This study is a study on the coding mathematics curriculum that converges elementary and middle school mathematics and information subjects and a minimum coding game-based education method for this. For the past 3 years, the coding mathematics curriculum and educational methods to effectively operate the curriculum were studied by applying them to 6th graders of elementary school and 1st graders of middle school. As a result of the first year of research, the coding mathematics curriculum was modified to a coding environment including the mathematical concept of a three-dimensional coordinate space, and the three-dimensional object was improved to be output as a real 3D print. As a result of the 2nd year study, it was improved so that even low-level students can build buildings by introducing different level commands for each component of the building so that self-directed learning is possible. As a result of the 3rd year study, a teaching-learning strategy based on a minimal coding game was designed to induce an increase in the level of computational thinking, and evaluation and feedback for diagnosing computational thinking were developed. Educational methods to promote self-directed learning and computing thinking ability, and researched coding mathematics curriculum are meaningful for the research and practice of the convergence education of school mathematics and informatics.
This study is to understand the work experiences of nursing students under preceptorship in 3+1 year program, and suggests effective practice to prevent stopping nursing profession. Four focus group interviews were made with 23 nursing students in 3+1 year program. Data were analyzed through the grounded theory of Corbin and Strauss' (2008). Through comparative analysis, central phenomenon of was 'looking for lighthouse'. The causal condition was 'opportunity to learning practice'. Contextual conditions were 'mood of being a true nurse', 'getting vivid information about clinical field', and 'lack of students perception about preceptorship'. Intervention conditions were 'work environment', 'proactive learning' and 'attachment to the hospital'. Action/interaction strategies were 'adjustment to diverse demands of patients and guardians', 'feeling as if it were one's own affair', and 'looking as much as knowing'. Consequence were 'pride' and 'itinerary of learning as a new graduate nurse'. This study is meaningful because it gives useful basis to nursing students in the process of 'looking for lighthouse'.
This study aimed to provide a desirable way to design culinary education programs at university by investigating the relationship between student satisfaction with education and job preference based on their high schools. The results of this study showed that a high percentage of students decided to choose culinary arts as their major by themselves. Most students found a career in the culinary field demanding, nevertheless, they appeared to have a strong desire to take up the challenge. Students from culinary high schools showed low satisfaction with their practical cooking courses, while students from vocational high schools seemed to be highly satisfied with those same courses. On the other hand, students from academic high schools showed a high satisfaction with their theory courses, which factored into their decision to choose culinary arts as their major. However, there appeared to be no significant difference in job preference according to the students. Most students, regardless of satisfaction with their education, considered working abroad. On the basis of these results, it is suggested that a culinary training program in universities should be divided tin three groups; academic, vocational & culinary. Each group to have classes in theory, practical and English designed with respect to their prior high school training. In addition, an opportunity for overseas employment should be offered to all three categories.

The purpose of this study was to develop a workbook that can support the class and evaluation of the subject, 「Food safety and health」 and to verify its validity. The development direction of the workbook was set by analyzing the 「Food safety and health」 curriculum, dietary education materials, and previous studies related to the workbook, and the overall structure was designed by deriving the activity ideas for each area. Based on this, the draft was developed, and the draft went through several rounds of cross-review by the authors and the examination and revision by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, before the final edited version was developed. The workbook was finalized with corrections and enhancements based on the advice of 9 experts and 44 home economics teachers. The workbook consists of 4 areas: the 'food selection' area, with 10 learning topics and 36 lessons, the 'food poisoning and food management' area, with 10 learning topics and 36 lessons, the 'cooking' area, with 11 learning topics and 43 lessons, and the 'healthy eating' area, with 11 learning topics and 55 lessons, resulting in a total of 42 learning topics, 170 lessons. The workbook was designed to evenly cultivate practical problem-solving competency, self-reliance capacity, creative thinking capacity, and community capacity. In-depth inquiry-learning is conducted on the content, and the context is structured so that self-diagnosis can be made through evaluation. According to the validity test of the workbook, it was evaluated to be very appropriate for encouraging student-participatory classes and evaluations, and to create a class atmosphere that promotes inquiry by strengthening experiments and practices. In the current situation where the high school credit system is implemented and individual students' learning options are emphasized, the results of this study is expected to help expand the scope of home economics-based elective courses and contribute to realizing student-led classrooms with a focus on inquiry.

This study analyzed current programs practiced by science-gifted education centers. This study was based on concerns of 18 science teachers on six science-gifted education centers of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education that had local representatives. For this study, we collected data using journals, documents, reports, survey reviews and interviews with science teachers. Science teachers were concerned about the selection and identification of gifted students, education periods, curriculum, and student evaluation. More authentic measurement for students' potential ability were needed for the identification and selection process. If the purpose of science-gifted centers was to be met, the number of students selected should be determined by local differences rather than regional equality. The curriculum and educational period could make good use of time allotted for vacation to increase lesson periods. Lessons based on strategies like contests for improving the students' creativity, free inquiry and communication skills had to be encouraged. A consistent system for science-gifted education from primary school to high school was needed.

This study explores the online learning experiences of Chinese foreign students in Korea by using the CQR process and method. To gather data, researchers conducted online, in-depth interviews with 15 Chinese university students in Korea who were enrolled in the spring and fall semesters in 2020. After compiling the research, the data were segmented into four domains and 13 categories, with 36 subcategories identified from among foreign students' online learning experiences. The results show that Chinese students perceived the convenience of online classes and personalized learning as its strength, but considered lowered motivation and lack of concentration as weaknesses. Also, they experienced an increase in the amount of learning, spending more time studying online, using personal learning strategies, and getting help from friends and the university's online learning system. Moreover, they experienced difficulties related to class notifications, guidance, and interactions with the instructors. Foreign students studying in Korea need their instructor's facilitation in order to understand and participate in online classes, reinforcing a student's self-directed learning ability, and need appropriate guidance and support in terms of the online class environment.

Recently, the emphasis on self-directed learning and lifelong education is increasing the importance of school libraries in the curriculum. Accordingly, various studies have been conducted mainly from a structural, institutional and operational point of view. However, more research is necessary on the micro topics such as school library users' autonomous intrinsic motivations in the sense that school libraries play key roles in autonomy-based self-directed education. This study aims at finding out what types of school library use motivations are more important and the degree to which the use motivations affect the school library service quality based on the self-determination theory. In addition, this study examines how the use motivations and the perceived service quality vary depending on the school grade of the library users. Based on a focus-group-interview pilot study, a questionnaire survey was administered on the effects of school library motivations on perceived library service quality to 588 students from 5 high schools and 2 middle schools in Seoul. When the service quality and its components, service affect, information control, and library as place were set as dependent variables, in all these four cases, intrinsic motivations were more significant than extrinsic motivations. In addition, when middle school students and high school students were selected as separate analysis target groups, the results of both analyses show that the higher the intrinsic motivations were, the higher the perceived service quality was. The contribution of this study is that it applies the self-determination theory to school library service, measures the influence of motivation type based on the theoretical basis, and focuses on micro aspects to improve school library services.
