We have investigated the 6th middle school science curriculum and its implementation based upon the results of middle school science teachers' and professors' ratings and self-reportings. The national-wide survey was administrated to obtain the data from 213 teachers of 112 middle schools and 43 professors of colleges of education. The survey items correspond to four stages of science curriculum. In the stage of the planned science curriculum, 'goals', 'framework of contents' and 'contents' are relevant to the basic guideline for curriculum revision, 'the more emphasis on inquiry activities'. However, the amount of contents is not appropriate, and 'methods' are difficult to attain. In the stage of the written science curriculum, 'goals', 'framework of contents', 'contents', 'methods' and 'evaluations' are not useful for teachers to teach science. In the stage of the implemented science curriculum, a small number of teachers use the issues of local community, organize the different group activities, develop assessment tools cooperatively, and conduct a lesson and a program considering students' diversities. This is partially because of the large amount of learning contents, the lack of materials and the weakness of supporting system. Finally, in the stage of the attained science curriculum, the students' achievements under the 6th curriculum is not higher than those under the other curricula.

In 1937, most Korean compatriot who lived in Yunhaeju moved to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in Central Asia following the deportation policy of Russia. Korean compatriot have kept their traditional life style for 140 years, without a deep relationship with Korea. This study examined the heating systems of Korean compatriot in Yunhaeju, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Russia. A literature review and field research, based on Ethnography as a research method, was employed. The results of the research were as following: 1) Korean compatriot in Yunhaeju use a Pechika, which is a radiator that uses hot water, and a Gudul as the main heating systems, but the use of a Pechika was most common. A Pechika functions for cooking as well as for warming the house. The room with the Gudul was connected to the kitchen, so this space was used as a place for cooking and eating, for family members to meet. Many kinds of fuel, like gas and electricity, were used to power the heating systems. 2) Korean compatriot in Kazakhstan use radiators, with hot water as the main heating system, with ratio using Gudul used in this region being the highest of all the three areas. The most common fuels used for a Gudul were wood and coal, and gas was also used in cooking. The room with the Gudul was planned to be located beside the fireplace, without any walls. The people using a Gudul use that place for eating and meeting, as well as for family members to sleep. 3) The main heating system of Korean compatriot in Uzbekistan was a radiator using hot water, and those with pipes containing hot water buried under the floor were very common. The function is very similar to that of a Gudul, so most people using this type of radiator would sleep on the floor. Those people with a traditional Gudul not using them were mostly in Uzbekistan. The reason for this was that the family members had diminished, so it was hard work for elderly parents to manage an extra building containing a Gudul. Gas was the fuel generally used for heating and cooking in Uzbekistan. 4) Guduls were used in the Korean compatriot's houses in all three areas, even though they have changed in structure to adapt to the Russian life style. However, Guduls have still been functioning to maintain a traditional life style in Korean compatriot's houses for the gathering of family members.

This study analyzed current prehospital emergency care for severe trauma patients administered by different number of 119 EMS (emergency medical services) teams. Out of 1,067 severe trauma patients transferred by 119 EMS teams in J province from January 1st to December 31st 2015, 438 were evaluated in this study. IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0 was used to analyze collected data. The number of patients with severe trauma during the period of study was higher in male with two and three ambulance crews of 119 EMS teams with 242 patients (70.6%) and 66 patients (69.5%) respectively. The percentage of transfers made to local emergency medical centers was highest in those two groups, being 44.0% (151 patients) and 49.5% (47 patients), respectively. Total time spent at the scene did not differ between ambulance crews of two and three, nor did the frequency of practicing advanced airway management and IV (intravenous) cannulation, or the success rate of IV cannulation (p=0.253, p=0.362, p=1.000). Overall, the results indicated that merely increasing the number of paramedics does not improve the quality of prehospital care for severe trauma patients. Measures such as securing professional paramedics, simplifying direct medical oversights, activating indirect medical oversights, and expanding the legally allowed work scope are required.

A Mobile Radio Wave Measurement System (MRWMS)is a vehicle-mounted system designed to be operating in a single mission. The mission characteristic for mobile measurement requires mobility. For this, we must consider the arrangement and embedded method of MRWMS's antennas. In this paper, we described the measurement method design of direction detecting accuracy for MRWMS and designed the direction finding antenna mast capable of rotating itself by using a slip ring without turntable for Direction Finding (DF) accuracy test. As we removed the dependency of a limited local area by designing a measurement method of direction detecting accuracy, Equipment Under Test (EUT) zero-Adjustment and mounted process shortened. So, we the reduced production costs. We expect an improved cable loss value by shortening the RF cable length in accordance with our design. In addition, due to the same phenomenon, the entire system is lighter and the mobility is improved.

