Functional thinking, which focuses on the relationship between two or more varying quantities, is one of the key strands of algebraic thinking. This article is a case study that aimed to investigate how 3rd grade elementary students might make their functional thinking. The results showed that students not only understood the functional situation well but also created a record of the corresponding values of quantities, typically using descriptive writings and pictures. But when they tried to find a pattern and make a generalization, the students showed various difficulties. This paper concludes with implications on how to promote students' functional thinking from early grades in the elementary school.

Anthocyanin derivatives are an important of natural compounds responsible for the red, purple and blue colors in a large number of plants. This molecules are polymethoxy-derivatives of 2-phenylbenzopyrylium salts. Despite the beneficial properties of anthocyanins, the effectiveness of preventing or treating various diseases depends on bioavailability. Therefore, In this study, in order to investigate the electrical characteristics of anthocyanin derivatives, we investigated the electrochemical properties of derivatives by calculating the total energy, bandgap, net charge of anthocyanin derivatives using HyperChem8.0's PM3 method.

The goal of this paper is to get the result of the forecasting for the numbers of a high-school graduate by a moving average method and the statistical analysis for numbers of the limit of matriculation on the most colleges and universities in Daegu city and Gyoungbook until 2026 year. Recently, the decrease of the number of a high-school graduate have influences on the number of limit matriculation. The future of most colleges and universities in Daegu city and Gyoungbook is hanging in the balance after the crisis of the serious decrease of the number of a high-school graduate until 2026 year.

This study aimed to derive the concept and types of school outdoor spaces in Seoul. The research results showed that the concept of school outdoor space can be viewed as an outdoor activity space in schools that secures the value of integrated public life and communal life, including "behavioral rights, walking rights, living rights, urban rights, landscape rights (viewing rights), and nature experience rights." It can also be defined as a basic educational space that reflects the value of education, which is the basic function of schools and the characteristics of the community. As a result of the analysis based on the general types of outdoor spaces, it was found that the outdoor spaces of Seoul schools can be divided into three major categories: walking space (movement function), educational space (educational activities), and rest and other spaces (other services). Based on this, outdoor spaces were categorized and subcategorized to serve as the basis for policy implementation. These classifications are characterized by 1) simplifying the classification of spaces by function into three (movement functions, educational activities, and other services) to enable the use of outdoor spaces for integrated purposes; 2) reflecting the complex use of spaces by subdividing educational spaces focusing on major activities, and in particular, discovering complex spaces due to the three-dimensionalization of buildings; and 3) enabling spatial-level planning and facility element-level access according to school characteristics. It is characterized by applying the recent trends and systems of general outdoor space projects to the current situation of schools.

Understanding decimal numbers is important in mathematics as well as real-life contexts. However, lots of students focus on procedures or algorithms of decimal numbers without understanding its meanings. This study analyzed teaching method related to decimal numbers in a series of mathematics textbooks of Korea, Japan, Singapore and the US. The results showed that three countries except Japan introduced the decimal numbers as another name of fraction, which highlights the relation between the concept of decimal numbers and fractions. And limited meanings of decimal numbers were shown such as 'equal parts of a whole' and 'measurement'. Especially in the korean textbooks, relationships between the decimals were dealt instrumentally and small number of models such as number lines or $10{\times}10$ grids were used repeatedly. Based these results, this study provides implications on what and how to deal with decimal numbers in teaching and learning decimal numbers with textbooks.

Users may experience a sub-type of motion sickness, called cybersickness, when interacting with virtual reality (VR) applications in the state of wearing head mounted display (HMD) devices. Although the root cause of cybersickness is still unclear, it is believed to result from a sensory mismatch between visual and vestibular systems. However, there is a lack of studies developing data collection and analysis systems to measure cybersickness. In this paper, therefore, a system is designed that collects electroencephalography (EEG) and physiological data from a user wearing a VR HMD device through an internet of things (IoT) platform and decides whether a user experiences a symptom of cybersickness, namely dizziness, or not by using a decision threshold. Experimental results showed that the proposed system achieved about 92% accuracy of a dizziness detection when considering 14 participants.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of integrative Korean medicine on acute postoperative pain after arthroscopic shoulder surgery. Methods This study was conducted in a retrospective observational way. Patients who met the inclusion criteria were divided into integrative Korean medicine-treated group (IKM group) and no integrative Korean medicine treated-group (No IKM group). The primary outcome was the difference in the amount of change in pain intensity. The secondary outcome was the difference in pain intensity, opioid consumption over time, and the number of adverse events after surgery. Results The change of numerical rating scale for pain intensity from baseline to IKM group was 3.09±2.12, while 2.64±1.80 in no IKM group, and the difference of change between two groups was statistically significant (p<0.05). Difference in the use of opioid between two groups over time after surgery was also statistically significant (p=0.000). Conclusions The results of this study suggest that integrative Korean medicine can be effective for acute postoperative pain after arthroscopic shoulder surgery.

Thirty-five elementary schools in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do were surveyed on the installation status of plant labels. As a result of a comprehensive evaluation of the installation and condition of the plant labels, 12 out of 35 elementary schools were evaluated as "excellent," 13 as "good," and 8 as "insufficient." In some cases, various types of plant labels were installed on various types of plants and were updated continuously, indicating that the school members recognize the plant labels as an important educational tool. Meanwhile, some schools did not have a single plant label. Although plant labels were installed, instances occurred where they were neglected without continuous maintenance and management. Some plant labels were produced and installed by specialized companies, leading to errors in content or inadequate post-installation management, thereby compromising the school landscape. Therefore, we propose an alternative-allowing schools to independently produce and install plant labels. This approach preserves the school's uniqueness, and the process of producing and installing sustainable plant labels becomes an active educational tool.

The purpose of this study is to find a better way for placement of teacher librarians after the revision of the Enforcement Decree of School Libraries Promotion Act. To do this, the literature research is applied for reviewing the policy and current status regarding the placement of school librarians. The Ministry of Education announced its willingness to secure the number of job openings for librarian teachers through the midium and long-term plan in the 3rd School Library Promotion Basic Plan. It is analyzed that 323 new teacher librarians need to be recruited every year, after estimating the demand for recruitment of teacher librarians by 2030, considering the 3rd school library promotion basic plan. Schools in Gyeonggi Province and Daegu with no school library personnel exclusively in charge of libraries have been allocated with temporary teacher librarians, as an attempt to comply with the legal obligation to place exclusive staff for libraries, faced with practical challenges of recruiting new teacher librarians in a limited amount of time. But survey through questionnaire method shows only 69 out of 122 survey participants, which account for 56.6%, have proper teacher librarian licences. According to the analysis of teacher librarianship status, only 146 people were trained in 2019. As a result, the field demand for librarian teachers surged, but it was found that the conditions for training excellent librarian teachers have not been provided. Therefore, it is necessary to actively prepare a way to secure a certain level of qualification holders with the qualifications of excellent teacher librarians.

The purpose of this study was to analyse the teachers' perception about the applying the history of Korean science in elementary science class. To research the educational value and application of the history of Korean Science in Elementary science class, 202 teachers of elementary school were asked to reply the questionnaire of 5-point Likert scale and Elementary science textbooks were analysed. The results of this study indicated that 4th grade science textbooks does not include the history of Korean Science, and a majority of teachers perceived positively about its educational value. 4th grade teachers showed relatively negative perception on the educational value of the history of Korean Science and Elementary school teachers were very positive about including it as the main classes of the curriculum.
