An Extended Naive Bayesian Algorithm for Automatic Book Classification (자동 도서분류를 위한 확장된 나이브베이지안 알고리즘)

  • 국내 공공도서관에서는 잘못 분류된 도서의 서가(bookshelf) 배치로 인해 이용자의 불편과 해당 도서관의 도서분류체계와의 불일치 등으로 도서관리에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 또한 자동 도서분류를 위한 기계학습 등 다양한 알고리즘의 연구가 진행되어 왔으나 적은 학습데이터에서의 분류효과 향상에 한계가 있었다. 이에 이 연구에서는 KORMARC(Korea Machine Readable Cataloging) 의 색인어(키워드) 정보를 결합한 확장된 나이브베이지안 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 색인어 정보는 일반적으로 도서검색시스템에서 검색 효과를 높이기 위해 이용되고 있으며 실제 공공도서관에서의 실험을 통해 도서량이 적은 경우에 보다 높은 분류효과를 얻을 수 있음을 실험 평가하였다.

A Study on the Cooperative Library Service Network for the Disabled Persons in Korea (도서관 장애인서비스 협력망 연구)

  • There are more than 2 million blind and partially disabled people in Korea. They need access to books and information for all the same reasons as non-disabled persons: for lifelong learning, for social activity, for leisure, and to play a full part in society. In considering these realities, this paper has suggested the various strategies and plans to build and operate a cooperative library service network for the disabled persons. In addition, author commented on the subsequent actions for implementing the cooperative service model.

  • 교육의 국제화로 인해 국내 대학에 재학 중인 유학생의 수가 매년 증가하고 있다. 그러나 유학생들이 학습 자원을 얻기 위한 가장 큰 정보원인 대학도서관은 유학생들을 위한 다국어 지원 서비스를 충분히 제공하고 있지 않은 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 대학도서관에서 제공하는 서비스 중 다국어 지원이 가능한 서비스 요인들을 선정하고 해당 요인들이 유학생들의 대학도서관 이용 만족도에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 선행연구를 바탕으로 사서/직원의 서비스(응답능력, 태도), 도서관 시설 이용(시설 안내, 장비 사용), 자료 접근 및 이용(홈페이지, 서가 배치), 이용자 서비스(이용자교육, 기타서비스)를 요인을 도출하였고 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면 도서관 시설 이용이 대학도서관 이용 만족도에 가장 큰 영향을 미치고 있었으며 사서/직원의 서비스와 이용자 서비스 또한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

The Plan for Activating Collection Services of Public Library in Seoul Metropolitan (서울시 공공도서관 자료서비스 활성화 방안)

  • The goal of this study is to propose the plan for activating collection services of public library in Seoul. For this goal, author analyzed and compared the core infrastructure, collection services, and their correlation of public libraries in 16 local governments and evaluated environment and the current situation of collection service of public libraries in Seoul. Based on the these results, author suggested five plans or strategies for vitalizing the collection services of public libraries. All public libraries in Seoul must maximize the visibility of the new collections, supply the culture(life-long learning) programs based on library collections, expand the breadth of the collection service through library cooperation system, strengthen interlibrary loan by establishment of the collaborative repository, and raise the awareness of the citizens about the library and collections.

A Study on the Descriptive Analysis for Coordination of the School's Library-Aided Instruction With the Problem-Based Learning in Korea School Libraries: Focusing on PBL Cases (PBL교과수업과 학교도서관 LAI의 연계를 위한 기술적 분석 - PBL 사례연구를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse the cases related with PBL and to suggest the activation plan of LAI based on the derived results. The analysis objects were the PBL cases which have been performed from 2000 to 2018 in Korean schools. The PBL cases were analysed in the aspects of school levels, target grades, subject clusters, teaching patterns, information sources, cooperative teaching status, library cooperative teaching status, and educational effects. The results were like these; 1)The PBL was applied at the elementary schools the most, the next middle schools, and high schools. 2)The teaching pattern was the exclusive teaching the most, and the next pattern was team teaching with other teacher, and the lowest pattern was with librarian teacher. 3)The subject cluster was natural science cluster the most and the next was the human & social science cluster and the art, music and physical education cluster. 4)The PBL performed with school library was low. 5)The main effects of PBL were the improvements of academic achievement, learning satisfaction degree, creative ability, problem-solving ability, and self-directed learning capability. As the results, it's proposed that it's important for librarian teachers to have the aggressive attitude for the activation of LAI as well as the cooperation with PBL subject teachers from the planning step to the evaluation.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate propriety of remodeling and present improvement as a case study of a school library. For this, we analyzed investigation of the process of it by selecting a school library which has been completed recently and surveyed user satisfaction after remodeling. According to the survey result, is shows that the user satisfaction of information service and education activity that are library's function and role are efficiently increased by remodeling. In case of the school library, on the other hand, it shows that the users still need not only the improvement of the space structure and aesthetic environment of the exterior and interior but also the expansion of the stuff and facility.

Evolution of Public Library from Information Commons to Learning Commons - The Cases of Japan Public Library - (도서관 정보코먼스에서 러닝코먼스로의 진화 - 일본 공공도서관의 러닝코먼스화 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the concept of information commons and learning commons that has emerged in recent years, and point out the difference between the two concepts, as well as its implications for public libraries, which get lessons learned from learning commons at Japanese public libraries. To track its evolution to learning commons, the theoretical component of learning commons was analyzed. Based on the reference, a research framework for the case study of learning commons was developed. With IT technology diffusion, libraries have become information commons. However, the main mission of libraries should basically remain as learning. Because of this, libraries which function as information commons should go back to being learning commons, which are primarily places of learning. This research shows that libraries should stress its original basic mission which is learning, beyond being information commons in the Japanese library.

The Relationship Analysis Between Academic Library Usage and Academic Achievement (대학생의 도서관 이용과 학업성취도 간의 영향관계 분석)

  • This study aims to investigate the relationship between university library usage and educational achievement of academic library users. To proceed with this study, academic library usage data were collected from S university undergraduate students. Academic achievement was measured using the students' grade point average(GPA). T-test and analysis of variance were used to compare differences of means between library usage and academic achievement with the background variables. Hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to determine the association between library usage and academic achievement. As a result, a positive correlation was found between academic achievement and the use of library resources and services according to gender, year and academic subject. In addition, academic library usage had a positive significant influence on academic achievement. Students who used more library resources and facilities ultimately get better grades.

  • School Libraries are facilities which support teachers and students in their teaching and learning activities and help to fulfil the school curriculum. Recently the Ministry of Education & Human Resources and Development is emphasizing ‘self learning’and it means that the problem solving ability of students can be improved through resource based learning & self learning. The resource based learning is closely connected with school libraries. School libraries are basic organization among all kind of libraries in all parts of th country and they can not develop without the systematic support of the government. The school libraries are just nominal because education in schools is centered on entrance examination and the government is indifferent to them. Therefore, it is urgent to constitute the related regulations and systems to rescue school libraries. The present school libraries laws should be revised toward the direction of effectiveness and it is possible to revise them after School Library Promotion Acts are constituted in public. All kinds of system and organization can develop only when they attach great importance to people Even though we constitute good laws and have good systems, they can not develop without the support of administrative organizations. They can develop when the administrative organizations have the strong will to develop them and are affectionately interested with them. The development of school libraries are under the control of strong interest and will of the people who are in charge of the systems and apply the related regulations.