Lespedeza cuneata G. Don is an edible perennial herb used in traditional Korean medicine. We investigated the anti-proliferative properties and mechanism of L. cuneata extract. The ethanolic extract of L. cuneata dose-and time-dependently inhibited human colorectal cancer cell proliferation. A 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay was used to test the effect of the extract on proliferation of HT-29 colorectal cancer cells. The extract inhibited HT-29 cell proliferation with an $IC_{50}$ value of $554.26{\pm}8.81{\mu}g/mL$. L. cuneata extract suppressed production of pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis $factor-{\alpha}$. Apoptosis was evaluated by analysis of DNA fragmentation, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase cleavage, caspase-3 activity, and protein expression of pro-apoptotic (Bax) and anti-apoptotic (Bcl-2). Our results demonstrated that the extract induced DNA fragmentation and characteristic morphological changes associated with apoptosis in HT-29 colorectal cancer cells. The extract also time- and dose-dependently up-regulated expression of the Bax and down-regulated expression of the Bcl-2. Furthermore, the extract dose- and time-dependently enhanced caspase-3 activity. Our findings provide evidence that L. cuneata extract may mediate its anti-proliferative effect via modulation of apoptosis.
This study analyzed key success factors of Korean car-sharing enterprises, Socar and Greencar, and the responsive strategies of Korean car-manufacturing company, Hyundai Motor Group, in the face of emerging sharing economy under the specific economic and regulatory system in Korea. The outcomes of the analysis are as follows. 'Timely market entry' in early startup phase and 'use of external resources' in early growth phase were key success factors common to both Socar and Greencar. However, the differences in the eventual business directions of the two companies also resulted in different key success factors in the expansion phase of their business. For Socar which focused on maintaining its independence and the external growth of B2C business, customer relation marketing and sufficient capital raising were key success factors. For Greencar which became a part of a business group and focused on improving the efficiency of business operations, timely market entry (B2B market) was key success factor. The use of external resources and cooperation with large corporations emerged as key success factors common to both companies in the rapid growth phase. The responsive strategies of the Hyundai Motor Group were collaboration, investment and direct management of DeliveryCar. The short-term goal of the responsive strategy was the operation of test-bed in collaboration with car-sharing company while the mid/long term goal was planning new mobility services by utilizing collected data. Securing opportunities for early market dominance for autonomous car industry was also found to be an important goal.
We investigated experimentally the properties of dust explosion through lycopodium particle clouds in a duct to provide the fundamental knowledge. Propagating dust flames in the vertical duct of 120 cm height and 12 cm square cross-section were observed by digital video camera and flame front is visualized using by PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry) system. As the result, when the same average dust concentration existed in the vertical duct, downward flame propagation was faster than the upward flame propagation, its rate increased with dust concentration in 300g/$m^3$. Post flames were caused by the ignition of unburned particles which flowed into the rear region of flame from passage between flame and duct wall, and they generated regardless of duct condition. Also, it was found that appearance frequency of post flames during dust flame propagations increased with the increase of dust concentration.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of drying and extraction methods on antioxidant activity and total phenol content of Gnaphalium affine D. DON (GA). Hot-air, shade-drying, and freeze-drying were used for drying, after which magnetic stirring and ultrasonification were applied. Extracting solvents were water, 80% ethanol, and 80% methanol. Total phenol content was highest in 80% ethanol extract of freeze-dried and stirred GA. Total flavonoid content was highest in 80% methanol extract of freeze-dried and stirred GA. 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity was higher in 80% methanol and 80% ethanol extracts than in water extract. 2,2-Azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical scavenging activity was highest in 80% ethanol extract of shade-dried and ultrasonicated GA. Reducing power was generally higher in 80% methanol extract than in 80% ethanol and water extracts of GA. Total phenol and total flavonoid contents were highly correlated with DPPH radical scavenging activity and reducing power, respectively. This result implies that the antioxidant activity of GA can be attributed to phenol compounds such as flavonoids. Conclusively, phenol compounds such as flavonoids are responsible for the antioxidant activity of GA, and there was no significant effect of drying and stirring conditions on antioxidant activity of 80% ethanol. Meanwhile, DPPH radical scavenging activity of water extract and reducing power of 80% methanol extract were higher in hot-air and shade-dried GAs than in freeze-dried GA.

The combining process of UV irradiation and H$_2$O$_2$ was used to investigate characteristics of cefaclor decomposition in the aquatic environment. The separate mixing tank was used to minimize the decreasing effective of contact area caused by sampling. Four baffles were installed inside the UV reactor for the complete mixing of the sample and outside of the reactor was wrapped with aluminum foil to protect the emission of photon energy. Production of OH radical was measured using pCBA(p-Chlorobenzoic acid) indirectly and rate constants were withdrawn pseudo-frist order reaction. Optimum condition for the maximum production of OH radical was found to be pH 3, hydrogen peroxide of 5 mmol/L and recirculation rate of 400 mL/min. Pseudo-frist order reaction rate constant was 0.1051 min$^{-1}$. In the optimum condition, cefaclor was completely decomposed within 40 min and rate constant was 0.093 min$^{-1}$. Decomposition by OH radical producted intermediate anions such as chloride, nitrate, sulfite and acetic acid and phenylglycine. After 6 hr most cefaclor was decomposed by UV/H$_2$O$_2$ process and converted to CO$_2$ and H$_2$O, resulting of operation in the decrease of TOC and acetic acid and the disappearance of phenylglycine.

This study was performed to identify the proper analytical conditions of endotoxins regarding optical density in the workplace where metalworking fluids are used. This study found that "onset time method" was more accurate than "time to $V_{max}$ method". Reproducibility and accuracy analyzed by "onset time method" was greatly higher than the "time to $V_{max}$". The optical density of "0.03" was the most appropriate analytical condition among "onset time method". In this analytical condition, linearity of 0.998 was obtained and recovery rate ranged from 88% to 105% at the endotoxin concentrations below 5 EU/mL. No significant difference of endotoxins was observed between the optical densities of "0.03" and "0.05". However, correlation coefficients were different with statistical significance (p<0.01). This study confirmed that either the optical densities "0.03" or "0.05" should be used to analyze endotoxin. Of these optical density values, OD with correlation coefficient higher than 0.98 should be used to analyze endotoxin in environmental samples.
