  • 연약지반에 시공된 콘크리트전주가 풍하중에 의해 받는 웅력-변형 특성을 파악하기 위해 전주 매설깊이, 버팀대의 위치 및 수량 등을 변수로 하중 파괴 시험을 실시한 결과, 전주가 깊이 묻혀질수록 재하하중에 따른 수평변위는 감소하였고 전주의 버팀대는 2개일 경우 가장 안정되는 것으로 조사되었다.

An Experimental Study and Numerical Analysis on Load Transfer Characteristics of Drilled Shafts (현장타설말뚝의 하중전이 특성에 대한 실험 및 해석적 연구)

  • In this study, the load transfer characteristics of the base and skin of drilled shafts were analyzed and the load sharing ratio was calculated by performing a load transfer large-scale model test and three-dimensional numerical analysis considering the similarity of drilled shafts, which is the design target. From the linear behavior of drilled shafts shown in the large-scale model test and 3D numerical analysis results, the skin load transition curve for the design conditions of this study was proposed by Baquelin et al., and the base load transition curve was proposed by Baquelin et al. For the horizontal load transition curve, the formula proposed by Reese et al. was confirmed to be appropriate. The test value was slightly larger than the numerical analysis value for the axial load at the rock socketing, but the load sharing ratio at the rock socketing increased, on average, about 27.8% as the vertical load increased. The analysis value of the vertical settlement of the pile head under the vertical load was evaluated to be slightly smaller than the test value, and the maximum vertical settlement of the pile head in the model test and analysis maximum vertical load was 10.6 mm in the test value and 10.0 mm in the analysis value, and the maximum vertical settlement value at the base of the pile was found to be a test value of 2.0 mm and an analysis value of 1.9 mm. The horizontal displacement at the head of the column (ground surface) and the head of the pile during the horizontal load was found to agree relatively well with the test value and the analysis value. As a result of the model soil test, the horizontal load measured at the maximum horizontal displacement of 38.0 mm was evaluated to be 24,713 kN, and the horizontal load in the numerical analysis was evaluated to be 26,073 kN.

  • Displacement of structures is the most important parameter for safety and performance assessment and is measured to use for diagnosis and maintenance of bridges. Usually LVDT, Laser and GNSS are used for displacement measurement but these measurement instruments have problems in terms of field condition and cost. Therefore, in this study, displacements were evaluated using rotational angle measured by inclinometers and the proposed algorithm was experimentally verified. As the result, vertical displacements of cable supported bridges with traffic and temperature load were properly evaluated through the proposed algorithm. Therefore it is considered that the proposed algorithm can be used for displacement measurement by vehicle load test and long term displacement monitoring.

Lateral Resistance Behavior Analysis of Drilled Shafts in Multi-layered Soil (다층지반에 근입된 현장타설말뚝의 수평 지지거동분석)

  • In this research, load-transfer-function method was selected, because that is widely used in geotechnical engineering among the analysis methods to verify the behavior of load-lateral displacement. Lateral loading test of field scale was conducted, this measured data was analyzed. From the analysis, the model of load-lateral displacement was suggested. The test results were studied and compared to the commercial programs, 'LPILE', which contain the load transfer functions proposed before. By analysis of measure data of load-lateral displacement that expressed to several functions, $y=ae^{bx}$ model was the simplest and applicable to the field. In that case a value converged about 1.3, b value had a tendency to converge about 0.02. From the comparison analysis between measured data and load transfer function by 'LPILE', it is examined that if the lateral load is small, calculated displacements of them show a similar value compared to measured values. Furthermore, the bigger lateral loads, the bigger calculated values compared to the measured data. If the results are compared by Matlock-Reese method and Matlock-API method, Matlock-Reese method shows result of safe side because lateral displacement is calculated greatly relatively.

  • In recent years, the use of underground spaces becomes more frequent and the demands for urban tunnels are rapidly increasing. The urban tunnels constructed in the ground with a shallow and soft cover might be deformed in various forms on the face, which would lead, the tunnels to behavior 3-dimensionally, which may have a great impact on the longitudinal load transfer. The tunnel face might deform in various forms depending on the construction method, overburden and the heterogeneity of the ground. And accordingly, the type and size of the distribution of the load transferred to the ground adjacent to the tunnel face as well as the form of the loosened ground may appear in various ways depending on the deformation form of the tunnel face. Therefore, in this study was conducted model tests by idealizing the deformation behavior of the tunnel face, that were constant deformation, the maximum deformation on the top and the maximum deformation on the bottom. And the test results were analyzed focusing on the deformation of the face and the longitudinal load transfer at the ground above the tunnel. As results, it turned out that the size and the distribution type of the load, which was transferred to the tunnel as well as the earth pressure on the face were affected by the deformation type of the face. The largest load was transferred to the tunnel when the deformation was in a constant form. Less load was transferred when the maximum deformation on the bottom, and the least load was transferred when the maximum deformation on the top. In addition, it turned out that, if the cover became more shallow, a longitudinal load transfer in the tunnel would limited to the region close to the face; however, if the cover became higher than a certain value, the area of the load transfer would become wider.

