  • Twenty five specimens (40.8~58.4 mm SL) of Gymnogobius taranetzi (Family Gobiidae) were collected from the estuary of Samcheok-si and Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do, Korea. This species is distinguished from other Gymnogobius species by oculoscapular canals not extending anteriorly through interorbital space, but replaced by rows of sensory papillae; oculoscapular canal pore C is absent; some yellow bands on body in female with breeding color. The new Korean name "Dong-hae-nal-mang-duk" is proposed for this species.

  • Two unrecorded species (Sceptridium atrovirens and S. microphyllum), previously known only in Japan, were found in a forest in Dosun-dong, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do for the first time in Korea. S. atrovirens was distinguished from other related species of the genus Sceptridium in Korea by having the thickest rhizome and root, irregularly crenulate or roughly serrate, and a shorter sporophore blade. The local name was newly given as 'Sup-go-sa-ri-sam' for the species, denoting the habitat. S. microphyllum was distinguished by having the smallest plant height, compact sterile blades, and partly lateritious tropophyll in winter. The local name was newly given as 'Aegi-go-sa-ri-sam' for species, meaning of a small size. To reveal the interspecific relationships within the genus Sceptridium in Korea, cladistic analysis was performed for 27 morphological characteristics. The morphological characteristics and illustrations of the two taxa, as well as photographs at the habitat, are provided with a taxonomic key to the species of Sceptridium in Korea.

  • A monogenean gill parasite, Prosomicrocotyla gotoi, and a digenean intestinal fluke. Opecoelus sphaericus, were found from greenilngs (Hexagrammos otakii) captured at the Korean southern sea. P. gotoi was characterized by having two separated frills of opisthaptor and distinguished from P. chirii in testis and clamp numbers. O. sphaericus had three pairs of finger-like marginal appendages on the ventral sucker and the parasite was distinguished from O. nipponicus in the location pattern of testes. These two helminth species were the first recording species in Korea.

  • In a faunal survey of the Gelechiidae (Lepidoptera: Gelechioidea) from Is. Ulleung-do in the East Sea of Republic of Korea, one species of Gelechiidae, Bagdadia gnomia Ponomaranko, is reported for the first time from Korea and an unknown species of the genus Bryotropa was discovered. In addition, eight species of Gelechiidae including a little known species, Dichomeris anisacuminata Li & Zheng, were first recorded from Is. Ulleung-do. Images of adults and genitalia for the newly recorded species and a little known species are provided.
