  • This paper deals with the operational characteristics of the three-phase modified bridge type fault current limiter(FCL) for 3.3kV/200A power system. This is a preliminary step to develop the FCL's faculties for an application to high voltage transmission line. A three-phase modified bridge type FCL consists of transformers, diodes, and a high-Tc superconducting coil. As the results of simulations, when the FCL of 1.5H inductance was installed in the power system. the fault current was reduced to be about 90% of that without FCL.

  • The application of fault current limiter(FCL) reduces power system fault current for circuit breaker to operate properly due to reduced fault current. Also FCL reduces through fault current to the power system equipments. But FCL has changed power system parameters for short time, before application the magnitude of register, triggering current and protective relay coordination have to be studied. In this paper we will examine protective relay coordination with FCL. And propose better solution to assist improving of power system operation through the application of FCL.

  • To prevent fault effect in supply of electric power distribution system and plan stable operation of electric power system, must control magnitude of fault current. Although there are various kinds of method to solvethis, approached from super conductivity Fault Current Limiter application viewpoint among them. High Temperature Superconductor-Fault Current Limiter (HTS-FCL) development is progressing according to HTS technology development, and system application is tried. For actual system application of such super conductivity FCL, so that can reflect special quality of actuality supply of electric power distribution system just as it is in this treatise supply of electric power system by two modelling do. Also, by simulation of HTS-FCL action and protection coordination with another equipment appliances, verified the effectiveness in supply of electric power system applying itself super conductivity FCL EMTDC dynamic characteristic model that is develope.

  • This paper deals with simulation of the three-phase dc reactor type fault current limiter(FCL). This is a preliminary step to develop the FCL's faculties for an application to high voltage transmission line. A three-phase dc reactor type FCL consists of transformers, diodes, and a superconducting coil. By this simulation for the short-circuit test we can investigate the safety of FCL's elements. And, result of simulation will contribute parameter toward optimal design.

  • Nowadays, one of the serious problems in KEPCO system is the larger fault current than the SCC(Short Circuit Capacity) of circuit breaker. There are many alternatives to reduce the increased fault current such as isolations of bus ties, enhancement of SCC of circuit breaker, applications of HVDC-BTB(Back to Back) and FCL(fault current limiter). However, these alternatives have some drawbacks in viewpoints of system stability and cost. As the superconductivity technology has been developed, the HTS-FCL(High Temperature Superconductor-Fault Current Limiter) can be one of the attractive alternatives to solve the fault current problem. Under this background, this paper presents the EMTDC model for resistive type HTS-FCL considering the nonlinear characteristic of final resistance value when quenching Phenomena occur.

  • Nowadays, one of the serious problems in KEPCO system is large fault current which exceeds the SCC(Short Circuit Capacity) of circuit breaker, As the superconductivity technology has been developed, the HTS-FCL(High Temperature Superconductor-Fault Current Limiter) can be one of the attractive alternatives to solve the fault current problem. However, the parameters of HTS-FCL should be designed optimally to have a best performance. Under this background, this paper presents the optimal design method of parameters for resistive type HTS-FCL using stochastic analysis technique.

  • As the load density of KEPCO system is higher, the fault current can be much higher than SCC(Short Circuit Capacity) of circuit breaker. Fault current exceeding the rating of circuit breaker is a very serious problem in high density load area, which can threaten the stability of whole power system. Even though there are several alternatives to reduce fault current, as the superconductivity technology has been developed, the HTS-FCL (High Temperature Superconductivity Fault Current Limiter) can be one of the attractive alternatives to solve the fault current problem. This study presents the application plication of 154kV HTS-FCL in Korean power system.

  • 현재의 전력계통은 날로 커지고 복잡해지고 있으며 이에 따라 계통의 사고발생 시 고장전류도 크게 증가하고 있다. 따라서 된 논문에서는 사고 시 큰 고장 전류를 신속하게 제거하기 위한 방법으로 한류기를 적용하고 그에 따른 계통에서의 영향을 평가하였다. 또한 계통에서 한류기의 영향을 평가하기 위해서 EMTP-RV(Electro Magnetic Transients Program - Restructured Version)론 이용하여 한류기가 투입된 22.9kV급 배전계통에서 1선 지락고장이 발생하였을 경우, 상전도 및 초전도 전류기의 특성에 따른 배전계통의 영향을 모의시험 하였으며 그 결과를 분석하였다.

  • When electric power systems expand and become more interconnected, the fault current levels increase in the distribution system. Therefore, we studied the influence of the power system according to application of a resistive FCL. In this paper, the distribution system and the resistive FCL were modeled by using EMTP (Electromagnetic Transients Program), which simulates the effect of the resistive FCL for the single line ground fault in distribution system.
