  • The method on reconfiguring job priority in service queue has been developed to provide seamless service and to enhance operability of Data Service Platform(DSP) in Korean e-Navigation project that performed by Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries(MOF) since 2016. It plays a critical role for providing seamless services of DSP to expect which services ships request to DSP and how much time it costs to make services for responding them to ships in advance. Therefore, as developing a method on reconfiguring jobs in service queue of DSP with a noble algorithm to analyse priority index in parallel, DSP can provide seamless services to ships regardless of data volume and the number of requests that stacked in service queue.

  • The technique named CORD is an algorithm that optimizes resources of Data Service Platform(DSP) in real time, and it has been developed for enhancing operability of DSP of Korean e-Navigation Project performed by Hanwha Systems and Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries(MOF) since 2016. It plays a critical role to recognize the state of DSP in early time and handling problems immediately when it occurs logical, physical error in order to make DSP steady state condition, which has something in common with maximizing operability of DSP and seamless maritime service to various ships in the sea. Therefore, as developing a noble technique that makes DSP steady state by diagnosing resource and operation status of DSP as well as by reconfiguring service queue optimally in real time, DSP can have shorter response time and higher chance of providing proper maritime service to ships in voyage.

  • This study proposes a cost-effective method to monitor coastal environments using e-Navigation-implemented domestic and international ferries, and to analyze big data of records such as wind, temperature, salinity, waves, and currents that are gathered through e-Navigation system. First, we present the concept and architecture of e-Navigation operation system based on the General Information Center on Maritime Safety and Security. Then, the marine observation system that can be applied to ferries operating in our nation's territory is discussed. Analytical methods, such as spatio-temporal mixed effects model, ensemble method, and meshfree method, in handling real-time big data obtained by the e-Navigation observing system are then explained in detail. This study will support the implementation of the Korean e-Navigation project that focuses on the safety of small vessels such as coasters and fishing vessels.

  • This paper aims to establish a reconfigurable flight simulation environment to conduct safety evaluation of various electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Since the inceptor, aircraft dynamics model, and controller applied to each eVTOL aircraft are different, it was configured to be variable so that a simulation can be executed for each eVTOL aircraft. Test elements and performance indicators were set to perform safety evaluation of eVTOL aircraft. Ground auxiliary equipments were designed and implemented in a simulation environment according to test procedures for each test element. In addition, to analyze safety performance, a simulation flight data collection environment based on MATLAB/Simulink and a tool for safety performance analysis were implemented. Test flight and analysis were conducted in the implemented simulation environment in this paper. Finally, this study shows the environment was verified by confirming that it was performed normally.

  • This paper proposes the adaptive class-E power amplifier with maintaining high power added efficiency (PAE) to apply RFID and wireless communication system. This switch mode amplifier is used a microprocessor to control a resonator circuits and to maintain high efficiency in case of input frequency variation. To validate the adaptive amplifier operation, which is a 450MHz operating frequency and a 100MHz bandwidth, the class E amplifier is implemented. As a result, the adaptive amplifier is maintained above 60% efficiency in frequency range and has a 74.8% maximum efficiency.

  • To overcome ground congestions due to growing number of cars, a lot of companies have proposed personal aerial vehicle (PAV). Among PAV, electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircrafts capable of vertical take-off and landing with electric power are drawing attention, and their configurations vary from multicopters to tilt ducted fans. This study tries to analyze the characteristics of each eVTOL design configurations. Parasite drag was calculated using component build up method for Vahana, Aurora, Volocopter representing each eVTOL PAV type of tilt-wing, compound, and multicopter. Wetted area and induced drag was calculated using OpenVSP and XFLR5 that are aircraft design and aerodynamic analysis software. The batteries used in the eVTOL PAV was assumed as Tesla 2170 batteries and flight ranges were calculated. Also, energy consumption and maximum flight time for the given mission profile including take-off and landing, cruising segments were compared for each eVTOL.

  • The International Maritime Organization's e-Navigation strategy introduces new technologies to ships to support easier and safer navigation. To implement the e-Navigation strategy, it was necessary to develop a common data model, that could meet various requirements across all aspects of the maritime information service. The International Hydrographic Organization's S-100 Universal Hydrographic Data Model was selected, as the basis for the standardization of maritime data products. Three S-100 based product specifications for weather information, collectively called "S-41X", are currently under development by the NOAA's Ocean Prediction Center, for use in the Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS). This paper describes a design of a grid based S-413 data model out of three S-41X product specifications. Other S-100 data products, which support the gridded data format, were considered. To verify the data model, an encoding test was conducted, using the Korean Meteorological Adminstration's numerical prediction model results.
