Four species such as Amanita gemmata, Tricholoma aurantiipes, Panellus violaceofulvus, and Leucopaxillus septentrionalis which were found in Jeju Island, are first reported in Korea. Four species were identified with macro- and microscopic descriptions and distinctive characters are presented for each species. A. gemmata and T. aurantiipes were collected in evergreen broadleaf forest of Gwaneumsa and the former also founded in Manjanggul. P. violaceofulvus was collected in subalpine plants including Abies koreana and Carpinus laxiflora of Halla Mountain. And L. septentrionalis recorded in deciduous broadleaf forest of Tamla valley.
Fresh materials were obtained during collection trips to $Ull\check{u}ng$ Island in October, 1989, and August, 1990. Among them, some resupinate fungi were identified. Seven fungi were confirmed new in Korea and are recorded here with descriptions. They are Gloeocystidiellum karstenii, Peniophora lilacea, Phlebia cremeo-alutacea, P. deflectens, P. livida, Resinicium bicolor, and Hymenochaete corrugata.
A taxonomic study of Viola section Chamaemelanium in Korea, based on morphological characters, was conducted with light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Two species, V. orientalis W. Becker and V. brevistipulata (Fr. et Sav.) W. Becker, are recognized by rhizome and cauline habits, trichomes on the ovary and the shape and beards of stigmas. The latter can be split further into three varieties, var. brevistipulata, var. minor Nakai and var. laciniata (Boiss.) W. Becker, according to the leaf morphology in particular. Viola brevistipulata var. laciniata has the most tooth number, and its teeth are irregular erose but the other two varieties are regular sinuate or serrate. As for the size of leaves, V. brevistipular var. brevistipulata is the largest but V. brevistipulata var. minor is the smallest among the varities. Of them, V. brevistipulata var. laciniata is newly recorded in Korea. It was also revealed that both development and arrangement of the beards developed on the ovary and stigma were particularly diagnostic in the identification of the Viola section Chamaemelanium species.
During the period of 1933-1994, house dusts were collected from 65 homes at 10 different localities by operating electric vacuum cleaners. House dust mites were isolated from 10 g dust by applying the modified wet sieving method. Total 7,257 mites were collected and 23 species were identified. Among them, Demctophqgoines loyinaf (DF) was predominant (65. Soy) of the total) , followed by D. pteronvssinus (DP) (20.6%) and Tyrophagus nutrescentios (TP) (6.5%) . Rhizoglvphur robini, Sancqsscnin phvIlophogiann, Cheyletus trcussarti and Scheloribates latipes were the first findings from Korea. DF was predominant in Seoul (66.8%), Kwangju (63.6%), inland of Pusan (79.6%1, Inchon (96.5%), Taejon (83.9%), Chouju (87.15) and Chongiu (95.2%), whereas DP was predominant in Yongkwang-ub (72.5%) and Yongdo (island) of Pusan (64.9%), and TP in Chunchon (38.2%) The localities where DP and TP were predominant showed higher relative humidity in air (> 73% RH) . Among 62 study homes, DF, DP and TP were found in 24.6% of the homes, co-habitat of two species in 48.1% and one species in 27.3%. DF was predominant in 63.5% of the homes studied, DP in 29.6% and TP in 6.9%. In 10 g of the house dust, less than 99 mites were found in 49 homes (70.0%), 100-499 mites in 11 homes (15.7%), 500-999 mites in 3 homes (4.3%) and more than 1,000 mites in 2 homes (2.9%). No mite was found in 5 homes (7.1%). In order to evaluate environmental factors affecting the population density of house dust mites, house type, age of house construction, size of the house, number of the family and frequency of the cleaning were compared with the number of mites, and none of the above factors were statistically correlated with the mite density.
A revised checklist of host plants for 181 species belonging to 103 genera in six subfamilies of Cerambycidae (Coleoptera: Chrysomeloidea) in Korea is provided on the basis of the results of field surveys and literature review. A total of 14 new cerambycid-host associations are confirmed and the Manchurian striped maple, Acer tegmentosum Maxim. (Aceraceae), is listed as a new host of the Asian longhorn beetle, Anoplophora glabripennis (Motschulsky). The names of more than 170 host plants species belonging to 107 genera in 44 families are compiled. Among them, four families (Ulmaceae, Pinaceae, Fagaceae and Betulaceae) are confirmed as the main host families (more than 23%) of most of the cerambycid species. All invalid scientific names and Korean names of plants and cerambycids in the previous literature are corrected in the present paper.
