  • The purpose of this paper is to provide readers related to mathematics education with information and guidelines on 'Teaching and Learning Materials for Differentiated Instruction in Mathematics'. This paper is generally comprised of two parts. The one part is basically focused on understanding the meaning of differentiated education. The focus of the other part is on developing differentiated instructional materials for mathematics, according to the following procedures: 1. Analyzing the current differentiated mathematics curriculum and textbooks 2. Drawing a framework for developing the differentiated teaching and learning materials, and planning the procedure of developing the materials in detail. 3. Developing, checking, and revising the materials 4. Proposing how to utilize the materials effciently and effectively in class

  • In school education, mathematics is obviously an independent subject. But the function of mathematics is revealed when it is joined with other subject. For example, when we use mathematics to solve a scientific problem, we can clearly feel the function of mathematics and its roll for science. So, it is general to teach the functions of mathematics by dealing mathematical application. For this method, student mostly pass over that because mathematics is only a tool. Therefore, it is necessary for mathematics part to be separated from mixed application. In this paper, we present a model to contain such an effect.

  • Whereas research on telelearning in educational technology area is lively done, that in mathematics education area is not. Related to the open education, telelearning has 4 models: the distance classroom model, the front-end system design, the knowledge construction model, and the teaching model based on data. S/W, C/W, and H/W are the components of telelearning system. For an effective mathematics telelearning system, H/W and S/W which use multimedia with complex multimode information such as text, graphics, animation, video, and audio are necessary. Examples of telelearning systems on going are MIPOS, SDS telelearning system, telelearning system of the Naechon Elementary School, and Doorae Multimedia Application Development Platform.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new education plan of electronics engineering in vocational high-school. And the new proposed education plan is applied to electronic circuit theory education which is known to be a very difficult subject. It is the inventive education using PSPICE and EWB that is assistant to study program. Also, multimedia is used to improve education of electronic engineering in vocational high-school. The effectiveness for the proposed education is investigated by using the questionnaire. After the inventive education, students and teachers are very improved and encouraged in terms of interest, understanding and attitude of study. Specially, students showed strong interest in the education linked with the university curriculum.

Classification and Analysis of Accompanying Inscriptions Used in Elementary Science Textbooks (초등학교 과학 교과서에서 사용된 보조적 시각 자료의 분류 및 분석)

  • Elementary students are tend to depend heavily on visual informations in the cognitive process. Thus, elementary science textbooks provide science contents mostly by inscriptions, the visual materials, with little verbal information in the limited page area. Especially, since the textbooks include many accompanying inscriptions rather than a basic inscription, it is very important to understand the relationships among many inscriptions in teaching and leaning science. Therefore, this study analyzed the status and characteristics of accompanying inscriptions used. in elementary science textbooks, and classified them according to their functions. As results, we found six types of the accompanying inscriptions such as inner part, detail, result, process, emphasis, and explanation. Accompanying inscriptions were used more frequently in the lower grade (3rd and 4th grades) than the higher grade (5th and 6th grades). We discussed the examples of each type in detail, and thus revealed some possible difficulties in understanding inscriptions caused by the inconsistency of the directions of the basic inscription and accompanying inscription, and by the absence of the sign linking the basic and accompanying inscriptions.

  • These days, as Interest in Image recognition with deep learning is increasing, there has been a lot of research in image recognition using deep learning. In this study, we propose a system for classifying rocks through rock images of 18 types of rock(6 types of igneous, 6 types of metamorphic, 6 types of sedimentary rock) which are addressed in the high school curriculum, using CNN model based on Tensorflow, deep learning open source framework. As a result, we developed a classifier to distinguish rocks by learning the images of rocks and confirmed the classification performance of rock classifier. Finally, through the mobile application implemented, students can use the application as a learning tool in classroom or on-site experience.

