This study suggested a knowledge theory, theoretical framework and general principles in methodologies for library and information science by theoretically weighing domain analysis. The central concept to domain analysis are a subject knowledge constituting the domain and a discourse communities to share their knowledge. Therefore the study described a definition of domain and explained domain in ontological, epistemological, and sociological dimensions, proposed eleven approaches available in domain analysis. And the study argued the implications of domain analysis for library and information in position of socio-cognitive view and pragmatic realism.

This study is to propose the possibility of narrative or story as a research methodology in the field of library and information science. To do this, I discuss the power and possibility of storytelling as a epistemological method of social science. Later, I look into turn to narrative in western scholarly traditions. And then, I introduced the process and the characteristic of the narrative inquiry as a subject and a methodology of research. I compare to another research methodology, ethnography and phenomenological research. At last, I reviewed the literature which is conducted by the methodology of narrative inquiry in the field of library and information science. I consider the possibility of adaptation of narrative inquiry in the field.

This study dealt with author production, subject production, university production and research method for the purpose of clarifying the LIST research pattern of us by using the method of content analysis of 1,855 items of monographic which have been published in Korea between 1957 and december of 1997. It also analyzed and core special subject, core author, core author in each special part and language analysis quantitatively through the data. This study was done to apprehend the core subject and area, distribution of the subject and the general research pattern of Library and Information science.

This study is to examine into the research pattern of the domestic library and information science scholars through the bibliometric analysis. It analyzed treatise in SSCI, the model citation index database about the most authoritative social-scientific journals, with various viewpoints, such as authors, subjects, journals, native universities, post universities, years, core of the majoring subjects, major authors and journals. In addition, it analyzed citation factors of another treatise which appeared in SSCI. We foresee it will be useful to indicate the way of study following internationalization.

As Web based knowledge and technology is needed for librarians in the digital environments, it should be educated through the Department of Library and Information(DLI) courses. For importing the courses in DLI, we go through several preliminary stages. First, the role and duties of web masters in digital libraries are figured out. Second, it is known that the tendency of MLS courses in American universities is toward to adopt the web related subjects, but still not in Korea. Third, the survey finds out the recognition of web masters in Korean university libraries about the functions and abilities web masters. As the results, we suggest several subjects for the web master's training. They are HTML, XML, Window NT and Web Server Management, Javascript and Java, Networks, Mutimedia Programs, Programming, and LINUX.

빅데이터를 활용한 데이터 분석 기법 중 비정형 데이터 분석의 하나인 텍스트 마이닝 기법을 활용하여, 외국 학술지에 나타난 한국의 경제 분야 트렌드를 분석한다. 데이터베이스로 Web of Knowledge의 연구논문을 활용하였으며, 키워드 분석, 네트워크 분석, 토픽모델링 분석을 통해 연구 동향 및 지적구조를 파악하는 데 그 목적이 있다.

This study attempts to investigate the scatter of citation, obsolescence, and half-life of some social science literature. For the study 131 journal articles taken from three scholarly journals in the field of Economics. Public Administration, and Library and Information Science are selected and all analyses are taken in terms of the material types, the publication place, and the publication year of the papers cited by those journal articles. In result, it was found that the half-life of monographs is 6.76, that of scholarly journal articles 8.07, that of reports 6.49, and that of theses 3.45. Also, the study finds that most researchers in those field, cited more articles published in foreign countries(67.79%) that those published from Korea(32.21%).

워드 임베딩(word embedding)은 정보검색이나 기계학습에서 단어를 표현하기 위하여 사용되던 기존의 one-hot 벡터 방식의 희소공간 및 단어들 간의 관계정보를 유지할 수 없는 문제를 해결하기 위한 방법이다. 워드 임베딩의 한 방법으로 word2vec은 최근 빠른 학습시간과 높은 효과를 얻을 수 있는 모델로 주목을 받고 있다. word2vec은 수행 시 주어지는 옵션인 벡터차원과 문맥크기에 의해 그 결과 품질이 상이하다. Mikolov는 구글 뉴스 문헌 집합에 대하여 word2vec을 실험하고, 적합한 옵션을 제시하였다. 본 논문에서는 구글 뉴스 문헌 같은 일반 문서가 아닌 생의학 분야에 특화된 문헌에 대하여 word2vec에 대한 다양한 옵션을 실험하고, 생의학 문헌에 적합한 최적의 조건을 분석한다.

본 연구는 인터넷 망을 활용한 문헌정보학 전공자 채용공고를 대상으로, 마이닝기법을 적용하여 구직 실태의 특성을 파악하기 위해 수행되었다. 그 결과, 관종과 공고시기별로 유의한 차이가 나타났으며, 구직자들의 관심정도로 표현되는 공고 게시글의 조횟수 또한 고용형태에 따라 관종, 분기간 유의한 차이를 보였다. 사후검증결과, 구직자의 관심정도는 여타 관종보다 전문도서관과 대학도서관의 공고에 비슷한 추세를 보이며 두 관종의 업무와 고용조건을 유사하게 인식하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 결과는 도서관의 인적자원관리의 개선에 기여할 수 있는 기초자료로써 가치가 있으리라 판단된다.

This preliminary study examined the status of data science-related course syllabi in the American Library Association (ALA) accredited Library and Information Science (LIS) programs. The purpose of this study was to explore LIS course syllabi related to data science, such as course title, course description, learning outcomes, and weekly topics. LIS programs offer various topics in data science such as the introduction to data science, data mining, database, data analysis, data visualization, data curation and management, machine learning, metadata, and computer programming. This study contributes to helping instructors develop or revise course materials to improve course competencies related to data science in the ALA-accredited LIS programs.
