  • As hostile online reviews can have a negative impact on a company's reputation, it is not surprising that online reviewers and business owners often get involved in conflicts which sometimes evolve into legal disputes. This research examines the legal dispute case in which the business owner charges an online reviewer for a defamation. Further, this research compares the supreme court's decision with general public's view on this defamation case, using a survey method. From the legal point of view, an online reviewer's primary motive determines whether the online reviews are defamatory statements or not. Specifically, if an online reviewer's primary motive is to increase the overall benefits for the public society, the online review does not bear any legal liability. According to our survey, consumers' view aligns with the final decision of the supreme court. They believe that online reviews should bear a minimum level of legal liability as online reviews often contain useful and valuable information which can enhance overall public benefits.

  • This case examined the strategy of taking back a market leader in Korea Internet shopping mall through free book delivery service of Interpark. Although lnterpark was an oldest Internet shopping mall in Korea, its market position has been weaken and weaken due to strong challengers based on TV Home shopping companies. In order to overcome the difficult situation, Interpark chose the book division as a bowling alley. The company offered boldly a free delivery service of book for customers. The free delivery service was considered as a risky bating because it cost a lot. However, it led more customer traffic to Interpark and cross-selling of other categories. At last Interpark took back a market leader based on free book delivery service. The case showed it was very important for e-business company to analyze market and competitors and to implement bold strategies at high speed.

  • This paper reports on a study testing a model that articulates factors affecting duration of the relationship between exporters and importers. The model posits that affective commitment and calculative commitment influence duration of the relationship. Affective commitment of an importer toward an exporter is hypothesized to be predicted by social satisfaction, which in turn may be predicted by cultural familiarity, perceived similarity, and credibility. In contrast, calculative commitment is hypothesized to be predicted by economic satisfaction, which in turn may be predicted by opportunism and relationship performance. A survey of importers was conducted to test the model. The study results provided support for most of the hypotheses. Theoretical and managerial implications of the study results are discussed too.

  • Purpose : To analyze organization variables related to nursing between the doctors' strike and normal periods. Methods : The sample consisted of 1,220(600 for doctors' strike and 620 for normal periods) nurses working in 5 hospitals. Six instruments were used for data collection including Job Activity Scale(JAS; Laschinger, 1994), Organization Relationship Scale(ORS; Laschinger, 1994), Interpersonal Support Scale(developed by Firth et al., 1986 and revised by Ahn(2000), Self-efficacy Scale(Riggs & Knight, 1994),Job Satisfaction Scale(Slavitts et al., 1978), and Organizational Commitment Questionnaire(OCQ; Mowday et al., 1979). Results : There were significant differences among variables(i.e., formal power, interpersonal support, self-efficacy and organizational commitment)between doctors' strike and normal periods. The formal power was high during the normal period, however interpersonal support, self-efficacy and organizational commitment were high during the doctors' strike. Conclusion : Interpersonal support, self-efficacy and job satisfaction were change by working conditions, but organizational commitment was not changed by working conditions.

  • This study presents the behaviors of the typical architectural precast prestressed concrete beams, inverted tee and rectangular beams, subjected to combined flexural and torsional loads. For this purpose, two inverted-tee beams were designed with a parking live load, $5 kN/m^2$, and a market load $12 kN/m^2$ according to the currently used typical shape in the domestic building site. Also, two rectangular beams were also designed as the same bottom dimension and area, and reinforced for similar strength as in the cases of inverted tee beams. Total of four beams were tested, under combined bending and torsion, analysed and compared. Test results showed that the cracking and ultimate flexural strength of the beams decreased under torsional loading. However, two different shaped-beams had roughly the same load resisting capacity in service and ultimate states.

  • In the present study, an improved design method was developed for the punching shear strength of interior slabcolumn connections and column footings with and without shear reinforcement. In the evaluation of the punching shear strength, the possible failure mechanisms of the connections and column footings were considered. The considered failures modes were inclined tensile cracking of concrete, yielding of shear re-bars, and concrete crushing of compression zone/strut. The punching shear applied to the concrete critical section was assumed to be resisted mainly by the compression zone. The punching shear strength of the concrete compression zone was evaluated based on the material failure criteria of the concrete subjected to the compressive normal stress and shear stress. For verification of the proposed design method, its prediction was compared with the existing test results. The result showed that the proposed method predicted the strengths of the test specimens better than the current design methods of the KCI code for both the shear reinforced and unreinforced cases.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the affecting factors on the health promoting behaviors of the clinical nurses. Methods: This study was a trans-sectional survey research. The subjects of this study were 206 clinical nurses. The data were collected by questionnaires and medical records. Results: There were significant positive relationships between health promoting behavior and perceived health status, job satisfaction, familial support. There were significant negative relationships between health promoting behavior and depression. The significant affecting factors on the health promoting behaviors of the clinical nurses were depression, familial support and job satisfaction. These 3 factors explain 18.6% of the health promoting behaviors of the clinical nurses. Conclusion: This study provides the empirical evidence that health promoting behaviors of the clinical nurses are closely related to depression, familial support, and job satisfaction. This results can be used to develop health promoting program for clinical staff nurses.

  • Association rule mining searches for interesting relationships among items in a given database. There are three primary quality measures for association rule, support and confidence and lift. In order to improve the efficiency of existing mining algorithms, constraints were applied during the mining process to generate only those association rules that are interesting to users instead of all the association rules. When we create relation rule, we can often find a lot of rules. This can find rule that direct relativity by intervening variable does not exist. In this study we try to discovery an insignificant rule in association rules by intervening variable. Result of this study can understand relativity about rule that is created in relation rule more exactly.

  • Realtime search words of typical portal sites appear every few seconds in descending order by search frequency in order to show issues increasing rapidly in interest. However, the characteristics of realtime search words reordering within too short a time cause problems that they go over the key issues of the day. This paper proposes a method for deriving a key issue through association analysis of realtime search words. The proposed method first makes scores of realtime search words depending on the ranking and the relative interest, and derives the top 10 search words through descriptive statistics for groups. Then, it extracts association rules depending on 'support' and 'confidence', and chooses the key issue based on the results as a graph visualizing them. The results of experiments show that the key issue through association rules is more meaningful than the first realtime search word.

  • This study explores experiences of male family care worker who are caring for their family members with chronic health conditions at home. Qualitative methodologies were used; semi-structured in-depth interviews with seven participants. Data were analysed using thematic analysis. Results indicated that men are playing greater roles in the provision of care for family members. Findings are presented as three themes: adaptation of role transformations, development for new relationships, and learning to cope with the unexpected. The results suggest that male family care workers experience changes in the ways that they adapt their traditional roles to the new roles they assume as caregivers. Implications for social workers and other care providers are discussed.