Assessing Technology Leadership Perception of Teachers in Digital Textbook Utilizing Schools (디지털교과서 활용 학교 교사의 테크놀로지 리더십 인식수준 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to define the teachers' perception for technology leadership when utilizing the Digital Textbook (DT). The subjects of this study were 97 elementary school teachers (40 males and 57 females) working in digital textbook research schools that implemented digital textbooks in 2009. Needs assessment instrument was revised based on previous instruments. Perception was calculated using Borich formula. According to the results, teachers of digital textbook research schools recognized 'teachers' instructional methods' as the most important area, while the least recognized area was 'support by the school'. The highest technology leadership needs by categories included 'role setting between members when implementing digital textbooks', 'instructional methods to cultivate creativity when using digital textbooks', 'troubleshooting digital textbook problems', 'additional staff support in case of problems', 'development of various assessment tools for measuring the effect of the digital textbook', and 'support of digital textbook resources for students with disabilities'. Based on these results, the study proposed specific methods to enhance technology leadership for the successful introduction of digital textbooks in schools.

  • There are making epoch changes of a teaching method and educational contents as information communication technology (ICT) introduced to school education. The 7th curriculum induces that teaching hours should be assigned to education using ICT more than 10% of all classroom work hours. In this study, we established basic course of courseware design for applying ICT to physical education effectively in the 7th curriculum. We developed distance-learning program for motion of short-distance race and the entire his power race in middle school using Web. Flash and Database. And we evaluated efficiency by students that are 4 classrooms (140 persons) after teaching using the WBI. According to results of questions and a test, the students expressed that education using ICT make understanding of instruction substance effectively. concentrating their attention on teaching and concerning in teaching actively.

The Analysis of 'Software Education' Unit in the Practical Arts Textbooks According to 2015 Revised Curriculum (2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 실과 교과서 '소프트웨어 교육' 단원 분석)

  • Modern society has become a key factor in determining software competitiveness. Therefore, Korea has required more than 17 hours of software education per year in the actual course subject to the 2015 revised curriculum. In this paper, we analyzed the software related units in 6 kinds of textbooks of elementary school published based on '2015 revised curriculum' and tried to provide basic data for selection of textbooks related to software education in elementary school. As a result of the analysis, the 6 revised textbooks of 2015 appropriately reflected both 'understanding of software', 'procedural problem solving', 'contents of programming element and structure', and I was suggesting appropriate activities. Unit support materials use comics and illustrations to stimulate interest, supplement text, and deepen learning. Four kinds of textbooks provide additional information by presenting reading materials. However, in most textbooks, the proportion of learning using the appendix was low. Although it consists of units focused on knowledge understanding and practice, it can be a textbook that enhances students' interest and participation if they are made of software in daily life, problem solving by procedural thinking, and so on.

  • 컴퓨터의 개발과 발달은 교육 환경상에 변화를 가져왔다. 초기 본인에게 부족한 부분을 보충 하는 자료를 이용할 수 있는 보조 교재 등의 형태로 나타났으며, 멀티미디어의 등장은 보충교재로의 질을 한 단계 증가시키는 계기를 마련하였다. 인터넷의 급속한 보급과 발달은 멀티미디어의 쉬운 접근과 다양한 형태를 획득할 수 있는 방법을 마련하여, 원격교육상에서 많은 활용이 가능하게 되었다. 하지만, 현재 인터넷을 이용한 평가의 경우 대부분 현재 학교에서 이루어지고 있는 평가와 유사한 단순한 텍스트와 간단한 그림등을 포함한 형태나 동영상등 멀티미디어와 문제는 별개인 형태로 행해지고 있다. 다양한 멀티미디어 자료를 활용하기 위해서 각 멀티미디어의 특성들과 문제의 특성을 고려해서 요소들 간에 동기화를 나타내기 위해서 SMIL을 확장한 방법을 이용하였다. 또한, 교수가 출제된 문제에 대해서 평가 등에 활용시에 현재 시스템들은 수정이 불가능하여 평가의 정확성을 떨어뜨리는 요인으로 작용한다. 본 논문에서는 교수와 문제의 상호작용을 통한 실시간 문제 수정기능과 과목별 특성을 고려한 멀티미디어 요소와 문제를 결합한 실시간 학습평가 시스템을 설계, 구현하였다.
