The Effects of Adlerian Community Feeling Program on the School Life Satisfaction and Depression among Elementary School Students (아들러 심리학에 기초한 공동체 의식 프로그램이 초등학생의 학교생활 만족도와 우울에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Adlerian Community Feeling Program on the school life satisfaction and depression among elementary school students. Subjects were 38 students who were the fifth grader students and all participants were asked to complete the school life satisfaction scale and depression scale. The pretest and posttest were implemented in order to verify the effectiveness of the program. The program consisted of a total 9 sessions, focusing on building the relationship, self-acceptance, respect for others, cooperation and contribution. The employed statistical analysis was ANCOVA. The results of the study are as follows: First, the Community Feeling Program had an influence on significant improvement in school life satisfaction and its sub-factor, general classes, teacher-student relationships and the physical environment of a school. Second, the Community Feeling Program had an influence on significant effect in depression and its sub-factor, negative mood/physical symptom. Thus, the Community Feeling Program based on Adlerian Psychology has been found to be effective in improving overall school life satisfaction and reducing depression.

  • This study examined the effects of gratitude enrichment program on the school adjustment, life satisfaction, and emotional-behavioral problems of children. The subjects were 5th grade 69 boys and girls(experimental group: 34, control group: 35). School adjustment, life satisfaction, and emotional-behavioral problems were measured before and after the program intervention. The findings showed that the gratitude enrichment program increased the school adjustment and life satisfaction. But it was not effective in decreasing the emotional-behavioral problems of children. The importance and necessity of gratitude enrichment program and education activities were discussed.

Gifted Students' School Life Satisfaction in General Schools and Educational Institute for the Gifted (영재학생의 일반학급 및 영재교육기관에서의 학교생활만족도)

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the school life satisfaction of the gifted students with general students. For this study, the questionnaire on school life satisfaction was conducted to 76 elementary gifted students and 125 general students. The results of the study were as follows: First, in the school life satisfaction at the general class, there were significant difference among groups. It was found that the gifted students showed a little higher school life satisfaction score than the general students' (p<.05). The score of gifted class students' school life satisfaction was the highest. Second, the score of gifted class students' school life satisfaction was significantly higher than gifted education institute students' (p<.05). Third, school life satisfaction score of gifted students in a gifted class was significantly higher than in a general class (p<.05). Forth, regarding the gifted students' gender, there was no significant difference between girls and boys. Regarding the grades of the gifted students, there was no significant difference between 5th and 6th grader (p>.05).

The Mediating Effects of Life Satisfaction on the Relationship among Parent Attachment, Peer Attachment, and Depression Perceived by Out-of-school Youths (학교 밖 청소년이 지각한 부모 애착, 또래 애착과 우울 간의 관계에서 생활만족도의 매개효과)

  • This study examined the mediating effects of life satisfaction on the relationship between parent attachment, peer attachment, and depression among Korean out-of-school youths. The study participants of 145 out-of-school youths derived from 5th Panel Survey of School Dropouts. To analyze the collected data, descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and path analysis conducted by using SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0. Parent attachment directly related to life satisfaction. Peer attachment directly related to life satisfaction and to depression. Life satisfaction had a significant negative relationship to depression. Parent attachment (𝛽=-.23, p=.006, 95% CI: -0.33~-0.12) and peer attachment (𝛽=-.18, p=.002, 95% CI: -0.31~-0.08) had indirect effects on depression through mediating life satisfaction. Results of this study indicate that we will discuss implications for possible policies and programs to help out-of-school youth successfully integrate a satisfying life and safely improve depression.

  • This study examined influence of strengths of family life and satisfaction with school life on adolescent psychological well-being, particularly targeting at high school students in the rapidly changing IT-based society. In order to investigate influence of factors related to home and school as the main living spaces on improving adolescent psychological well-being, a survey of 251 students at K academic high school in Busan was conducted and then multiple regression analysis was carried out. Firstly, the analysis showed that adolescents' sharing time at home could make a positive impact on their positive interpersonal relationships. It also showed that family bonds could have a positive impact on adolescents' positive interpersonal relationships, the goal of life, and personal growth, and thus satisfaction in communication at home was a factor that could be helpful to environmental control. Secondly, it indicated that adolescents' satisfaction with school life was a factor that had a positive impact on self-acceptance, environmental control, and the goal of life among the sub-factors of psychological well-being. It turned out that peer relationships could have a positive impact on positive interpersonal relationships, likewise school lessons and peer relationships could have a positive impact on autonomy. According to the results of analysis, factors related to strengths of family life and satisfaction with school life could affect adolescent psychological well-being. Therefore, these findings can be applied to establishing major youth policy.