  • In this study, a low-velocity impact test was performed to obtain the dynamic properties of solid propellants. The dynamic behavior of the solid propellant was examined by measuring the force and displacement of the impactor during the low-velocity impact test. The bending displacement was calculated by compensating for the local displacement caused by the low-velocity impact test in the form of three point bending and the shear displacement caused by using a short and thick solid propellant specimen. Stress and strain were calculated using compensated displacements and measured force, and dynamic properties of solid propellants were obtained from the stress-strain curve and compared with static bending test. The dynamic properties of solid propellant under the low-velocity impact loading at various operating temperature conditions such as room temperature(20 ℃), high temperature(63 ℃), and low temperature(-32 ℃) were compared and investigated.

Study on Pullout Behavior and Determination of Ultimate Uplift Capacity of Pile Driven in Small Pressured Chamber (소형 압력 토조내에 타입된 말뚝의 인발 거동과 극한 인발 지지력 결정에 관한 연구)

  • Based on the various test data acquired in the field, the large pressure chamber and the small pressure chamber, uplift behaviors and method of determining the ultimate uplift capacity of pile driven in small pressure chamber were studied. After uplift pile experienced 2 or 3 sudden slip due to increase of uplift load, complete pullout failure was occurred. Thus, it appears that the ultimate uplift capacity could be identified as the load at displacement where first slip occurs. The ultimate uplift capacity might be determined in every test and the disturbance after first uplift test could be recovered by adding one blow of the drop hammer, which had to depend on the model pile capacity.

Development of a Fatigue Testing System for Micro-Specimens (마이크로시험편용 피로시험기 개발)

  • In this study, a fatigue testing system capable of performing load-controlled tension-tension tests for micro-specimens was developed by using an electro-magnetic actuator. Using this system, fatigue testing as well as tensile testing can be performed over a wide range of loading frequencies. Further, a new laser interferometric strain/displacement gage was used during fatigue testing to obtain high-resolution measurements of the cyclic deformation of thin films. Since the testing machine and the displacement gage are stable and show quick responses, the displacement can be measured instantaneously and continuously during fatigue testing, and high-resolution results can be obtained.

  • For long piles driven in deep clay deposits, it is difficult to estimate the ultimate bearing capacity due to large resistance induced by long embedded depth, and also the load transfer curve due to large residual load induced by negative skin friction, even with the performance of pile load tests. In this research, a hi-directional load test on a PHC pile driven in deep soft deposit was performed in order to evaluate the tip and shaft resistances separately, which are feasible to estimate the ultimate bearing capacity of the pile. Residual load of the pile was determined by continuous monitoring of pile strains after the pile installation. The true resistance and true load-movement curve of the pile were properly estimated by taking account of the residual load. A model far behavior of the shaft resistance vs. movement was also proposed, which includes the effects of residual load based on the experiment. Consequently, it was proved that the residual load should be taken into consideration for correctly analyzing load test results of piles in deep clay deposits.

Influence of Indenter Tip Geometry and Poisson's Ratio on Load-Displacement Curve in Instrumented Indentation Test (계장화 압입시험의 하중-변위 곡선에 미치는 선단 형상 및 푸아송비의 영향)

  • The tip geometries of the pyramidal and conical indenters used for micro/nano-indentation tests are not sharp. They are inevitably rounded because of their manufacturability and wear. In many indentation studies, the tip geometries of the pyramidal indenters are simply assumed to be spherical, and the theoretical solution for spherical indentation is simply applied to the geometry at a shallow indentation depth. This assumption, however, has two problems. First, the accuracy of the theoretical solution depends on the material properties and indenter shape. Second, the actual shapes of pyramidal indenter tips are not perfectly spherical. Hence, we consider the effects of these two problems on indentation tests via finite element analysis. We first show the relationship between the Poisson's ratio and load-displacement curve for spherical indentation, and suggest improved solutions. Then, using a possible geometry for a Berkovich indenter tip, we analyze the characteristics of the load-displacement curve with respect to the indentation depth.
