The Stochastic Finite Element Analysis and Reliability Analysis of the Cable Stayed Bridge Subjected to Earthquake Load (지진하중을 받는 사장교의 확률유한요소해석 및 신뢰성해석)

  • Considering the effect by uncertainty in the structures, it is reasonable that the safety examination has to be performed by using method of reliability evaluation. Therefore, in this study, program is developed which can perform the reliability analysis or the dynamic response analysis more efficiently by formularizing the stochastic finite element analysis suitable for the existing reliability analysis about the cable stayed bridge suffering the seismic loads. Based on this program, the characteristic of dynamic responses is analyzed quantitatively by examining the average, the standard deviation and the coefficient of variance about the displacement, the resistance and the tension of cable according to the random variables. and the safety of cable stayed bridge is evaluated by examining of reliability index and failure probability

  • 준공 후 상당한 시간이 지나 내진설계가 되지 않았거나 내진상세가 이루어지지 않은 건물의 부족한 내진성능을 보완하기 위한 방법의 하나로 좌굴이 제한된 가새형 댐퍼를 적용할 수 있다. 이 방법을 적용할 경우, 기존 내진보강법의 불확실성을 줄일 수 있었음에도 불구하고, 댐퍼의 설계과정이 복잡하여 실무에 적용하기 어려웠다. 그러나 본 원고에서는 강성과 강도개념을 적용한 댐퍼의 설계법을 적용함으로써, 실무에서 쉽게 적용할 수 있도록 하였다. 준공된 지 16년이 지난 비틀림 비정형 건물에 대한 내진성능을 평가한 후, 가새형 댐퍼로 보강한 결과는 다음과 같다. (1) 일방향해석결과 나타난 골조별 하중-지붕변위의 관계를 이용하여, 연약골조의 강성을 강한 골조의 강성과 일치시키고, 이 강성비로부터 댐퍼가 부담하는 최적의 내력비율을 정하여 내진보강을 수행한 결과, 가새를 설치한 방향으로는 가새형댐퍼가 비틀림 방지와 연성증대효과를 구조물에 부여하여 성능이 획기적으로 증가하였다. 또한, 그 가새의 직각방향 하중에 대해서도 가새를 설치함으로써 비틀림 강성이 증가하고, 가새와 코어벽체가 인장과 압축으로 횡력에 저항하여 횡저항 성능이 증가하였다. (2) 내진성능이 부족한 비틀림 비정형 건물의 내진성능을 증진시키기 위해 가새형 댐퍼를 적용함에 있어, 댐퍼의 강성을 이용하여 구조체의 비틀림 거동을 최소화하고, 연성을 증진시키는 방법을 체택할 경우, 실무자들이 보다 쉽게 적용할 수 있으면서 그 효과도 상당히 클 것으로 기대된다.

  • This paper presents the relation between risk and safety factor for optimal storm sewer design in urban area. For reliability analysis of the storm sewer, uncertainty of the various parameters of constituting equation determining the capacity and load of storm" sewer is considered and risk is determined. In this study, reliability analysis method is applied to Seongsan detention reservoir basin which area is $381,000m^2$ Darcy-Weisbach equation is used for determining capacity of the storm sewer and rational formula is used for determining load. Safety factor representing ratio of the sewer capacity and design flowrate is calculated, and relating with risk. Then risk and safety factor with return period is obtained and it is used for optimal design of storm sewer.

Prediction of Extreme Design Wave Height (극한 설계 파고의 추정)

  • In this study, the technique to evaluate the extreme design wave height of certain return period is developed from the given measured or hindcasted sea state data of concerned area for limited period. By using the order statistics and Monte Carlo Simulation method, the best fit probability distribution function with proper parameters describing the given wave height data is chosen, from which extreme design wave height can be predicted by extrapolation to the desired return period. The fitness and the confidence limit of the chosen probability function are also discussed. Application calculation is carried out for the wave height data given by applying the Wilson wave model theory to major 50 typhoon wind data affecting Korean South coast during the year from 1938 to 1987.