  • 생활수준이 높아지면서 단순히 먹고 사는 수준을 넘어서 삶의 만족도에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 통계 정보를 살펴보더라도 근로여건 만족도, 녹지환경 만족도, 의료서비스 만족도, 소득만족도, 소비생활 만족도, 여가활동 만족도, 학생의 학교생활만족도 등 다양한 만족도 지표를 발견할 수 있다. 본 연구는 지방자치단체 통합데이터베이스 및 e지방지표를 이용하여 지방자치단체에 속한 구성원들의 다양한 만족도 지표의 연관성을 분석하고자 한다.

The Effects of Parents' Neglect on Adolescents' School Adjustment: Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Self- Identity and Life Satisfaction (부모방임이 청소년의 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향: 자아정체성과 삶의 만족도의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This study tries to investigate the influence of parents' neglect on adolescents' school adjustment, and to prove the mediating effects of self-identity and life satisfaction on the relationship between two variables. Data from 5th year(2014) Korean Children and Youth Panel Study(KCYPS) on 2035 nation-wide second year middle school students was analyzed by utilizing Regression analysis and path analysis. Results of the analysis showed first, parents' neglect had a negative effect on adolescents' self-identity, life satisfaction, and school adjustment. Second, adolescents' school adjustment improved with their self-identity and life satisfaction included as mediating effects. Third, the effect of parents' neglect on adolescents' school adjustment was partly mediated by the effects of subject's self-identity and life satisfaction. Furthermore, the need for program development to enhance adolescents' self-identity, life satisfaction and school adjustment was suggested.

  • The aim of this study is to examine the relationships between high school student's self-efficacy and conversations with parents on career maturity. We consider how to instruct students in school life, efforts to increase students' career maturity and implications for career education in schools to evaluate students' school life. For the empirical analysis, the Korea Education and Employment Panel (KEEP II) survey data conducted in early 2018 was used. Study results found self-efficacy has a significant positive (+) effect on career maturity and a significant positive effect on conversations with parents. The frequency and content of conversation with parents have a significant positive (+) effect on career maturity. The effect of self-efficacy and conversations with parents variables on career maturity has a significant regulatory effect between the two groups who were satisfied with school life and those who were not.

  • Many of the universities in Korea recently is changing the school policy oriented from the supply approach to the demand as the case of business companies. Customer orientation is the key point of the customer satisfaction. But there are few studies focused on the satisfaction of students as a customer. In this paper, we studied the components of satisfaction in university life, the factors affecting on the satisfaction of students, and the relationship among them. The principal components of satisfaction in university life are services related to the activities of students, the utilization of welfare facilities, curriculum, the adminstration on students, and the department office. Factors affecting on the satisfaction of students are expectation, pride, self evaluation on learning, and special activities. Demographic variables, for example, sex, grade, colleges, and so on are also important factors. We also found the fact that the pride was the most important factor, and it gives positive drive on the satisfaction of students in university life. It gives us the important implication to the school policy.

The Relationship between Cultural Adaptation Stress and Life Satisfaction of Multicultural adolescents

  • In this paper, we intend to examine the mediating effects of self-esteem and school life adaptation in the path between cultural adaptation stress and life satisfaction of multicultural adolescents, and propose ways to improve the life satisfaction level of multicultural adolescents. As analysis data for this purpose, the 4th, 5th, and 6th panel data of multicultural youth of the Korea Youth Policy Research Institute were used, and multivariate potential growth model analysis was performed using the statistical programs SPSS 23.0 and Amos 23.0 version. In addition, the individual mediating effects of self-esteem and school life adaptation were verified using phantom variables. As a result of the analysis, it was possible to confirm the longitudinal mediating effects of self-esteem and school life adaptation, which suggests that multi-dimensional efforts are needed to improve self-esteem and school life adaptation level to improve the life satisfaction level of multicultural adolescents. Therefore, based on the results of this study, practical measures to improve the life satisfaction of multicultural adolescents were presented in detail.
