  • This study studied scoliosis, one of the most common modern diseases caused by lifestyle patterns of office workers sitting in front of computers all day and modern people who use smart phones frequently. Scoliosis is a typical complication that takes more than 80% of the nation's total population at least once. X-ray are used to test for these complications. X-ray, a non-destructive testing method that allows scoliosis to be easily performed and filmed in various areas such as the chest, abdomen and bone without contrast agents or other instruments. We uses NI DAQ to miniaturize digital X-ray imaging devices and image intensifier in self-shielding housing with Vision Assistant for drawing lines to the top and the bottom of the spine to acquire angles, i.e. curvature in real-time. In this way, the research was conducted to see scoliosis patients and their condition easily and to help rapid treatment for solving the problem of posture correction in modern people.

  • Using visible-near infrared(Vis-NIR) spectra combined with machine learning methods, the feasibility of quick and non-destructive classification of Convolvulaceae species was studied. The main aim of this study is to classify six Convolvulaceae species in the field in different geographical regions of South Korea using a handheld spectrometer. Spectra were taken at 1.5 nm intervals from the adaxial side of the leaves in the Vis-NIR spectral region between 400 and 1,075 nm. The obtained spectra were preprocessed with three different preprocessing methods to find the best preprocessing approach with the highest classification accuracy. Preprocessed spectra of the six Convolvulaceae sp. were provided as input for the machine learning analysis. After cross-validation, the classification accuracy of various combinations of preprocessing and modeling ranged between 43.4% and 98.6%. The combination of Savitzky-Golay and Support vector machine methods showed the highest classification accuracy of 98.6% for the discrimination of Convolvulaceae sp. The growth stage of the plants, different measuring locations, and the scanning position of leaves on the plant were some of the crucial factors that affected the outcomes in this investigation. We conclude that Vis-NIR spectroscopy, coupled with suitable preprocessing and machine learning approaches, can be used in the field to effectively discriminate Convolvulaceae sp. for effective weed monitoring and management.

  • Radiation sources used in the field of industrial non-destructive pose a risk of exposure due to ageing equipment and operator carelessness. Thus, the need for a safety management system to trace the location of the source is being added. In this study, Monte Carlo Simulation was performed to analyse the angle dependence of the unit-cell comprising the line-array dosimeter for tracking the location of radiation sources. As a result, the margin of error for the top 10% of each slope was 5.90% at $0^{\circ}$, 8.08% at $30^{\circ}$, and 20.90% at $60^{\circ}$. The ratio of the total absorbed dose was 83.77% at $30^{\circ}$ and 53.36% at $60^{\circ}$ based on $0^{\circ}$(100%) and showed a tendency to decrease with increasing slope. For all gradients, the maximum number was shown at $30^{\circ}$ No. 9 pixels, and for No. 10, there was a tendency to drop 7.24 percent. This study has shown a large amount of angle dependence, and it is estimated that the proper distance between the source and line-array dosimeters should be maintained at a distance of not less than 1 cm to reduce them.

  • As forest fires continue to increase in scale worldwide, the importance of forest roads in relation to forest fire prevention and suppression has become increasingly evident. To ensure effective functioning during a forest fire disaster, it is crucial to apply appropriate road planning and ensure roads' structural integrity. However, previous studies have predominantly focused on the impact of forest fires on firebreak efficacy and road placement, meaning that insufficient attention has been paid to ensuring the safety of these facilities. Therefore, this study sought to compare the strength of concrete facilities within areas damaged by forest fires over the past three years by using the rebound hammer test to identify signs of thermal degradation. The results revealed that concrete facilities damaged by forest fires exhibited significantly lower strength (15.6 MPa) when compared with undamaged facilities (18.0 MPa) (p<0.001), and this trend was consistent across all the target facilities. Consequently, it is recommended that safety assessment criteria for concrete forest road facilities be established to prevent secondary disasters following forest fire damage. Moreover, continuous monitoring and research involving indoor experiments are imperative in terms of enhancing the stability of forest road structures. It is expected that such research will lead to the development of more effective strategies for forest fire prevention and suppression.

  • Phyllostachys pubescens planted in the Nambu Forest Experiment station in Jinju city of Gyongnam province was used, to investigate the physical and mechanical property of bamboo in this study. The ages of the P. pubescens were 1, 2 and 3 years, respectively. This experiment was carried out in August and January. The P. pubescens were divided into upper, middle and lower parts according to the growing points. The physical and mechanical properties of the P. pubescens were investigated before and after treatment of hot water and microwave irradiation. 1. The upper part of the P. pubescens indicated the highest static MOE according to the growing points. The range of the static MOE was from 70,000 to 110,000kgf/cm2. 2. When P. pubescens were treated with hot water of 95℃, the ratio of softening was about 10~30%. 3. As microwave irradiation time was increased, the MOE values was decreased in both green and water-saturated bamboos. For the irradiation time of 20 and 30 seconds, the static MOE of P. pubescens was decreased up to about 50% comparing with non-treated.