  • Methods for mixing variable types of steel fibers have been developed recently to suppress outbreak of crack or to control the width of crack and improve the load resistible capacity at the same time. On the other hand, uncertainty by complex nature of destruction dynamics of steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC) is included. In this study, analysis of reliance considering uncertainty of SFRC beam is done. For this, intensity limit state model was proposed. Moreover, characteristic values about almost every kinds of probability variables were collected and presented according to home and foreign references. Process of improving uncertainty from the result of experiments by Bayseian updating method is also proposed on the purpose of offering better statistical characteristic values with more data in the new future.   • The coastal area forms various sedimentary layers according to the environmental conditions such as the topography and geological features of the upper region of the river, ocean currents, and river mouth. Therefore, identifying the characteristics of the marine clay deposited in the coastal area plays a key role in the investigation of the formation of soft ground. In general, alluvial grounds are formed by a variety of factors such as changes in topography and natural environment, they have very diverse qualities depending on the deposited region or sedimentation conditions. The most important thing for the construction of social infrastructures in soft ground areas is economical and efficient treatment of soft ground. In this study, the author collected data from diverse laboratory and field tests on five areas in western and southern offshore with relatively high reliability, and then statistically analyzed them, thereby presenting standard constants for construction design. Correlation between design parameters such as over consolidation ratio, preconsolidation pressure was analyzed using linear and non-linear regression analyses. Also, proposed distribution characteristics of design parameters in consideration of each region's uncertainty through statistical analyses such as normality verification, outlier removal.

  • In recent years, many construction projects become large and complicated, and construction accidents also steadily increase, which grows interest in the safety and maintenance during construction. Many of the construction accidents are related to temporary construction and structures, but the safety evaluation and management during construction are unclear and indefinite due to the short operating period and continuous change in the formation of the temporary structure. The system support, which is one of the temporary structures to support the pouring load of concrete, was proposed to easily install and dismantle members with connection parts pre-manufactured. The use of the system support is increasing to improve the safety of the temporary structure during construction. However, the system support, which consists of multiple members, still has uncertainties in connectivity between members and supports of vertical members. Therefore, this study analyzed the structure, load, and accident cases of the system support to define the damage scenarios for member connection, support condition, and lateral displacement. The decrease rate of the critical load was analyzed according to the damage scenarios based on the defined unit structure of the system support. In addition, this study provided vulnerable members for each damage scenario, which could induce instability of the temporary structures during design, construction, and operation of the structure.

  • Structural optimization design has been developed with finite element analysis using effective and fast computational technology. Especially topology optimization design has been recently often used since it yields an optimal topology as well as an optimal shape under satisfied constraints. In general in finite element analysis, it is assumed that the structural material properties such as Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio and the variable of applied loading are fixed with obvious values in structure. However practically these values may take uncertainties because of environmental effect or manufactural error of structures. Therefore static or dynamic analysis of the structures may make an error, then finally it may have an influence on qualify of optimal design. In this study, the topology optimization design of structure is carried out using so called the interval finite element method, and the analysis method Is proposed. The results are also validated by comparing with conventional topology optimization results of density distribution method and finite element analysis results. The present method can be used to predict the optimal topology of linear elastostatic structures with respect to structural uncertainty of behavior.

  • The necessity and importance of fatigue failure to variable load has been appreciated as the structural design technique develops and use of high tensile steel is increasing. This is much more appreciated for a large ship such as VLCC. The rigorous fatigue analysis and safety assessment should be, hence, carried out at the design stage to avoid the possibility of fatigue failure and to achieve the design result having a sufficient structural safety to fatigue strength. This paper deals with an efficient spectral fatigue analysis of ship structures by introducing the concept of stress influence coefficient. In the process included are probabilistic loading analysis, evaluation of long-term distribution of stress range and estimation of fatigue life applying the spectral fatigue analysis. An integrated computer program has been developed in which reliability analysis to fatigue strength is also included and has been applied to D/H VLCC.

  • Presented is a study on the establishment of a method of advanced reliability analysis for the realistic analysis and design of reinforced concrete(RC) structures. Considerable variabilities exist in concrete structures due to random nature of concrete materials and member dimensions. The present study analyzes first the uncertainties in concrete, reinforcements and member dimensions and then a method is proposed to determine the probability uncertainties of basic variables. The limit state equations are also proposed for the RC members with axial compression and bending and RC footings. The advanced invariant second-moment method is applied to analyze those structures. The present study provides an important base for realistic reliability analysis of RC structures.
