have to consider the growth model by prior knowledge of the software to identify failure modes which can be able to help.

Analysis of Fatigue Truck Model for LRFD Code (LRFD 설계기준(안) 피로설계트럭 모형 분석)

  • A reliability analysis of the fatigue failure of highway steel bridges was performed by applying the Miner's fatigue damage rule for the fatigue design truck proposed for the LRFD code and for the current DB 24 truck. The limit state function for fatigue failure is expressed as a function of various random variables that affect fatigue damage. Among these variables, the statistical parameters for the equivalent moment, the impact factor, and the loadometer were obtained by analyzing recently measured domestic traffic data, and the parameters for the fatigue strength, the girder distribution factor, and the headway factor were obtained from the measured data reported in literature. Based on the reliability analysis, the fatigue truck model for the LRFD code was proposed. After applying the proposed fatigue truck to the LRFD code, 16 composite plate and box girder bridges were designed based on the LRFD method, and the LRFD design results for the fatigue limit state were compared with those by the current KHBDC.
