The Utilizing patterns of the library were grasped by the citation analysis of the foreign academic journals. From 2002 to 2003, the professors of J University in J city referred to 4,749 foreign journals in their 258 articles published in the domestic journals. Among them, 1,030 pieces on engineering. 741 on natural science, 2,286 on social sciences, 636 on human sciences and 56 on arts and sports were analyzed. The Result of the analysis showed that more journals were cited than the monographs in the fields of engineering, natural science and social science. In addition. $68.2\%$ of the citations were out of the journals listed in SCI. The Journals within 6-10 years in their publication were the most preferably cited.

The Libraries are face to difficult of academic journal subscription for the increasing price of journal and the increasing number of journal. Bibliographic citation analysis is one of method of evaluating the use of a journal collection. This study is used bibliographic use and scatting of foreign academic journal in Library and Information Science found in doctorial dissertation of graduate students in Seoul city, for serve to complement another method of journal evaluation. Journal selection and cancellation may be done on the basis to dispersion of journal citation to usefulness of journal subscription in the library budget. But the library should not rely on one single evaluation technique, it should take advantage of combination technique.

최근 인터넷을 중심으로 한 전자정보 통신의 발달은 종래의 연속간행물 출판과 배포에 새로운 국면을 제공하고 있는데 바로 전자형태의 저널 및 잡지의 출현이다. 특히 디지털도서관의 출현으로 대부분의 학술잡지들을 인쇄본과 함께 전자형태로 출판하는 추세에 있으며, 이러한 추세에 맞추어 각 출판사, 대학, 연구소 및 전운정보센터에서는 학술지를 중심으로 대부분의 자료들을 디지털화하여 온라인으로 제공하고 있다. 본 연구는 주요 도서관들이 이러한 새로운 정보매체, 즉 전자형태의 저널 및 잡지를 수용하는데 있어서 한정된 예산으로 해당 도서관들이 필요로 한 전자저널과 전자잡지를 선별·수집할 때 적용할 수 있는 평가요소를 연구하였다.

학술 연구 활동에 있어서 관련 정보의 수집은 중요한 연구 활동 중의 하나이다. 특히 첨단 과학기술 분야의 연구에 있어서 최신의 학술 잡지에 게재된 논문에 대한 정보들은 더욱 중요성을 같는다. 본 논문에서는 한국과학기술원에서 교수, 학생, 연구원에게 학술 잡지 정보를 신속하고 편리하게 제공하기 위해 개발된 학술 잡지 목차 서비스 시스템 (Journal Current Contents Service System, JContents)을 소개하기로 한다. JContents 시스템은 클라이언트/서버 구조를 바탕으로 GUI(Graphic User Interface) 환경을 제공한다. 특히 캠퍼스 정보 시스템과 연계하여 사용자가 원하는 정보를 E-Mail을 통해서 도서관에서 자료 입수 즉시 사용자에게 보낼 수 있도록 하여, 학술 정보를 신속하고 편리하게 제공함으로써 연구 생산성을 높이는데 기여한다.

Since the beginning of discussions on serial collection management, as budgets have waxed and waned over the ensuing decades, a number of key variables affecting selection/deselection have emerged but without the framework of a coherent and accepted theoretical model. This study is an effort to identify variables which affect the serial collection decision with special attention to selection/deselection in the context of an academic health science library. Based on results from correlation analyses and logistic regression analyses, the serial collection decision can be explained and predicted using various combinations of a reduced set of objective variables. Applications of the results to libraries are discussed, and further research is proposed.

The database includes 13,449 titles of foreign journals in scienc and technology which is a collection of 253 libraries in Korea. The items of analysis are nation, language, frequency, subject of each title, and also collection overlap, etc.

Medical libraries in Korea consume most of their budget and efforts of staffs for acquisition and administration of foreign medical journals. Annualy the rise in prices of the journals oppress the library budget. Because of these reasons, this paper studied and analyzed the possibility of cooperative acquisition of foreign medical journals between the medical libraries in Korea and several basic informations for cooperative acquisition by citation analysis method. The 5 source medical school journals were selected from our country's medical school journals: Seoul, Yonsei, Catholic, Chonnam, Kyungbook.