In order to investigate the species composition and the colony density of ants in Mt. Namsan, Seoul, 39 quadrats were installed in 13 vegetations, 443 colonies of ants were collected from June, 1989 to October, 1990. As the result, 4 subfamilies, 23 genera, 28 species was confirmed. Among them, Cerapachys humicola $O_{GATA}$ is new to Korean fauna along with the subfamily Cerapachinae. For the species composition of ant communities in each vegetation, Robinia pseudoacacia vegetation(containing 3 subfamilies, 14 genera, 15 species-53.6% of all colonies collected in Mt. Namsan) and Quercus mongolica vegetation (3 subfamiles, 12 genera, 14 species -50%) showed relatively rich composition, while Platunus orientalis vegetation (3 subfamilies, 3 genera, 3 species) showed the simplest composition. Colony density was the highest in Prunus sargentii vegetation (7.875 colony /$m^2$) and the lowest in Platunus orientalis (1.000 colony/$m^2$). The relative density of Paratrechina flavipes proved to be the highest (RD = 0.422) and that of Cerapachys humicola $O_{GATA}$ Massor aciculatus was the lowest (RD = O. 002 respectively). In the analysis of the similarity of ant communities between each vegetation by S¢rensen's coefficient, Prunus sargentii was very similar to Sorbus alnifolia (0.745) and Pinus densiflora (0.736), but had the lowest similarity to Metasequoia glyptostoboides and Chamaecyparis pisifera vegetation (0.164 respectively). Dominance of ants in each vegetation analyzed by Simpson'formula was found to be high in Platunus orientalis ($\lambda$ = 0.393) and Sorbus alnifolia ($\lambda$ = 0.392) and the lowest in Metasequoia glyptostroboides vegetation($\lambda$= 0.067). The analysis of diversity by reverse Simpson's coefficient revealed that it was high in Metasequoia glyptostroboides ($d_s$ = 14.925), Pinus rigida ($d_s$ = 7.874) and was the lowest in Platunus orientalis vegetation ($d_s$ = 2.545). Evenness calculated by using d. and $d_{max}$(maximal diversity) was high in Metasequoia glyptostroboides ($E_s$ = 0.714) and Chamaecyparis pisifera vegetation ($E_s$ = 0.624). On the contrary, Quercus mongo/ica vegetation had the lowest value of evenness ($E_s$ = 0.182).
Fresh fungi were obtained during collection trips to Ullung Island in October, 1989, and August, 1990. Among them, some corticioid fungi were identified. Ten fungi were confirmed new to Korea and are recorded here with descriptions. They are Athelia epiphylla, Grandinia alutaria, G. gran.utosa, G. stenospora. Cylindrobasidium evolvens. Hyphoderma rlldula, H setigerum, Hypochnicium eichleri, Trechispora Illbo-ochracea, and T. farinllcea.nllcea.
Echinochloa oryzoides (Ard.) Fritsch (Na-do-non-pee), was found at paddy fields of Jeonranamdo on a large scale after a first discovery at Masan, Kyeongsangnamdo. This species was not easily distinguished from rice before flowering at the paddy field because of a similar morphology to rice. It is, however, distinguished from other species of the Korean Echinochloa by reliable morphological characters such as horizontal or drooping panicles at maturity, lower glumes with usually 1/4-2/5 as long as the spikelets, awned lower lemmas, and the number of chromosomes, 2n = 54. Echinochloa oryzicola (Vasinger) Vasinger was distinguished from E. oryzoides by erect panicles, lower glumes with at least 1/2 as long as the spikelets, and the number of chromosomes, 2n = 36.
Distributional surveys for vascular plants were carried out in Daecheong island, Ongjin-gun, South Korea, from 2008 to 2010. The vascular plants recognized from the island were in tatal 402 taxa that were of 90 families, 269 genus, 350 species, 3 subspecies, 43 varieties, 6 forms. Among the investigated 402 taxa, 2 Korean endemic plants, 8 rare and endangered plants which was designated by Korea Forest Service, 35 specially plants designated by the Ministry of Environment were included. The naturalized plants were identified as 40 taxa and the percentage of naturalized plants index was 9.9%. In addition, an unrecorded species, Thyrocarpus glochidiatus Maxim (Boraginaceae), was recognized from the island.

Vulpia octoflora (Walter) Rydb., a newly identified invasive alien species, was found in Gangcheon-ri, Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It is native to North America and has been reported to be an invasive alien plant in Japan, Australia, and Ukraine. Vulpia octoflora is a weed that grows mainly in dry sandy or rocky soil and is frequently found along the roadside in open areas or in artificially disturbed sites. This species is similar to the recently confirmed alert alien species, V. bromoides (L.) Gray, but is readily distinguishable due to more florets per spikelet and a short awn of the lemma. A detailed species description, the geographical distribution, illustrations, photographs, and an identification key for all species of Vulpia that occur in Korea are provided.
