As we enter the 21st century, the Information Era, we are making a national effort to digitalize the information resources of Korean Studies, based on our leading digital technology. However, there is much difficulty of computerizing Chinese characters used in Korea, China, and Japan, with the of technologies developed by the West. This paper gives an example of how to register and process the Newly found ideographs(新出漢字) put forth by Digitalization of Knowledge information resource on Korean oriental medicine.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to apply informations related to herbal medicines to IDMP (Identification of Medicinal Products), an ISO standards related to medicinal products substances, for systematic collection of data through the integration of informations on distribution, manufacturing, and management of herbal medicines. Methods : By analyzing ISO 11238 and ISO/TS 19844, elements that can be used in the information model of herbal medicine were derived from the identification of medicinal products information model on substances. The labeling specified in the safety and quality control regulations for herbal medicines was mapped to the IDMP information model, and ginseng was applied as an example. Results : Herbal medicine corresponded to substance in IDMP. Among the five types of substances specified by IDMP, herbal medicines were expressed as structurally diverse. Scientific name was used as an invariant property of herbal medicine, and the substance level included information about source material and modification, and specifically included information about the scientific name, medicinal part, fraction, and processing. In addition, the specified substance level had information on the constituents, characteristic attributes, manufacturing, and grade of the herbal medicine. Conclusions : It is necessary to establish a code system for identifying herbal medicines. In order to apply the IDMP standards, research on the development of standard terms is required to express the characteristics of herbal medicines. In addition, information for identification of herbal medicines is also required, and information from production to consumption should be systematically accumulated and managed for actual application.

From th Study on A Study on the Thesaurus of Korean medical information for developing search engine, the conclusion is as follow. Knowledge based information system consists of concepts, facts and relation. The final goal of developing the Knowledge based information system is to select, store and control the knowledge and information of Oriental Medicine. Considering limitation of organizing the knowledge system, it is difficult to realize complete basic system and application method. In order to work, it is necessary to combine experts in each part, for example Domain experts, Information and Knowledge engineer. Through the development of knowledge based information system, we can construct EMR(Electronic Medical Record) system in the near future, and it is possible to make semi-expert system. To make Knowledge based information system, we need to establish standards of information that make the distribution of Knowledge and information easily.

With the development of genomics, wearable device and IT/NT, a vast amount of bio-medical data are generated recently. Also, healthcare industries based on big-data are booming and big-data technology based on bio-medical data is rising rapidly as a core technology for improving the national health and aged society. Also, oriental medicine research is focused with modern research technology and validate it's various biochemical effect by combining with molecular biology technology. However there are few searching system for finding biochemical mechanism which is related to major compounds in oriental medicine. Therefore, in this paper, we collected papers related with medical herbs from PubMed and constructed a medical herbs database to store and manage chemical, gene/protein and biological interaction information extracted by a literature analysis on the papers. Also, to supporting a multidimensional analysis on the database, we developed a network analysis system based on a hierarchy structure of chemical, gene/protein and biological interaction information. Finally, we expect this system will be used the major tool to discover various biochemical effect by combining with molecular biology technology.

Currently, there are about 20,000 or so known ancient medical texts from the East Asian medical traditions. Although the most famous texts are widely known, many texts still exist only as original manuscripts. We are interested exploring these texts to uncover the potential benefits of their therapeutic knowledge. This study aims to develop a database program that automatically converts the treatment skills described in the text version into a more structured version. In the previous study, our team analyzed patterns in the way that treatment skills are described and then tried to design a database program algorithm that identified every meaningful keyword used to describe treatment skills and put that word in the right cell of a structured table. This study continues the development of this program. East Asian medical herbal treatment information is broken down into 4 elements: the first one is the name or title of treatment skills, and the second is the symptoms to which the treatment is applied, the third is ingredients used, the fourth is how information is processed and the indications taken. This study presents the algorithm's principles on how to analyze and structure the fourth element, the processing of information and taking of indications, which is described in a form of ancient natural language.

Objectives: We propose a method to model and represent formulas in Korean medicine information systems. Methods: All the formulas were codified in the form of graphs representing the relationship between a formula and its constituents. To identify a unique formula in a graph, the formula's name, the book in which the formula was written, the book where the formula was extracted, and the page number in the extracted book are used. All the formulas and the relationship between formulas are modelled as an ontology based on graphs. Results: A formula search system was constructed using our ontology, which can represent formula information efficiently by grouping and filtering of formulas. Our formula model was also constructed as a mobile application. Conclusions: The information in our formula search system depends on our ontology. However, our model or our search scenarios could be extended according to formula information.

The Korean Medicine Information has recently started due to lack of understanding and budgets. In this paper, the active region of Korean Medicine Information from outstanding cases in Korea and the trends of other nations was surveyed. As a results we found the problems that the available data is insufficient, the quality of data is not good and the unification of data is not easy from the analysis of information status and suggested the new directions. we suggest that Korea Medicine Information Center should be established to unify the information from Korea Medicine Organizations and to build information gathering network. we also suggest that well-organized information projects must be carried out in leadership of it from unified point of view. we mentioned the effects of Korea Medicine Information Center establishment.

In oriental medicine, it is rare to recommend the same herbal medicine to other patients because it is very effective in using a certain medicine for a patient with a certain disease. Because the same prescription works well for some people, but very bad results for some people. In order to solve this problem, we developed an algorithm that automatically recommends medicinal products when the patient biometric and Sasang constitution information are selected in the web program. Moreover, in this paper, it developed SWproducts to automatically determine the patients' constitution.

Lingshu, discusses acupuncture therapy in great detail. And there are many aspects in the book devoted to acupuncture, especially acupuncture description is rather and more organized. The book establishes the theory of meridians which explains the roots of meridians in details, and points out the location of acupoints and describes the standard of how to locates acupoints, sets forth nine kinds of needles and their uses. It lays thetheoretical foundation of Korean Medicine. This article could help improve the understanding of the blood-letting therapy in "Lingshu" and also paves the way for applying the therapy to treatment of the various diseases.
