  • An yponomeutid species, Saridoscelis kodamai Moriuti, is recorded from Korea and mainland China for the first time. Saridoscelinae are first recorded in the Korean fauna. Photos of external and genital features are provided for S. kodamai. Occurrence of S. kodamai in Korea is discussed in relation with the flight time and the distribution of their host plants.

  • Two specimens of Asterorhombus intermedius (130.0~143.4 mm SL), belonging to the family Bothidae, were firstly collected from the coastal waters of Jeju Island, Korea. This species was characterized by having 54~56 lateral line scales, first dorsal-fin ray with a long projection, and various size of black spots on the body. The morphological characteristics matched well with previous description of A. intermedius. Therefore, we add this species to the Korean fish fauna and propose its Korean name, "Git-teol-dung-geul-neob-chi-sok" and "Git-teol-dung-geul-neob-chi" for the genus and species, respectively.

  • A new marine interstitial nematode species belonging to the subgenus Quadricoma of order Desmoscolecida is described from Jindo Island, South Korea. The new species, Tricoma (Quadricoma) jindoensis sp. nov., is most allied with T. (Q.) crassicomoides Timm, 1970 in sharing the similar cephalic setae, broadly truncated border of head, lip region including 6 labial papillae, and slender and long spicule among the seven congeners with 44 quadricomoid rings. However, T. (Q.) jindoensis differs from it by the globular protuberance on the penultimate ring, 7 tail rings, and 9 pairs of subdorsal setae in male. This is the first record of Quadricoma nematodes from East Asia.

  • Two sculpin specimens (79.3~100.8 mm standard length) were collected from the upper reach of Deokdongcheon Stream, a tributary of the Hyeongsangang River, in Korea. They were identified as Cottus pollux by characteristics such as the absence of palatine teeth, 12~13 unbranched pectoral fin rays, pelvic fins without obvious bands or spots, and the absence of a blackish band on the head or anterior part of the body. A phylogenetic analysis based on the nuclear ITS1 gene and mitochondrial cytb gene indicated that the specimens formed a clade with Japanese C. pollux, supporting the morphological species identification. We propose a new Korean name for the species: "Min-mu-nui-dug-jung-gae"

  • This study aims to analyze the frequency of keywords used in Korean abstracts, which are unstructured text data in the domestic record management research field, using text mining techniques to identify domestic record management research trends through distance analysis between keywords. To this end, 1,157 keywords of 77,578 journals were visualized by extracting 1,157 articles from 7 journal types (28 types) searched by major category (complex study) and middle category (literature informatics) from the institutional statistics (registered site, candidate site) of the Korean Citation Index (KCI). Analysis of t-Distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE) and Scattertext using Word2vec was performed. As a result of the analysis, first, it was confirmed that keywords such as "record management" (889 times), "analysis" (888 times), "archive" (742 times), "record" (562 times), and "utilization" (449 times) were treated as significant topics by researchers. Second, Word2vec analysis generated vector representations between keywords, and similarity distances were investigated and visualized using t-SNE and Scattertext. In the visualization results, the research area for record management was divided into two groups, with keywords such as "archiving," "national record management," "standardization," "official documents," and "record management systems" occurring frequently in the first group (past). On the other hand, keywords such as "community," "data," "record information service," "online," and "digital archives" in the second group (current) were garnering substantial focus.

  • A single specimen of Neoclinus nudiceps, belongs to the family Chaenopsidae, was first collected from Hongdo Island, Yellow Sea of Korea on June 13, 2012. This species is characterized by a lateral line reaching to below the 3rd~4th spines of the dorsal fin, two pairs of supraorbital cirri arranged in one row, anterior supraorbital cirri with six tips, and posterior supraorbital cirri with one tip. The species is morphologically similar to N. monogrammus, but differs in the length of lateral line (reaching 3rd~4th dorsal spines in N. nudiceps vs. reaching 6th~9th dorsal spines in N. monogrammus, respectively). This study documents the first record of N. nudiceps in Korean waters and suggests the new Korean name "Jjalb-eun-teol-bi-neul-be-do-la-chi" for the species.

  • Two specimens (1770~1850 mm disc width) of Mobula thurstoni, belonging to the family Myliobatidae, order Myliobatiformes, were first collected from the central coast of the Southern Sea of Korea in September 2018. This species is characterized by an anterior margin of disc with double curvature, a white-tipped dorsal fin, and the absence of a caudal spine. This species is morphologically similar to Mobula kuhlii, but has an anterior margin of pectoral fins with a double curvature and the dorsal coloration is bluish black rather than white. In addition, M. thurstoni was well distinguished from M. kuhlii as determined by mitochondrial DNA 16S rRNA sequences with genetic distances ranging from 0.030 to 0.069. The Korean name 'Mae-kkeun-kko-li-jwi-ga-o-li' is proposed for the species M. thurstoni.

  • A re-examination of Luciogobius guttatus was conducted using 84 samples, which lives on all coastal waters of Korea. As a result, 41 specimens (31.3~54.4 mm SL) collected from the west and south coasts were classified as L. martellii. The morphological features of L. martellii as follows: number of abdominal vertebrae 16; total number of vertebrae 35~37; dorsal fin base length longer than upper caudal peduncle length or equal; one free ray on its upper pectoral fin; and edge of tail fin white. Among these, the most prominent morphological difference in L. guttatus is comparing the dorsal fin base length and upper caudal peduncle length, which is also well observed in syntypes of L. martellii. We proposed a new Korean name, "Geom-jeong-mi-kken-mang-duk" referring to their color.
