  • The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of step-by-step educational comic book behavior of the elementary school students and their reading levels on their learning competencies. To this end, qualitative research with focus group and deep interviews was conducted with students on different reading levels. During their repetitive reading activities, the students tended to use various educational comics within the same subjects area on their corresponding reading levels. Such behavior led the students to further read other books than comics in the similar subjects areas, and by doing so, the books acted as an important reference to the students' class materials. It was found that the students' such behavior has positive impact on the improvement of their learning competencies. It is hoped that this study will be supportive to develop self-study methods and effective reading guidance plans by improving the usage of educational comics.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate the information behavior of Korean college students as related to their process of learning activities, and to provide the essential data for improving the service quality of Korean academic libraries. To the end, discussed in details are (1) classifying the everyday learning activities of college students into six types and finding out the special features of their information needs and seeking behavior, (2) figuring out the meanings and use-patterns of academic libraries in their everyday learning, and (3) developing the variables influencing their library use behavior and testing the relationship between such variables and library use behavior. The data were collected through a survey with 290 college students, and analyzed for both frequency test and Chi-square test for the discussion.

  • The purpose of the study is to provide educational implications for more effective Problem-based learning(PBL) by investigating students' learning types based on their online learning behaviors. A total of 1,341 students participated in the study, and they engaged in a six-week-long PBL program run by K University. For the study, participants' online activity data were collected. From the data, a total of 48 variables that represent their various online learning behaviors were extracted. Based on the variables, hierarchical cluster analysis was conducted to analyze learning types. Also, the differences in learning characteristics and achievements were investigated by considering types of learning. As a result, the learning types in online PBL were classified as 'high-level participation (cluster 1)', 'medium-level participation (cluster 2)', and 'low-level participation (cluster 3)'. In addition, the achievement level was found to be highest in 'high-level participation (cluster 1)' and lowest in 'low-level participation (cluster 3)'. Based on the results, the implications for improving online PBL were suggested.

  • This paper sought to find significant learning behavioral indicators and their correlation with the academic achievements of elementary teacher candidates engaged in an online course using MS Teams during the COVID-19 pandemic. Focused on variables such as the number of visiting days to MS Teams, on-time online assignments, conversation activities, posts, and replies, MS Insights data in the LMS environment were collected in the fall term of the 2020 academic year and analyzed in Pearson correlation and multiple regression. The number of visiting days and on-time online assignments were significantly correlated with their grades, whereas the indicators including average weekly conversation activity, posts, and replies did not have a significant effect on the achievements. Furthermore, the results revealed that the subject's behavioral intention to submit on-time assignments significantly predicted learner achievements.

  • This study is investigating the effectiveness of a blended learning for English listening and reading class by analyzing students' learning behavior. To this end, two surveys were conducted on a total of 75 students from the two different classes of Academic English Listening and Reading course. The research results showed that in the online class, the students built undesirable learning behavior such as solving listening quizzes by reading listening scripts or watching the instructor's lectures about the scripts and completing the assignment of summary of the scripts by referring to the Korean versions. In the offline class, the students' participation in group activities and attention to lectures was good. Therefore, it can be concluded that because of the students' poor online learning behavior, this blended learning was rather not effective. So the suggestions are discussed to enhance the effectiveness of the blended learning for English listening and reading.

  • With the recent advance of IT technology and the change of education paradigm, vocational training has been also evolved. In the background of mobilization of learning, increase of bite-size contents, and the agility of just-in-time learning, this study surveyed the online learners' motivation, perceptions, and learning behaviour. Total 4,021 learners from 6 distance learning institutions revealed that learners take the e-learning courses due to more for their self-development than the company's supports and policy. Also, they perceived the subject matter in contents are the most important. The results from this study suggest that the development of contents should focus on the subject matter that can be utilized for their jobs immediately. Lastly, the study confirms that learning space and time has been changed in the flexible way to use their spare time between work and life. Irregularity of learning and hasty preparations were one of major characteristics in the aspect of learning behaviour.

  • This study is a case study on investigating students' learning behavior in the online English reading class of an on-off course. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on a total of 77 students from an English listening and reading course and phone interview with 5 students was implemented. The findings revealed that regularity of learning interval and learning sequence need to be improved through student management in order to increase the effect of online learning. In case of lecture watching, the students are good at utilizing the strengths of taped lecture, such as using pause and repeating watching. However, more research need to be done on how to develop online lecture to enhance students' understanding of the lecture. Regarding the offline review quiz that is supposed to stimulate students into their more positive watching of the lecture, it is suggested that a few of its related elements such as the online learning period and the number of quiz questions be corrected for its better effect.
